1 Waking up in another World

'What the hell! Why am I so fucking uncomfortable!?' Adam asked angrily as he woke up on a stone Floor.

But he quickly calmed down and looked around. It was so dark around him, that he would not be able to see anything without the light source outside the "room". He could also hear rushing water from the direction the light came from.

Standing up and trying to gather his thoughts, he looked around and established the very theoretical hypothesis that he was in a cave.

Next, he made his way to the light.

The sound of rushing water became clearer and clearer and as he found his way to the exit of the cave he quickly became blinded by the bright light that streamed in outside from the cave.

After a few moments of adjusting his eyes to the light, he discovered that the cave he was in was located right behind a waterfall.

Adam saw a small path on the left side of the cave exit that went around the waterfall, so he went there and looked outside.

What he saw amazed him, a scenic Waterfall falling into a big pond of clear blue-cyan water with wondrous, horned fishes. The water was flowing into a small and quiet river that made its way through a lush green undisturbed forest and slowly fading into the thicket. As he gazed into the pond, he saw various fishes that looked a little bit like koi fishes. But the thing that attracted his attention was that each fish had a slender horn on his forehead, he was not sure if it was made of bones or flesh but it looked like something skeletal.

'Damn, this is nice!'

While lifting his arm he noticed a green crystal that was embedded in his wrist.

'wait, Wait, WAIT, what is this, why is this thing on my wrist?'

He nervously tried to scratch the crystal out of his wrist but in turn, when he touched it, something appeared in his vision.

[Customization Menu]

It shows an interface with a bunch of Tabs of which, every single one but the Body Customization is grayed out.

Under the Tab, it shows two sections, namely [Model] and [Requirements].

The [Model] sections, shows his naked body as a 3D-model and he appears to be able to control it with his thoughts.

'Hold up, strange world + strange System/Menu, does that mean…?'

Adam abruptly shouted, "I'm in an Isekai setting woohoo, Fuck yeah!"

Full of ecstasy he looked at the [Customization Menu] and imagined things he would modify, and as he suspected, the things he thought of appeared on the 3D-model.

He noticed that somehow he suddenly understood the entirety of his own anatomy, he couldn't grasp or describe it but it was somewhere in his mind like an instinct.

After playing with it for roughly a minute he tried to add tentacles to himself.

As the Tentacles appeared on the screen something showed up in the [Requirements] section:

Looking at his creation with the utmost satisfaction he felt proud.

[Adopt Changes? 'Yes' or 'No']

'As much as I would like to I think I want to keep being human…'

He prepared to choose 'No', but he saw another panel with the heading [Requirements] on the menu stating what is needed to undergo the customization.

[750 Soul Shards]

[5 hours of deep sleep]

[Adopt Changes? 'Yes' or 'No']

'What are Soul Shards and how do I get them?'

'Well, I'm not going to get an answer so I might as well just do something else.'

But Adam quickly realized he had nothing to do, he was in a new world, and he knew nothing about it.

'I have a shelter and a stable water source so what I need to survive right now is food, Luckily there are fishes right in the pond outside, so the real difficulty is how to get them, I'm not dumb so I know that harmless fishes from my old world may not be the standard here, so it's good to be extra careful.'

He does not have a fishing net or fishing rod so he quickly came to an idea: spearfishing, although he knows it won't be easy to actually catch anything with his experience in fishing, he acknowledges eventually he will get something to fill his stomach.

'How do I get a spear in this situation?'

Right then, he remembered that he still had a swiss army knife in his pocket, since that could sharpen a stick into a spear.

But since the larger of the two blades was so dull it could not even cut grass, the only option left was using the smaller blade.

In the search for a good stick, Adam made his way past the waterfall and the pond to the trees of the nearby forest.

Sadly there were no good sticks lying on the ground so he had to break one off a tree.

Because the trees were so full of vitality and resilient, he needed around 2 minutes to break even one stick off. He then proceeded to sharpen it with the small knife, although it took a lot of effort he eventually managed to create a makeshift-spear.

The next thing he would do was pretty obvious: going to the pond and trying to pierce a fish with his previously acquired makeshift-spear.

A lot of time has already passed when he finally got something and by the end of the day, he had a total of 2 fishes. He prepared dry wood and stored some of it in the cave, where it can't get wet in the event of rain.

Starting a fire was the next challenge for him, he knew that through friction heat he could make a flame but he did not know anything else.

Using a stick and a piece of wood he just spun the stick on top of the piece of wood until it emitted smoke. And that's how he made his first fire.

While he ate his roasted fish under the reddish light of the sunset he could not help but remember his old world, his previous friends, family and how he just left them all without being able to thank them or saying goodbye.

As he sat there and gazed into the distance, two lonely streams of tears could not help rolling down his face to his chin and then fall off onto the stone below him.

'But in the end, what are they to me now... yeah, just memories and memories get forgotten, instead of sitting here like a crybaby I should think about my circumstances first. In the end, I will forget them and there's nothing I can do about this.'

Adam was so tired that he even forgot he had no bed; after all, he was suddenly in a new world he knew next to nothing about, so with the embers of the fire diminishing he entered the land of dreams.
