1 Prologue: The Healer

In the outskirt of the Town of Swords, located on the western side of the Kingdom of Aresian, a vast grassland town where the territorial ogres terrorized it, and now the mayor of the city held a subjugation quest to exterminate them.

The day was bright. There was almost no cloud in the sky. The sun was staring at us. It's noontime, and I'm watching my friends fight a bunch of ogres. This was 'their' quest, and they needed to finish it before sunset. I was supposed to be part of this subjugation quest, but I'm incapable of defeating such monsters as ogres.

I'm watching one of my friends, Gwendlyn, charge one of the ogres using her sword. 'Hiya!' she shouted as her blade sliced and pierced the ogre's body. The ogre cried in pain before it died from blood loss.

'She's quite energetic today...'

Gwendlyn was born into a noble kingdom noble family, the 'Adelaide family. Their family was known for their classes as knights and swordsmen, and their family was a top tier in that class. Gwendlyn was born as a battlemage. It was considered a rare class because, as far as I remember, she told me that only four people in their family were born as battlemage.

She's fast and robust physically, making her a good fighter in the field since she was taught to use the mastery of the sword and combine magic as a child. That child is resulting in the current Gwen that I'm looking at right now, dashing in the ogres while smiling, her sword emitting a blue light meaning that it was imbued with mana.

She's getting stronger day by day... I'm pretty jealous, but I'm used to it...

She suddenly stopped dashing then I saw her change her stance. Where she pointed her sword in the sky.

Is she going to use her magic?

The mana from her sword move to the very point of her sword. I'm a bit excited since this will be the 2nd time I will see her magic.

''Air stance: Windstorm!!'' she shouted. Suddenly the wind in the sky spun, forming a tornado. As the endpoint of the tornado touched the point of her sword, she looked at me with a smug face.

''Holy---'' before I finished my word, I ran as fast as possible to avoid the tornado she was going to swing. When I looked back, I saw her turn her sword at the ogres 'HAAAAAA!' she shouted as her sword with a tornado hit multiple ogres simultaneously.

I will pray that I will avoid that attack no matter what... When the tornado disappears from her sword, you can see the damage from her attack. A lot of ogres die lying on the devastated ground. Even some of the trees blew off even though the trees were a little bit far from her.

Suddenly the ground shook for a moment, and I looked where it was coming from... Roi Maynard.

A 7ft tall, muscular brown guy holding a large two-handed metallic hammer from the look of his weapon is made from a special metallic alloy that could only be found in the kingdom. Maynard's family is also a well-known family in the kingdom. Their family was considered one of the builders of the empire, but Roi was different. He was the opposite of his family. He was born as a Marauder class, a class specified as a destructor. He used his hammer to destroy and bash his enemy, which is why most of the dead ogres we will see in the ground are either squashed to death or pounded by the hammer.

At the young age of 16, they are already a 2nd-rate class... I suddenly looked at my wooden staff. I was born as a 5th-rate class, a healer in the noble family of a swordsman. These two will soon be high-ranking officials in the kingdom, and I will only be a disappointment to the empire and my family.

''HEYY!!! MARVIS!!'' I looked at them when I heard Gwen shouting at me. They have already finished the subjugation quest. These two are the new prodigy of this kingdom, huh?

They were walking toward me since they had collected enough parts of the ogres as proof of their killing. I smiled at them awkwardly. ''How's the quest?''

''As you can see, we finished it before dawn,'' Gwen replied. ''And how will you finish the quest if you did not even fight?'' She let out a chuckle while looking at me.

'She already knows the reason 'why,' and yet she's still asking.'

Roi suddenly taps Gwen's head. ''Stop teasing him. You already knew that this man is not a capable fighter.'' he sounds slightly sleepy. I guess he was somewhat bored from fighting those 'weak' ogres.

''The subjugation quest was finished. Around 103 invasive ogres were dead, which will act as proof.'' She suddenly showed me a leather bag full of the ogre's bloody ears, noses, and eyes.

''Wow! Congratulations on both of you! Not only will you get rewarded, but with these, your reputation will also go up!'' I happily said to them.

Gwen fixed herself, tying her blue hair and fixing her light-plated armor. While Roi was standing and yawning, he looked at me with severely dead eyes. I swallowed for a moment out of fear that I would get scolded.

''Why did you even come if you're going to stand and watch us.'' He suddenly said. Oh no, the tone of his voice is emotionless. Gwen even looks at me with a question in her eyes.

They already knew the answer. Why are they keep asking the same question?

I'm just a healer class. I'm even useless on the battlefield. I can't even kill a single goblin! I have no reason to say why I'm this weak...

''I-I was going to help both of you by h-healing but---''

''Your healing doesn't matter to us, Marvis.'' Roi suddenly said. ''We do not care about your healing magic Marvis. What we care about is how you will learn how to fight if you keep avoiding it.'' this time, I could not tell if he was mad or disappointed.

As a healer, I do have pride in my healing magic. But hearing that they do not care about my healing capabilities is quite hurtful.

I don't know what to reply to Roi. He suddenly scoffs and starts walking back toward the capital of the kingdom. I looked at Gwen. She was half-smiling at me. ''Don't worry, Marvis.''

''I-I'm sorry...'' I bow my head in front of her. She suddenly lifted my head, and I saw her smile brightly.

''Roi is mad because you didn't try again to fight the monster. He was a little bit worried about your future. You already know that healer class has no future in this kingdom.'' I could tell in her voice that she was worried about my situation.

She was right. Both of them are suitable. I have no future in this place, yet here I am, still staying, just seeing them succeed. This kingdom resents people who use healing magic, calling them weak and useless. I'm pretending to be a 5th-rate mage, and only my family and these two are the only people who know that I'm a healer.

''I'll try my best next time...'' I said to her. She let out a sigh and smiled at me.

''Roi and I need to go back to the capitol to report the situation about the invasive ogres. Take care, Marvis.'' She ran to Roi and waved back at me as a 'goodbye.' Even Roi waved his hand without looking back at me.

I waved back at them and watched them disappear before walking back to the town of swords. My family secretly disowned me when I was five when the kids knew what class they were born in. When my parents learned that my class was healer, they did not think twice about abandoning me. They felt that I was a big mistake in the bloodline of 'Asharion' i was a little bit lucky when my grandparents took me secretly.

Healer class has no future in this kingdom' I keep hearing this word in my head. I would have no idea if I were the problem or the country I was born with. The Kingdom of war Aresian was recognized for its astonishing military prowess even the current King today was classified as one of the most influential people around the continent. My grandfather told me that before the current king, the last king was defeated in a war against the mainland of the Holy land of Apollon. After that war, the hatred and despise of the healer-related class started. I remember my grandpa said that 'the healer class was designated as a traitor in the kingdom.'

The main reason I was disowned is that it might ruin my family's reputation. Being the descendants of the great general and the right hand of the king, my late grandfather, and the current great general is my father, that is enough reason to disown me. My grandparents forbid me from using my real name, so they changed it to 'Marvis Furlock,' a prevalent mage name.

When I entered the town of swords, the city was crowded as always. The village of swords is the kingdom's market capital, which is why hundreds of different vendors are located here.

'It's quite crowded than usual...' I let out a sigh before walking to my house. A lot of vendors start shouting:

''Buy some fresh Cheesecake!''

''New forged item is on sale!''

''Trading house is soon to be open, and please fall in line!!''

''get a useful slave for ten gold only!'

The town was so busy that it stressed me since people kept coming in different directions, and I accidentally collided with them. A large man suddenly appeared out of nowhere. He was a little bit big, and I was worried--

''argh...!'' I fell so hard that my buttocks started to hurt because of that man! The large man looked at me.

''Watch out where you are going! Imbecile!'' he cursed at me. The other people with him laugh at me as they walk away. I just rolled my eye, stood up, and cleaned my robe before walking to the Inn. I looked at the window, which was a bit busy, with many customers today. When I opened the door, I suddenly saw Old Man Yop, the owner of the Inn his wiping the floor with a map.

''Good afternoon, Mister Yop.'' I greeted him.

''Ah-- Marvis, I have an important letter for you.'' Old Man Yop suddenly said to me. He grabbed something in his pocket, and I saw it glow in blue light. Old Man Yop was a former mage in the kingdom, but his dream was to run an Inn which he achieved with the help of my grandparents.

''Your grandma sent this to me, and she told me that give it to you.'' Old man Yop told me as he held my hand as he gave the letter.

I smiled at him ''Thanks, Mister Yop.''

''Such a good boy. Tell me, Marvis, if you want to eat something, I'll let our chef cook some food for you, 'kay?'' his blue eyes look at me with happiness, and I nod in answer to his offer.

I let out a wave before walking up the stairs. When I reached the second floor of the inn, the 'Quarters for Dansel,' I heard a loud moan in the rooms... and it was a lot of moaning...

''I think Ms. Dansel is quite busy today too, huh,'' I muttered.

I walk up to the stairs, where the floor is for the employees only. I walked towards my room and opened the door, and locked it. I suddenly removed the robe that I was wearing. It was a little bit hot, and I sweated for an hour. I wore a leather shirt and sat on the nearest wooden chair.

I let out a big sigh ''Finally home...'' I closed my eyes for a moment. ''Why am I so exhausted? I didn't even help in the fight against those ogres...'' I stood up and grabbed the Scroll of wisdom and a needle. I used my hand to cut from my finger enough to make it bleed and let it drop into the scroll of wisdom.

The scroll glows for a moment, and it stops. Am I ready to see my status? I'm a little bit afraid.

''Here goes nothing...'' I let out a sigh before opening the scroll:

[ Name: Marvis Asharion

Class: Healer (E)

Stats:

Str: 26

Dex: 15

Int: 25

Agi: 19

Skills:

Healing wave

-A healing spell that emits light waves can heal multiple people. It only heals minor bruises and light wounds.

Holy Light

- A spell that can be only cast on one person to heal deeper wounds and remove minor negative buff on the body. It also deals with minor damage on an undead enemy.]

I remember seeing Roi and Gwen's scrolls last year. Roi's strength and skill were 102 and 104. While Gwen's intelligence and Agility were around 100, the rest of their status was 80 and above. Thinking about their situation doesn't help me to feel better. The only thing that increased my status compared to the last time was my intelligence. It was 24 the last I checked my status.

''Maybe I'm the biggest failure in the kingdom...'' I let out a little laugh. I suddenly thought if this is the reason why my family disowned me after seeing this status, it's enough to make your parents cry in disappointment.

I suddenly remembered the letter that my grandma had given to me. I grabbed the letter from the pocket of my robe, which was hanging in the closet. I opened the envelope and saw a tiny white stone when I grabbed the rock. I suddenly realized that this was a necklace...

''A gift from my grandma, huh?'' I smiled. I wore it, and suddenly my body felt good. I guess this is what they called warm love.

Then lastly, I grabbed the letter inside.

I opened the letter, and the first thing I saw was my grandma's cursive writing:

'Marvis,

I am sad to say that your grandfather Arvin passed away last week. I am sorry that you cannot attend the funeral. Your grandfather wanted me to give you the lucky necklace. He said that someday you would become a renowned healer that would cleanse the sins of this land. I also knew that you were a blessing from the family; my and your grandfather knew that. Do not worry, and I will still be helping you and providing for your basic needs. I understand that this will be hard for you but remember, I will still be here, protecting you and praying for your success. Take care, and I will pray to the goddess for your safety.

-Grandma Ellice'

The tears won't stop when I read the part about my grandfather dying. The last time that I saw him was last year before the day of my birthday. I want to go there, but if I do that, all the hardship they did to protect me will be nothing.

''How lucky am I that my grandparents still call me a 'Blessing' ''

I want to be strong.

Strong enough to be respected.

I will prove to my family that I'm not disappointed, but it would be impossible to do that here. The Kingdom is for the people who were born as a warrior.

I'll travel to the continent of the Apollon to become a renowned healer.

And I will show them...

To my family...

To the Kingdom...

That I will come back and rise as a healer.
