Second encounter

Next second a direwolf just like the one that had attacked me jumped out of the bushes. It tried to attack Turek but Cleo blocked him with her spear.

The direwolf jumped back and attacked Cleo this time. Cleo swift buried her spear inside the wolf and as he jumped at her. She then lifted up the wolf using the spear and then slammed him to the ground. The direwolf gave a soft growl and then stopped moving. This fight was much shorter than my previous one thanks to Cleo. In addition, no one was hurt.

Cleo turned around to see if everything was ok with the two of. We assured her that we were fine and she finally relaxed. After making sure that the direwolf was really dead, we resumed our return journey. I was a bit shaken since this was the second direwolf that had attacked me in 3 days. All the pain that I felt in my first encounter came flooding back. Cleo and Turek kept glancing at me with concern and I reassured them that I was fine.

Finally we came out of the forest. We hadn't seen Tina so we could only assume that she had safely left the forest. After a brief stop, we started walking toward the city. It was already evening and we hard the 5 o'clock bell going off when we got closer to the city.

We entered through the southern gate but didn't see the guard we had met in the morning. Just when I was thinking of asking another one of the guards about Leana, I saw a female guard standing close by. When turned to look at us and when she saw us, her eyes widened. She quickly walked over to stand in front of me. I expected her to be taller than me like everyone else in the damned city, but I was quite shocked by what I saw. She was yet another woman that was really tall. She looked like she was around the same height as Tina, since she was taller than Turek. That meant I didn't even reach the level of her shoulders. She was also really beautiful and I could understand what Daren meant where he said that a lot of men had a crush on her. She had a beautiful face with big eyes that would draw you in. She had long dark brown hair that came down behind her shoulders. I couldn't fully tell how her body was since she was wearing armor, but I could tell that she had a large build that was quite curvy. After all, even her armor couldn't hide it fully.

I immediately thought about why a beauty like this would work as guard. I couldn't come up with an answer right away. Then I realized that Leana was asking me something.

"I am sorry, what were you saying?"

Leana gave me an amused look and giggled before saying "I was asking how you are. Are your injuries healed fully?"

"Yeah, I am completely fine now." I replied a bit embarrassed. I had been so mesmerized by her that I didn't hear her at all, just like when I met Kas. Both of them were really beautiful but in very different ways.

"Really? Daren told me that the high priestess herself healed you and that you were completely fine but I didn't believe him. But it looks like he really was telling the truth." she said that while looking at me with disbelief.

Finally, she sighed and continued, "When we found you, you were in such a bad shape. I don't know why anyone would just drop you off near the gate. If I hadn't gone out a bit to investigate the noise, you might have died there."

"You heard a noise?" asked Cleo.

"Yeah, I thought someone was fighting outside and I went to check it out. All I saw was this boy was bleeding out on the street! So I carried him in to see if our medic can do something for him. The medic said that his injury was beyond him. So after talking with Daren, I decided to carry him to the Church Healing Center and hope that they can save him. I was on duty at the time and had to hurry back quickly. So I couldn't find out if he survived. What is your name anyway? I never found that out and Daren didn't know either"
