22 Justin's Surprise Birthday
"Where are we going next?" I ask him. Then, he points out the fast-food chain, and shortly after, my stomach growls so I respond with a nod.
So we walk inside the fast-food, straight to the counter. Theodore orders some food as I stroll to a vacant table. I lean my face to my inner palm as my elbow nudges to the table. 'I wonder what is Christian doing right now?' I ask myself.
'W-what? Why am I asking myself about Christian?! Why am I thinking of him?' I shake my head to eliminate my shun thoughts and strive to think of something else but it's not helping.
"Mia, are you okay?" Theodore snaps me into a reality when he asks me. I haven't noticed that he's sitting in front of me.
I just nod.
"Do you like my brother?" I choke on my food and hurriedly drink my water.
"W-what?! No, I-I don't like him!" I exclaim as I clear my throat.
"Okay. I'm just asking." He shrugs and continues eating his food.
"You. Are you asking Justin out on a date?" He nods.
"I realize that my feelings for him are not just little brother but love. He was always there for me when I'm having a mental breakdown and he's taking care of me when my girlfriend broke up with me. It's just that, I didn't recognize his feelings to the point that I'm hurting him and almost lost him. I don't want that to happen." He explains, placing down his utensils.
"Justin likes you so it's normal to him that he's hurting seeing you hurt and seeing that he doesn't have hope to change your mind to like him," I utter.
"I know. I take all his feelings for granted and when he left our apartment, I realized that I can't live without his warmth and his presence so now I'm asking him out and also asking him for another chance if he wants to."
"He will. I promise." I let out but before Theodore tells something, my phone rings and so rashly, I answer it when seeing 'Yoongi' on the phone.
"Let's go." He sternly says and hangs up the phone without giving me time to respond.
"Who is it?" He asks.
Slowly, I look at Theo, stunned, and reply, "It's Yoongi. I think he's pissed off. Let's go." He nods as we walk out of the fast-food chain.
Hastily, we run back to the parking lot and when seeing Yoongi sulking, I begin to laugh.
"What's with that face?" I ask Yoongi.
"Justin doesn't let me pick for myself. He keeps telling me that today is his birthday and buys him some lamb skewers. Now, I'm bankrupt by this man." He asserts as he opens his car door and walks inside the driver's seat.
"Stop clinging your arms around me, Jennie!" Jasper pushes Jennie's arm around him yet she doesn't flinch and clings to his arm.
"No! You are the love of my life!" She exclaims.
"Just get inside! I need to give the address to the guys so they follow us to the house." Jennie whines but she does what Jasper commands.
"Huh..." Nothing comes out of mind when seeing their push and pull relationship.
"Get inside Mia!" I flinch when Theo exclaims so I step inside the car as he starts the engine and drives back to our cabin.
Night has passed and the preparation of Justin's surprise birthday is completed. We place a big mat along with the small pillows around the campfire. Behind the mat, I placed the big table so we could place the foods and beers.
"Are we ready?" Jennie asks them and we all nod. Meanwhile, Theo becomes Justin's eyes for direction since he's wearing a blindfold.
"SURPRISE!" We exclaim when Theo takes off the blindfold. On the other hand, Justin smiles widely and fascinates him by our accomplishment for his surprise without noticing him.
"You are just oblivious that's why," Jasper says. Then, he takes out the beer and individually distributes it.
"CHEERS FOR JUSTIN'S BIRTHDAY!" Theodore lifts his beer, cheers him, and drinks the beer.
He's very happy when we start giving the gift to him. And when my eyes travel to Theodore, I sign him to give his gift. He nods and drinks his beer before standing up and fetching his gift.
"Where's Theo?" I shrug it off and chug my beer.
Minute has passed, Theodore appears from nowhere with his gifts. And when Justin turns around and sees Theo, his eyes wide, watching Theodore holding a sunflower bouquet with the small paper bag. So I push Justin towards Theodore and he almost stumbles. Luckily, Theodore catches him.
"This is for you. Happy birthday, Jus," He announces as he gives the gift to Justin.
"H-how did you know?" Theodore pointed at me but I just shrugged my left shoulder.
"Thank you."
"I-I want to say." Justin hums. Theo holds Justin's hands and gives it a quick peck of Justin's outer palm. Justin's face turns into a blush.
"Justin, I want to thank you for everything you did to me. Taking care of me when I'm sick. Encouraging me when I feel down and most importantly you are always here for me to save me from death but I always take it for granted that almost lost you but now, I'm not doing it again. I'll be always here for you to love you and to cherish you. So please give me another chance to make it up to you. Do you want to be my boyfriend?" We all silence, waiting for Justin to answer yet he's not responding.
I observe that Theodore becomes anxious when Justin is looking at him, blankly.
"Jus?" Justin flinches when Theo poking his cheeks. He bites his lips, awkwardly laughs as he scrapes his nape.
"I-I... Sorry I was stunned when you asked me out. I almost want to lose hope when you are not interested in me."
"So... what's your answer?" Theo.
"Ohh. Ahm..." Theo raises his brow whilst staring at Justin
Yes! I want to be your boyfriend." Justin jumps at Theo, hugging him tightly. As they cheer them and congratulate the new couple, my eyes wander to rummage Christian.
There, I glimpse him sitting on the sand. I bring two beers for us and walk in his direction and sit beside him.
"Beer?" He nods and accepts the beer. He drinks the beer while observing the night sky.
"Why are you here alone?"
"Nothing. I want to have some fresh air." I hum and silence myself since I couldn't find any words to open some topics.
"Do you want to hike tomorrow morning?" He asks out of nowhere.
"Okay."
