13 The challenge of fire and blood 2

Now it is strategy time . The men that went to military were clearly better than commoners because they had regular training , training as a unit and also they were given some of the cultivation resources as well .These military men had clearly have higher cultivation than Ivar but Ivar was sure they did not break into the core formation realm. This was because they still have some scars , and a little bit of ugliness on the faces .When men breaks trough great each great lvl there are some changes. For example from qi circulation to qi formation human skin would loose all of its impurities such as scars and birthmarks and so on. Ivar power could just see origin of things but could not show true power levels and so this indication gave him some insurance and hope for the win.

As he went trough the pile he remembered of the ancient battles .Only subject that he founded interesting in his first lifetime was ancient strategy and battle coordination.This was thought to many noble children in Great Eagle empire by their tutors and was one of the many subjects that people took lightly in the times of peace but valued greatly hen war came .He remembered many strange rules that were useless in this situation but than suddenly came to idea why should not he implement troop placement from one of the battles to this brawl..

It could actually work , it can maybe change the battle outcome it will work ! he braved and started to do his strategy positioning. 16 of his men were to form a small fort that looked like roman testutdo .He did this by placing 4 man on every side of the "fort" than him four of his soldiers would be in the middle of the fort and would be main weapon for attack. He choose largest , massive shields that could hide whole body behind them and were really heavy and difficult to lift .The 4 man were supposed to be relive force of the shield man and shield man just needed to support the fellow men by holding still and using their short sword when needed.

The problem were those 5 captains that could use some arts but Ivar decided to bet his life on this formation.Formation had one big weakness , its mobility But it was not hard for common folk to understand basic strategy behind it in 30 minutes and the obvious strength its defensive function was crucial for the survival of all .One more thing to add , this formation had better chance survive that 1 dragon attack and that was main idea behind it all because even if the small bucklers had some rune work on them but larger shields had more !!

PREPARATIONS WERE FINISHED SOON and two teams were ready for the brawl .Two dragons

lifted large mouths and made great fireballs .IT IS TIME TO FIGHT.

The 5 four men team started to circle Ivar and company .The captains even laughed at formation because the front men did not have spears pointed at front .It was so strange that the black dragons closed his eyes in shame and rage. He wanted the fruit badly , and also he bragged to his queen earlier so when the laughing and mockering of the other team started dragon just wanted to die of the shame.

"It should not be that easy ahha " the large bulky captain said "We thought you have some tactical thing going on but now you will just defend ? What a stupid way to die.Under the shield with no spear and sword on haha ."

That was a clear situation here because Ivar hid the Spears on the ground and could not be seen 10 meters away.This was a ploy for enemy to charge in without any thought and that was exactly what happened!!!

That bulky captain with no regards whatsoever charged and the team followed. 5 men were sure to take or at least to break and rout squad of 20. They ran ,and ran and soon they were upon the shield wall .In Ivar s head the countdown started .. 10 meters ... 7.5.. 5.. 4... Than Ivar said "Raise them ."

That was the signal they agreed on. Him and 3 of his fellow man that were in the middle of the fort took spears from the ground and stabbed in decisive manner. Four OUT OF FIVE ATTACKING MAN DIED .

This was Ivar s first kill .Also and it happened so fast that he could not think about what he had just done !! He wanted to vomit but than looked at his half-scared fellow men and forcefully stopped the act.Only that bulky captain was left and he had to be dealt with. He was now at the range of the short swords so the shield team took them out and tried to kill him .Captain skillfully dogged the arriving swords and stepped away But how could Ivar let this chance slip by . The captain did not expect an attack from the back and while he was occupied with shield team ivar operated his qi circulation arts and moved pass him . The breezepassed him and stabbed him in the legs. This was the greatest thing he learned when he was hunting.He

could disable animals by skillfully attacking their lower extremities .Well animals were not as smart as humans so to achieve this against people he needed to use some of deception and misdirection .Shield wall team just provided him with that .Now with his legs disabled captain was a sitting duck and was slaughtered by the three man with spears from the middle .

The four captains the dragons and were astonished .They saw something unbelievable.t=That small laughing stock of the team actually killed that 5 men squad in such a decisive despicable manner.The captains face grew darker and also the blue dragon had black expression on him .

"Those fools got themselves killed and they did not even mange to kill one of them , what a waste! what a waste !".Only Chernoly was laughing hard and enjoying situation .

Now the whole situation changed , those sheep were dangerous now. Four four men squad captains were in grievance for their fallen brother .They were in the same squad for three years ,they were brothers and now their brother is no more ! Revenge to the mall boy that inflicted the leg wound ! Death to him !

But now they needed a plan ! SO THEY DECIDED TO GO AS two eight- men squads that attacked from the front and the rear ! Also they placed captains from the sides to crush the corners of the formation witch was clearly a weak part of whole fort strategy.How wrong were they !

The dragons were clearly arguing and cheering for their respective squads. Only queen was silent but the moves done by the Ivar did give her some thrill .I mean she just wanted to have a good fight and in the start it looked like it would be one sided but that young man leadership did the job and shabby commoners killed superior captain and 4 roaring men.Now she was interested if young man could pull the same thing twice .

Ivar gathered his men as the vultures ( two eight- men squads with captain on the edges) circled to get better positions and charge upon them.Now he needed to implement second stage of his plan.He would need to act as bait for grieving captains so he changed position to be cornerstone of the one side of the fort. When one 8-men squad noticed it it changed its battle plan so the captains could attack Ivar and avenge the bulky man.This was not noticed by second 8- men squad and they continued with original battle deployment. Then Ivar signaled for the forth change .Originally his forth was a square with 4 men on each side .Now he ordered for his rear two sides to merge into one ( the ones that were going to be attacked by eight-men squad with captains on the edge ).Also that two four-men sides became 6 men wall and he could strengthen his attacking group with two men that were spare .Now his strategy was 4 men on his right and left and 6 at his back , he also had six in the middle that would attack with spears ! He transformed 4 men square formation into triangle with 4 men on his left and right and 6 men at his back.

Whole point of this strategy was that he would separate captains in opposing team.In the start

with enemy plans his two corners were going to be killed by 4 captains now he got three corners . The corners on the far right and left would be attacked by 1 captain each and the his corner would be attacked by two captains . He could be only on one corner at the time and that would made another corner vulnerable so he decided to split enemy captains with his little ploy. Ivar also did this because he hoped that with this positioning Chrernoly( black dragon) would use his fire attack and slaughter eight men in one go(Ivar understood the fire dragons language and knew that two dragons are allowed to use one of their magic attacks on the opposing team) and with his large shields he could lessen the fire damage of the dragons attack .This was just what happened. As soon as the 8 men squad was going to engage the 6 men shield wall large black dragon made great fireball and attacked them with it ).All men from the squad were scared as great fireball was upon them but the shield men wall did not move one bit .They all knew IVAR WAS THE MAN of the miracles and decided to stick to the plan. Screams were heard and 8 men squad died in flames. Some of the shields from shield wall also exploded but since the dragons attack was not aiming on them but brushed them to the side .The Ivans back wall squad only got some secondary burns but still they were bit tired and could not fully participate in the next fight .

Blue dragon was so mad right now .He wanted to find a target for his rage and as Ivar was the one who devised whole plan of the battle for opposing team he decided to unleash his magic attack try to kill them. He flew up in the sky and was ready to do his fireball but Ivar was not in the shield wall point.

That was true objective of his great plan ! He knew that blue dragon would be so mad that would not try to kill many just him. That was the main reason why he gave orders loudly - TO drag firstly 2 captains to him and weaken their battle strategy and than secondly to use the blue dragons flame against them.

So he dashed as fast as he could and operated the first level of qi circulation manual .By hairs length he evaded the sword attacks from two captains and than as swords blades clearly brushed against his body started to taunt bought captains and the dragon .

HAHA Your friends died! haha ITS so stupid to challenge me to a fight .! Who am i ! I am a lord of the universe ! I am the raider of might dragons and see that dragon over there ! -and he pointed to blue dragon !

"That shit over there is my stewards cow! I only use it to get some dragons milk!"and then he ran while two captains continued to chase him.

Well every one knew that dragons do not produce milk but still that was not a simple insult !

And this flea clearly proclaimed that he used a mighty dragon as a cow ! Even that 2 captain that were so eager to kill them had become scared as mighty screch filled the air. Dragons had better hearing than most of the humans and this insult was heard by all of his clan members .Even the queen laughed at him and that was the straw that broke camels back he was crazy

right now. He wanted to kill that human .He wanted to eat him and slowly pluck out his spine out of his body .
