59 After the battle

After witnessing that brutal scene, no one spoke for quite some time. Even the battle loving wolf kin had no words to say when they saw the scene. The ending was such a surprise that no one but Clarise was stunned by the turn of events. At the beginning of the fight, they saw that Raymond was only dodging and parrying attacks.

The majority of the people watching thought he was going to lose, or if he won it would be at an incredible price. The only one who saw through what was actually happening was Clarise. From start to finish it was Raymond who was in control of the battle.

Though she was surprised at Deza suddenly using [Moon Bereserker] which increased all his physical attributes, she was more surprised by how easily Raymond dealt with him. Back in her peak, she was sure that she would've been a bit better than Deza even after he used [Moon Berserker], but the difference was only by a little bit. The fight against someone physically superior like that would have been a great challenge for her, but Raymond made it look so simple.

'How strong is he exactly?' Clarise looked at Raymond's fading back and sighed. The first time she saw him, she was sure that she would be able to match him if she got serious, but now she wasn't so sure. Raymond's strength seems unfathomable.

'Still, why did he react so strongly to just a little scratch? Was that the first time he ever took damage?' When Clarise thought of that, an amazing yet frightening thought came to mind. She quickly turned around and asked her brother if he has ever seen Raymond get hit before.

Hearing his sister's question Daniel started to think about every time Raymond has fought. Now that he thought about it not once has the Guild Master ever suffered an injury, not even a small scratch. In fact, not even a stain of blood from his enemies has hit him.

When Clarise heard what Daniel said she was truly surprised. Even she who was praised as a once in a generation genius was unable to replicate such a feat. She has been battered and bruised during her rise in power. Yet the man who looked to be around sixteen years of age, and who has been living in a forest full of monsters for who knows how many years has never suffered an injury.

'I see... So he has never suffered an injury before, much less a loss. A genius that hasn't lost before a genius that has never suffered even a scratch, might have a hard time accepting getting hurt from a battle for the first time. He might've been in shock by what happened. Still, I wonder why he didn't finish it as quickly as possible, since based on what I saw he could've ended it whenever he wanted to...'

Clarise closed her eyes and tried remembering every detail of the battle. She recalled the start of the battle until the point Raymond ripped off the hands of Deza. Raymond kept on dodging the attacks by a hairsbreadth and parried those he couldn't dodge. That was when Clarise came to another realization.

'He was training himself! Even during such a battle, he was training!' Clarise was shocked by her own realization. She now had a better opinion of Raymond.

While Clarise was analyzing Raymond's battle, Raymond was hearing the system's voice in his head.

"Due to the host failing the mission, the host will receive a penalty."

"WTF you never said anything about a penalty." Disregarding what Raymond said the system's voice continued on.

"The system's function of suppressing the host's emotions will be disabled for the next ten minutes." Raymond was about to ask what the system meant by that when he suddenly felt a torrent of emotions. To the surprise of everyone there Raymond suddenly screamed.
