2 PERFECT NEIGHBORS.......RIGHT?

"Anika, Anika, Anika darling please wake up. Anika heard faintly in her dream like someone was calling her, or was it a dream? She immediately sat up on her bed to find her mother fully dressed for work beside her bed.

Anika sitting up on her bed panting then said "mom, what did we say about the knocking, you scared the life out of me."

"I'm sorry dear, I came to tell you I'm going to work and need you and your brother to take Isabella's dog to the vet for a rabies injection. "

"Ok mom, no problem which car should we take out? "

"Oh, no need of cars, exercise would be good for you guys so just take a walk to the t-junction." She said walking out of the door. "The maid is here and she will also be Isabella's nanny so that you and Daniel can have time to walk around the neighborhood and make friends, ok?"

"First of all mom, I don't need friends just my phone. What fun is there going outside and making friends, I'm fine."

"Anika, darling, you need a friend you just haven't found the right person for you."

"Yes ma'am, please shut the door, I want to take a shower." She said getting up from the bed stretching.

Afterwards, she came downstairs and saw Daniel and Isabella having breakfast.

"Where's dad?" She asked sitting down.

"He's gone to work." Isabella answered.

"And who's the new maid?"

"Miss Alicia" Daniel answered.

"Mmmm," Anika mumbled while eating.

"So what's the new name of your dog Bella?" Daniel asked.

"Uhm, I think I'll name it...Beauty."

Oh come on Isy, it's a male not a female," said Anika.

"Then I'll name it.....uhm.....yes, I got it, I'll name it Jake."

"It's a nice name, cuz it's handsome, just like me." Daniel said grinning.

"Jerk," Anika scoffed.

"Oh come off it, you're just jealous I'm more handsome than you."

"Uhm, first of all eeewwww, second of all I'm not a boy so I can't be handsome, third of all I'm more beautiful, point, blank, period.

"You won me this time but next time I will."

"There will be no next time I can promise you that, hurry up so that we can go to the vet and give Jake a rabies injection."

"Is it going to hurt him or is he going to cry?"

"Bella, I don't think dogs cry but don't worry I'm sure Jake is a very strong dog." Daniel replied.

"Ok."

They dropped their dishes into the sink, took the dog by the leash and headed off to the vet.

"Hi," Anika greeted the doctor as they entered the room.

"We came to give our dog a rabies injection." Daniel said.

"Ok so let's see who we are dealing with." Anika picked up the dog and set it gently on the table.

"Awww, the little guy's so cute," the nurse said rubbing behind his ears. "Ok, let me see....aha, the injection is right here....okay please hold him while I give him the injection..... thank you, that's it. You can bring him every month for his injection.

"Thank you, "Isabella said.

"You're welcome sweetheart , here have a mint. "

They walked back home and met a woman with two teenagers, a boy and a girl they seemed to be her children.

"Hi,"the woman said shaking Anika's hand enthusiastically. 'she reeks heavily of alcohol, and looks so untidy' Anika thought.

"Please, who let you into the house and who are you? "Daniel asked making her to let go of Anika's hand.

"Oh sorry, it was your maid, we are your neighbours, my name is Mrs. White this is my son and daughter, Edwin and Lisa, goodbye." She said going out of the house.

"What are we going to...." Daniel said as she walked out of the house.

'Ok she's really psycho' Anika thought.

Anika and Daniel glanced at each other then at Edwin and Lisa.

"Nice to meet you, "Daniel said shaking Edwin and Lisa's hands, then Edwin followed Daniel to his room leaving Anika with Lisa.

"This is so great I've always wanted new neighbours since the last occupants of the house died and their daughter ran away. But now you're here I'll have someone to have sleepovers with, this is going to be so fun, we'll paint each other's nails, do our.... "Lisa chatted noisily away.

'she's just so chatty I'll just pretend like I'm listening' Anika thought, "And we would go to the hair salon, talk about boys and luckily go to the same school, I'm attending Starcrust High School....." Lisa continued talking but Anika was just typing on her phone saying cool, ahhh, yay every one minute, until she got tired and asked, "Would you like some icecream and biscuits?"

She hurried off the kitchen, with Anika at her back praying that the ice cream would shut her up.

"Hey dude, "Edwin said sitting on the couch in Daniel's room, "how old are you? "He asked.

"Well I'm eighteen how about you? "

"I'm seventeen dude. "

"So which video game do you like best? "

"I like Chelsea dude. "

"What? Chelsea's a club not a video game and must you always say dude? "

"Sorry dude, whatever video game you have I'll play it dude. "

Daniel was already getting annoyed so he swallowed hard and said, "My name is D-A-N-I-E-L"he said slowly "NOT d-u-d-e, ok Edwin? Ok let's play zombie hunters. "

"Uhm, before we do that dude - I'm sorry Daniel before we do that, I would like to pee in your sink dude. "

"It's called a t-o-i-l-e-t not a SINK, AND FOR THE VERY LAST TIME MY NAME IS DANIEL."

"Chill dude, I'll be back. "

Edwin went into the toilet, Daniel sighed probably sick of dumb Edwin. Edwin came out of the toilet door.

"Ok, let's play dude, I'm gonna beat you and put you....."

"Uhm, sorry Edwin I think my TV has a problem, I'll call someone to fix it but that will be tommorow and.....oh, will you look at that it's getting late and I think your mom would be waiting for you, let me walk you."

"No dude, momma doesn't really care.....but she loves us, yeah she does, but it is getting late."

Back in the kitchen it seemed that Lisa was a serious, severe chatterbox, the icecream and biscuits didn't shut her up like Anika had expected. She just continued blabbing and blabbing.....still blabbing, Anika couldn't take it anymore. "Uhm, I want to go check up on my sister, if that's ok," Anika said getting up from the table.

"Oh that's ok, I'll be waiting."

Anika got upstairs and opened the door of her sister's room.

"What are you doing Isy?"

"I'm playing Prince and princess with Jake and we're having tea."

"Ok."

Anika closed the door and started walking as slowly as possible, just then she saw Edwin and Daniel walking out of the room.

"What's wrong, are you going home Edwin?"

"Yeah dude, it's late."

"Oh, great, I mean.....uhm.....it's so sad you have to leave now." Anika pretended, Daniel nudged her and then she wished she hadn't said so with what Edwin said next.

"You don't have to be sad dude, Lisa could plan a sleepover with you at your house while I plan a sleepover with Daniel at my house, cuz dudes, double sleepovers at the same house, same time, ain't good dudes."

"You don't have to do that Edwin that's so nice of you, you don't have to inconvenience yourself." Anika quickly answered.

"We'll think about it," Daniel said feeling Anika's eyes burning into his face.

'Well I can't say I'll ask my parents cuz I know they'll allow me without hesitation and I can NOT last a whole night with Edwin without fainting or going crazy,' Daniel thought.

They walked Lisa and Edwin out of the gate just as their parents drove in.

"Who's were those people?" Mrs. Johnson asked coming out of her car.

"Our perfect neighbors," Anika said sarcastically waving her hands in the air.

"Oh what's wrong honey don't you like your new friends?" Mr. Johnson asked gently patting her head as they got into the house.

"LIKE, you said, LIKE dad, no like is far from what I feel about Lisa."

"I know what I feel about Edwin, talk about dumb."

"Well just give it some time you'll soon get to know yourselves better. You need to learn how to tolerate, amend and appreciate your friends, and when I mean amend I mean make a positive impact on them," said Mrs. Johnson.

"Daddy, mommy," said Isabella as she ran down the stairs and hugged both of them.
