1 chapter one (edited)

C-cold… Why am I feeling so cold? Where is my blanket?

I couldn't feel my blanket, so I opened my eyes to search for it.

*yawn*

It looks that I was sleeping in an alley between two buildings while covered by some snow.

I rubbed my eyes, then looked at my surrounding. I'm not sure why, but it looks like I'm in old japan. It seems like I'm dreaming about an old-looking Japanese city.

There were also fantasy things in the city. All the people of the city have two horns on their heads. Also, their ears were slightly pointy.

None of the people were wearing modern-looking clothes. Most people are wearing Japanese-looking clothing and some of them are wearing tattered cloth. There wasn't even a single horse in the city, but in their place, there were giant lizards like creatures. Some of them carry a single person, and some are big enough to move a whole carriage.

*yawn*

Weird… I can yawn in my dream? I stepped outside the alley and looked at the bright night sky that got my attention.

I gasped… I have never seen a sky full of stars like this before. There are even two moons, a green one and a blue one.

Suddenly someone bumped my shoulder, and I was about to fall.

"Don't stand in the way, peasant."

Ow… peasant? what was that for?

I glared at the back of the man who bumped me.

He looks tough with a big body. So I held myself from complaining.

Now that I think about it, not only the man's body was huge. Most people in this city are tough looking and have some muscles in their arms. Even women in this city have some muscles.

I stared at my body. It seems I was wearing shabby cloth the whole time and my body looks thinner, like I lost 10kg or more. It seems I became an underweight person in this dream.

I felt somehow familiar with the city, so I started wandering around.

I wandered around until I reached the shopping area.

There were armor shops, restaurants, cloth shops, blacksmiths, jewelers, herbs shop, alchemy shops, and the last place I saw is the adventurer guild. I even saw an NPC from a certain RPG game that disguises himself as a oni but is actually a human.

Now that I think about it, all the people in this city look the same as the Oni demon race from that RPG game I played.

What an interesting dream.

Since this is a dream, I was interested in being an adventurer, so I entered the adventurer guild

When I entered the guild, I felt something weird, like I'm in a really warm place. The dream was too real that I thought that this is reality.

Looking around the guild, I haven't seen a single human. Weird… isn't adventurer guild a place for humans?

I went to a female receptionist to ask her to register me as an adventurer. She looks pretty with the appearance of a cool type older sister and unlike other people, she has only one horn in the middle of her forehead.

Before I could say anything, the receptionist lady with a tired expression told me with a warning gaze.

"Excuse me, beggars are not allowed in here."

"I'm not here to beg for money, I have something to ask the guild."

She raised her eyebrows with a questioning expression.

"Sorry, do you need something from the hunter guild?"

"Yes, I want to register as an adventurer."

"Do you mean to register as a hunter?"

"Yes, whatever."

"Ok, can you pay for the guild ID card?"

"…no, I don't have money."

"Ok, I can register you in name but you can't rank up until you get an ID card."

"Alright, I don't mind, I will pay for the ID later."

She pulled out a paper, then a yellow gem.. while holding the gem by her left hand she asked.

"what's your name?"

"Lucas Harold"

The gem she holding changed color into green after about 2 seconds. Then she began writing my name.

"What was that?"

"It's a lie-detecting gem. It helps us against people who fake their identity."

"Ooh…"

She grabbed the gem who just returned to its original color and questioned me again.

"Your age?"

"20 years old."

"Be serious, there is no way you are 20 years old. Looking at your appearance, you look around 30 years old."

"Rude, I do not look that old and you haven't even checked the gem. It's green."

"Ha?? Green? So, you are underage?"

"…but I'm not."

While staring at me with an astonished expression she said.

"Sorry, although you do not look like it, since your age below 26, you are a minor. No matter what you say, you still a minor. It's the law, you can't register into the hunter guild without your parents' permission until you reach 26 years old."

Why do they need my parents' permission for? Seriously, I have never been in a so demanding dream like this.

"My parents are not in this world."

"Ha??"

"What I'm trying to say is that my parents aren't with me in this world."

"..."

She was staring at me with a troubled face.

Why are you giving me that look?

"With these circumstances of being an orphan, it's permissible to register in this guild at a young age."

"…ok"

"One last thing, do you want to be appraised? We may skip a hunter rank for you depending on your status."

"Appraise status?"

"You don't even know about status? It's a thing that shows you your current level and strength and skills and your job class."

"Can I see my own status?"

"Only if you have the skill appraisal or an artifact that can appraise."

"Oh ok, appraise my status."

"Ok, please give me your hand."

I put my hand in front of her, then she held it with both her hands, then her hand started glowing with some magic.

"Hmm, it's the first time I've seen someone with the (Unemployed Lv 1 max) at your age… everyone I've seen at your age has a class job. Before you take a request from the guild, you should get a class job or you will die as a hunter."

"Really?"

"Yeah, let me write all your stats information on another paper so I can show them to you…"

After a moment, she handed me the paper.

"This is how your status looks like."

[Name: Lucas Harold

Level: 1

Race: Oni

HP: 100

MP: 10

Attack power: 10

Defensive power: 10

Stamina: 10

Agility: 10

Class jobs: (Unemployed Lv 1 max)]

…these stats seem familiar to that game I played.

"So, what is a class job?"

"A class job is something you may unintentionally pick up in your journey. These jobs will provide you Levels and they will affect your stats growth. A basic job will provide 5 to 10 levels at max, as for an advanced job it will provide 30 levels at max. You can get as many class jobs as you can until you reach level 100, which is the overall limit of all the jobs you have in your status, but you still can get a new job if you remove one from your status by asking a black mage, as for humans it's the priest."

"How do I get a class job intentionally?"

"There are conditions to get a class job. First, the basic jobs, you can get these by doing some conditions, for example, to get a hunter class job, you have to hunt 5 monsters and 1 E-rank monster, for a cook class job you have to cook 3 meals a day for a whole week, for magician class you have to use a magic skill once."

Hmm, so far the plot is going the same way as the game I have played.

"Second, the intermediate jobs, they have better growth in stats than basic jobs. You can get these jobs by a black mage after you max out the level of some basic jobs. For example, you can get the intermediate job swordsman after you max out the level of basic job warrior. If you also have a magician job at the max level, you can also get Spellsword job class."

…Ok, this dream plot really is the same as the RPG eroge game (Snoria Fearless War) that I started playing just recently. It was the most famous eroge game this year.

"Finally, the advanced job, I only know a little ab-"

"Ok ok, I already know about that. You don't have to explain it."

"Ah, sure. Please get a class job before you take a request."

"Thanks, I will come back the moment I get a class job."

After a moment, I exited the guild and suddenly.

*breeeeze*

C-cold!! I re-entered the guild and felt the warmth again.

hmm!?

I exited the guild once again and then

*breeeeeeeze*

I felt an even stronger icy wind.

"Is this even a dream??"

While I was getting awareness of my current situation, the receptionist called me.

"Sir, it's too cold outside, you don't seem to have a place to stay. How about you stay inside the guild for today?"

"…uhh, no I'm… fine. Just let me think for a bit."

I sat on an empty seat inside the adve-… I mean the hunter guild and started thinking about my situation.

While sitting, I started inspecting my face because I had a feeling that there were two extra things on my head and found out that there are 2 horns coming out of my forehead. So even my appearance changed.

"How did I end up in this situation...."

As far as you can see, I, Lucas Harold, a college student who turned 20 this year, seems to have been transported into a world of an eroge game called (Snoria Fearless War).

After the lecture at the college, I was playing a famous brand eroge game in an apartment where I lived alone. I was lying on the bed while playing the game on my laptop, I was tired of saving then going back to old and older save file just to find a strategy and finish this 'Easy Mode' of this game. Then I slept and forgot to shut my laptop down, and the moment I woke up, I was in this strange world. I don't even know why and how I got here.

What worse is that it seems I'm in Hard Mode of this eroge game world. To explain things, you can choose two sides in the game, the human side, and the demon side. On the human side, it's Easy Mode. You start with beginner equipment, 3000 coins, 2 heroines as your partner, and a hero class job which is the best-advanced job you can get as far as I know. As for the Hard Mode, it's on the demon side. You only get 300 coins at the start. No extra equipment, no partner to fight with you, no class job to start with. On the demon side, you have 3 times more weakness against holy attacks, and the last boss you will face on this side is the goddess. That why I don't enjoy playing on the demon side.

The human side includes elves, dark elves, dwarves, and humans, On the other hand, the demon side includes, werewolves, and Onis, Orcs not the pig ones but the western-looking ones, also Succubuses of course since this is an eroge.

If you are wondering, there is nothing called incubus in the game. Succubuses mate with the other races.

…wait, now that I think about it, do I actually have the 300 coins? They should be in my inventory… let's try something I learned from reading mangas and novels.

"Open inventory... open status...…"

Sigh… nothing happened. Even the guild receptionist starting to give me the weird look. If only I can somehow open the game menu.

*bink*

huh…?

[ Game Menu:

(Status)

(Inventory)

(Shop)

(Crafting)

(Map) ]

No way! It's here, the game menu!! With everything on it!!! It's exactly like the one that appears on your computer screen. Now let's try something else. Open game settings.

...…

Oh, nothing happened. Oh well, let's just start checking the game menu.

Hmm, the status information looks the same as the one written in the paper that the receptionist gave me, but here, I can also see how my body looks like as like in the game where it shows you the model of your character, but for some reason, the model looks a little different from what I've known from the game.

My face resembles my original one from my previous life but it seems more wicked with extra 2 horns and pointy ears.

let's check the other things.

[ inventory:

(coins: 300) ]

Ok, I have the 300 coins, but how will I summon them? Should I try pressing on it?

*poke*

a new window appeared saying-

[ drop quantity coins (300/001 [+][-] )

(Okay) (cancel) ]

I pressed on (okay) then a coin appeared from nowhere on the table and the coins in my inventory became 299.

While grabbing the coin, I was wondering how to put it back in the inventory, then pointed my coin in the inventory window…

*bink*

[ do you want to put this item in the inventory (Yes) (No) ]

I pressed on (yes) then the coin disappeared and my coins in the inventory returned into 300 quantity.

Nice, now let close the inventory menu and open the map menu.

The map looks exactly the same as the map of the RPG game I played. Only the demon side countries are shown on the map, the human side countries are all hidden. I should be able to see and view the information of one of the human side country once I enter it.

…now thinking about a class job, there are many other jobs to get, but they are hard to get since I'm too broke right now. I will just find an NPC that will help me get some class jobs or I will just join the military, I think they will protect me since I have the inventory skill that no one else has. But if I joined the military, and they cherished my skill too much, they will not let me leave the country or join the hunter guild, so let leave the military as a last choice.

For now, let's check the shop menu.

Oh, it looks exactly like the one in the game. I think I know how the rest of the game menu works.

When I closed the game menu, I stood up from my chair and went back to the receptionist.

"yes, is there something you want to ask?"

"I want to know how much the ID card will cost."

"It cost 70 coins, sir."

I don't know if that cheap or not. Oh yeah, I forgot that my coins are in my inventory. I should arrange my coins in a pocket next time to not look suspicious by pulling them out of nowhere. Hmm, let's see what work will the guild offer for a beginner hunter first.

"What can I do when I start working as a hunter?"

"When you get your hunter ID card, you will start with the rank f and will be able to take a request suitable for your rank."

"Can I see how the requests for the F ranks look like?"

"Ok, wait for a little."

She went somewhere and brought back some papers with her.

Most are hunting requests, Gray wolf… green slim… wild boar… scout area… if this was an adventurer guild I would find many other things like herb gathering, guarding, mining, and dungeon exploring… oh, there is actually dungeon exploring here. But Isn't that too early for F rank?

[ Explore and map the first floor of the undead dungeon

Reward: 500 coins or more depending on the information

recommended level: 10… ]

Are you kidding? Level 10? The recommended level for this dungeon in the game is 35. Even if it exploring and not clearing, it's still dangerous. Is it the basic level for hardmode?

"Hey, can I comment about this request?"

"Is there something strange about it?

"This request is too difficult for an F rank."

"…Why do you think that?"

"I mean, there isn't a single easy dungeon in the demons' side…"

"…what?"

"Ugh, I mean this dungeon has some annoying traps that teleport you to a different floor deep in the dungeon where the monsters' level is there is higher. Even if you're careful enough to avoid these traps, the difficulty of the dungeon is still high since the undeads there are 20% stronger than any undead outside the dungeon and they appear at level 15 from the first floor."

"…hmm, ok, I will inform the guild master. Thanks for reporting."

Oh well, at least I could hunt goblins when I get a class job. I'm too tired today, I will go rest in an inn for now.

"One last thing, where can I find a cheap inn?"

After following the directions the guild receptionist gave me, I reached the inn. I was about to die from the cold. I entered the inn and before I talk to the innkeeper, I summoned 10 coins on my hand.

For some reason, only one large coin appears. It seems that a large coin = 10 coins. I summoned another 40 coins and now I have 5 large coins on hand.

"Excuse me, do you have an available room?"

"yes, we have a room available."

"How much for one night?"

"Staying for a night cost 15 coins. If you also want breakfast, it's cost totally 20 coins."

That even cheaper than the inns from the game, they cost 50 coins in one night, but they recover your full HP and cure side effects. I wonder if the inns in this world have similar effects from the game. It will also be great if all the game systems I'm familiar with are still working in this world.

"Alright, a room for 2 nights with breakfast."

"It will cost 40 coins."

"Here you go."

I put the large coins on the table, then he gave me a key and the number of the room.

Like I thought a large coin is really 10 coins.

I entered the room and went to my bed, then collapse on it. I was so tired, I just want to cover up and sleep for now. I closed my eyes and slept for the rest of the night.

*knock knock*

"Sir, your breakfast is ready. Please come and take it."

*yawn* it seems it's already morning.

"…just put the meal inside the room"

A young girl entered the room with a food tray on her hands.

"I will put your meal on the table, ok?"

"Sure."

Right after she put the plates on the table, she left the room. Wait, you will not ask me if I need anything else?

There was one cup of water, a piece of bread, and a vegetable soup. Nothing much… as expected of a 5 coins meal. So anyway, with the cup of water, I use it to wash my mouth, then my dusty hands with it. Finding a place to take a cool bath later would be nice.

…so I really transmigrated into the game and it's not a dream… and this city is the city you first spawn in from hardmode, Galia The Oni City. Since there is only oni race in the city, it seems I'm at the beginning of the story where all the demon races still independent from each other. What I know from when I was playing easymode is that all the demons will join forces together when the demon lord awakens her power near the end of the game. I don't really think I will survive if I were to battle against the hero and the goddess, so before it's too late I should find a new place to live far away from humans.

It's still too dangerous to leave this city now. I have to get some class jobs somehow.

I finished my meal, then went to the innkeeper to ask him for the current exact date and I found out that it's 689/11/29 today. The hero will be summoned exactly at the start of next year at noon. There is about one month until the hero from another world will be summoned to the holy kingdom.

[You learned foresight] [condition met: you got a (magician lv1) class job for using a magic skill once (foresight)]

What? Did I get a class job from just thinking? And what is foresight?

[foresight is a magic skill that lets you predict a short moment of what will happen in the future.

MP usage: 130 / cooldown after usage: 12 hours / active time: 2 sec]

I'm glad I got a job because of it, but it doesn't look like I can even use the skill. Is it a bug?

let check my status.

[Name: Lucas Harold

Level: 1

Race: Oni

HP: 140

MP: 13/-377

Attack power: 10

Defensive power: 10

Stamina: 10

Agility: 10

Class jobs: (magician Lv 1 )

skills: foresight (new) / LV1-fire (new) / LV1-wind (new) / LV1-water (new) ]

What the heck happened to the MP? Is it because I used foresight because of the bug? Will I be able to recover my MP? Oh it became -376. It seems it recovers just like in the game, 1 MP per minute. So anyway, only the HP and MP changed from the status, these two will be affected the most by the magician class job. I also got some new skills.

[ LV1-fire skill is a fire type attack magic that lets you create a weak fire.

MP usage: 10 / Damage: 3 ATK x (100% attack power) / cooldown: 15 sec ]

So the best damage I could do is 30 and if I level up my skill, I will get an additional 10% attack power per level, and if I max out the skill level to LV10, the effect of my attack power will become 190%.

The other skills detail look all the same, but the attack type thing is the difference.

I exited the inn and wandered around the town to search for some NPCs and gave up when I didn't find any NPC after about an hour. I only played the hardmode a little, so I remember a little about its NPCs. Oh right, there was an NPC that disguise as a oni in this city, but I don't think I need to meet him.

I went to the shopping area and bought a bag. Other items like potions and equipment and weapons, I can get them when I want from the game menu shop, so I need nothing other than the bag from the shopping area. Even aphrodisiacs and sex toys are in my menu shop, but I should not spend my coins on these items yet.
