Grinding: Tree [Chapter 4]

"Hey, Blankk right?"

I say as he looks back to me from around a corner of my house.

"Yea, what's up?"

He asks as I walks towards him.

"How hard is it for you to level up? Like if we got down right now and started doing pushups, how many would it take for you to level up?"

I ask as he scratches the back of his head. He closes his eyes and thinks for a moment before nodding.

"If I had to guess, probably around five thousand."

He says as I nod and go down into pushup position. I start doing pushups rapidly as he stares at me in confusion.

"Are you really about to pump out five thousand pushups to level up?"

He asks as I nod and continue doing pushups. As I hit my 50th pushup a notification appears.

[+500 Exp Gained!]

[Level Gained!]

Why did that give more experience than cutting the wood logs? And why that much experience at 50?

I think as I stand up and look at my stats.

I need to test my hypothesis to see if strength determines my speed as well. I'll put all ten points into strength, which in theory should increase my speed by five.

That proves it. Half of my strength score is added onto the existing speed score. And it seems my hp is directly related to my constitution, so I may need to invest more points into constitution.

I think as I see Blankk doing pushups out of the corner of my eye.

"How much experience do you get per fifty pushups?"

I ask as he looks up at me.

"Like five or six points."

He says as he continues doing pushups at a rapid rate.

So, for some reason my abilities multiply off of each other. But not in all situations. Why is cutting logs different than pushups experience wise?

I think as I suddenly have an idea. I quickly grab my axe and walk towards a thick tree. With one mighty swing of the axe, it shatters. The wood handle exploding outward as the blade jams into the tree.

"Shit, too strong."

I mumble as I sigh and ball up my fist.

"Maybe using tools gives less experience then doing it by hand."

I say as I punch the tree with everything I have. I manage to punch a chunk out of the tree, but it cuts the skin on my hand.

[-0 HP]

I lost zero? How does that work since I'm feeling pain? Is that thanks to the luck?

I think as I sigh and punch the tree again. This time it doesn't hurt, and again I take a chunk out of the tree.

[-0 HP]

I proceed to punch the tree repeatedly until I manage to knock it over. As the tree hits the ground a notice appears.

"So punching trees is a great way to level up, how very video game like."

I say jokingly as I put 20 points into strength and 10 into constitution.

I hear Blankk speak up from about twenty feet behind me.

"I might be imagining things, but did I just see you punch down a tree?"

He asks as I nod and look at him while holding my hand.

"Why, is that really strange?"

I ask as he nods wildly.

"I've only seen Class-B to Class-S individuals with that kind of strength."

He says as I smile.

"Hey, go do whatever you want for a bit. I'm gonna grind a bit."

I say as he shakes his head in confusement and walks away. I quickly walk into my destroyed house and grit my teeth. I take a deep breath before grabbing some cloth and fabric to wrap my hands and wrists. I quickly wrap both hands and forearms before walking back outside and going wild, throwing punches at a tree.

"One down, let's keep going."

I mumble as I lose myself in thought. For almost half an hour I lose myself while rushing every tree I see. Thunderous crashes occasionally snapping me from thought. As I snap back into reality I see a notice in front of me that leaves me speechless.

"I might've gone overboard."

I whisper as I open my stats menu and stare in amazement.

After several seconds of astonishment and bewilderment, a thought comes to mind.

"Shouldn't I have only gained two-hundred and ninety attribute points?"

I mumble confusedly before I start allocating points more intelligently.

If I put everything into strength then I won't be able to dodge, I'll be fast but my reaction won't be high enough.
