1 Chapter 1 New Town, New Me

The problem with being the new kid, is that nobody knows you. Well obviously, but it goes deeper than that, much deeper. It means that you have a difference in ideology as well as crowd, especially when you're not even from California.

I woke up to the downfall of rain, the bumps and jeers of a car. I don't even know where I was to begin with, waking with a small groan, I fumbled around the car looking for my phone, when my dad holds it up from the front seat, saying, "You really shouldn't stay on this so much, it's like your conjoined at the hip with this thing."

"Cmon dad just give it here," begrudgingly he handed it over, still not liking the way I was on it constantly, and I knew it, it was unhealthy but what else do I have to do on these long car rides.

My father was a bear of a man about 6'5 and 300 pounds, a bear might be an overstatement but he was a big dude to say the least. He has brown, slightly curly hair, a square jaw and serious green eyes that could tear a hole through your soul. At the same time he has never been angry with me. He's the best father a guy could ask for, but he holds a pain in those eyes that I just can't explain.

I feel a buzz from the phone I set on my thigh, ah a girl, great. Looking at my phone I see 'Jessica', a girl I kind of led on in my last school. I knew I was going to move but didn't tell her, I know I'm an asshole attack me later.

I toss my phone aside with a grunt as I look out the window. A sign flies by as I catch words in big blue letters 'Beacon Hills'

....

We pull up to a suburban house, two bed, one bath, one garage, the usual.

"Alright I don't know how long we're gonna be here so don't get too comfortable, or do it's up to you," says my Dad in a gravelly voice.

I grab the bag with my clothes and head inside, to my surprise the house is already well furnished and my face lights up as I see an BexBox 420 decked out with two controllers and some of the classics.

I shoot an inquisitive look at my dad and all he does is grin as he heads into his room. I do the same as I see there's some of my favorite bands on the walls such as Ponder Lizards, thirty two airborne dudes, and Hot work.

The bed was bare, as though welcoming my sheets and pillows, well if I must.

I come out of my room, slowly opening my dad's door, he sits a desk looking over what looks like an old looking, leather bound book, but that's not what sets me off, what does is what's in the book. It's a drawing of what looks like a hairy guy and a picture of a person cutting another hairy man's head off.

When I enter the room I say,"Whatcha looking at there Dad?"

"Woah there Christian! You scared the shit out of me!", he yelps while hurriedly closing the book, hiding it behind his back as he turns to me.

"Whatcha got there?"

"Nothing much, just an old story book".

"Alright", but I don't believe a word he says, usually when I see one of those books a day or two later we leave again and somebody is dead.

"Well, I just wanted to know where you got all this cool stuff, and before we even got here as well".

"You know the answer to that, I know you're smarter than that. It's the association, they pay for it, I put in a word for the BexBox and the posters though".

My dad works for the 'association' they seem like a freelance agency that proforms bounty hunting on the downlow but legally they somehow are part of the FBI, at least that how he explained it to me. They give us a bunch of cool perks like paying for the houses we live in while on the job. And gas. And cars. Y'know basically everything.

"Did the association pay for that book too?"

"Piss off Christian".

"Alright", as I say this I raise my hands in surrender and turn around, walking out of the room.

Sounds like Call of Duty: Black Ops time to me.

.....

"I need to hit the sack or I'm gonna pass out," I say while I head to my room almost tripping over my feet after playing multiplayer until 2 AM.

I remembered too late that I have school in the morning, being out of school for a few months will do that to you.

Hitting the pillow I almost immediately fall asleep, but before it happens I could've sworn I saw-

[I apologize user. Now this is going to sting]

They were not lying this was going to hurt... more than anything I've ever felt.

Waves of pain wracked my body not leaving an inch of skin devoid of pain. My body screamed in protest as I felt my hair falling out, my finger nails falling out and new ones growing back in. My skin flaked off in swathes and I had to throw off all my clothes to not make them bloody. I could hear my bones wining beneath my skin as my muscles developed into something... more. The worst was when all of my teeth fell out and new ones grew back in as well as every bone in my body breaking then restitching itself back together. My muscles tore through my skin making a nice puddle of blood around me and knitting itself back together. My blood wasn't excluded from change either as the blood on the carpet beneath me evaporated in a red steam, my skin losing all its color before turning a healthy pink. My skull opened up from the top and my brain rose from the cavity only for holy light to burn it away and make a new one.

The last thing I remember is my dad rushing in, reacting to my screams of anguish, I imagine before the world turned black.

.....

When I opened my eyes I was laying down on my bed with new sheets and to my dad sitting in a chair adjacent to the bed. He was asleep and early morning light came in through the blinds.

The first thought was 'god I'm lucky to have a dad like that' and a close second was 'shit I have school today'.

I sat up in bed with a start, shaking my dad awake to where he flinched, staring back at me in the eyes and his eyes were black, like dark, dark black, dark enough to not have any light in them, not even a reflection, it was like all light gets sucked in never to see day again. His eyes were a solid void black. I felt an immediate sense of dread and I didn't notice I wasn't breathing until my dad shook me, calling out my name.

I blinked and the blackness was gone left with only the familiar striking green. "Christian!!" My father yelled out my name.

"I'm sorry I don't know where I went, but I'm gonna be late for school."

"Christian, this is important, what did you just see?"

"What do you mean?"

"When you looked at me you saw something, what did you see?"

"You wouldn't believe me".

"Try me".

"Ok, but I mean it, this is weird, I saw your eyes change, like a void, the darkest black I've ever seen".

"Good, this good".

"How is this good, Dad? I'm going insane!"

"No, you're not, trust me".

"Then what am I then, dad? Because I'm kind of freaking out right now."

"You're a Grimm!"

"What the hell is a Grimm!"

"Shit, well, how do I explain this, you're a person that can see what no one else can see, except for me of course, but the point is you are special".

"What is that supposed to mean! Am I fucked in the head? What the hell does special mean!"

"Language, young man, and quiet your tone, I will not have you speaking to me like that!"

That hit me like a rock, it made me realize that yelling wasn't going to accomplish anything but getting me in trouble.

"I'm sorry dad, I'm just confused".

"I understand, I will explain in further detail when you get home, for now you need to get to school."

"But-".

"No buts, young man, you've already cussed at me once today, you have no space to argue".

I didn't say anything else because I knew he was right.

I threw on some random clothes and my old converses, as well as throw a notebook and a few pencils in my backpack.

When I exited the front door I was met with a pleasant surprise, as my dad was in the front seat of a shining, beautiful Chevrolet Chevelle. It was a matte blue with black racing stripes going down the middle. It was beautiful, especially with a shaker hood (when the engine sticks through the hood, like fast and furious).

My dad just smiled at me and said," One of the perks my son, was delivered this morning".

I opened the door and the Chevelle had a black leather interior with chrome accents.

I answered back with a solid,"Noice".

Before I knew it we were coasting in front of the 'Beacon Hills Highschool' sign.
