T-junction at the end of this road.

The two kids looked at him at the same time, what did he mean that I won't always be there, aren't parents supposed to protect their kids and play with their grandchildren in their old age? Was he going to leave him?

A lot of emotions were displayed on Amir's handsome face. Pain and dejection were the most visible emotions.

"Are you going to leave me?" Amir asked slightly trembling. Though Amir was lazy and had a playful personality, in all honesty, he was an introvert. What he was afraid of most was being abandoned. He rarely made friends and was mostly found alone. So hearing that his father would not always be there for him sent a wrong message to his brain.

Looking at his son who seemed like an abandoned little lamb, Adelio was bewildered. Why the strong reaction. When did he say anything about him leaving.

"When did I say am going to leave you? I never married because of you. Do you think I will late you leave a peaceful life? Dream on."

Adelio sneered at his son. " but that doesn't mean I want a wimp for a son. You are already so big and soon you will have a family of your own. You will have to train hard so that you can protect your wife and children or do you want a woman to protect your family on your behalf…." Adelio was still educating his son when a maid walked in.

She curtseyed respectfully and said, "Sir, you have a visitor."

"I will be there right away," he said to the maid.

After the maid left he looked at his son and said, "reflect on what I just said. If I don't see any change, you won't like the punishment I will give to you." After saying this he got up and left the two children.

After Adelio left, the two kids sat there eating quietly, not looking anywhere else but at their food.

Amir knew that his father was only looking out for him but he didn't understand why. What was the point of a businessman to be strong? He will just take over his father's business anyway. What puzzled him the most was that his father had taught him everything except running a business.

"I'm sorry," after a long while of silence and contemplation Amir said. His voice was barely audible.

Liat looked at him and asked, "you said something?" her face still expressionless.

Looking at that beautiful yet expressionless face, Amir chuckled as he repeated his words, " I said, am sorry. I'm afraid of losing you. I don't want to get stronger because I don't want you to leave me." There was a hint of fear in his voice. He liked this little girl's company and he didn't want her to leave. He was a man of few friends. Even though men and women can never be considered innocent friends in this era, he still considered her to be his friend.

"There is a T-junction at the end of this road." She was looking at him as she said this. Her voice was calm as she said this.

"Our journey will take different turns when we reach the end of this road. When the time comes we will have to surrender to fate."

Anyone who heard this could hear the pain in her voice. She knew her destiny and she couldn't change even if she wanted to.

"what do you mean by what you just said?" Amir was confused by what Liat said. He didn't understand a single word she said or maybe he didn't want to understand.

"No matter how strong a woman may be, she can never fight in a war while pregnant. Amir, our fates were sealed at birth."

Liat looked at the closed-door which Adelio had used when he left earlier. She was lost in her thoughts, her gaze never living the door like her life depended on it. It was like she was taking a glimpse of what the future holds.

"I'm a woman and in this society, there are things I can not do. Whatever is written in the stars cannot be changed." After saying this, she returned to her normal self. When she turned to look at the other person in the room, there was a confused and injured expression on Amir's face.

Seeing this, Liat couldn't help but smile at him.
