Chapter 1

Thinking about his tough day at school, Zeus Arthur kept asking himself why he was still going to Creed High. Barely seeing the way forward, he felt the urge to drop down and shout away his anger and frustration.

Loosely clutching his backpack, he realized he had gotten to the end of the sidewalk and shivered with dread when he locked eyes with the huge forest before him. Sibnelis den, which was native for darkness' den, was a huge forest that towered above the town of Veluri for centuries. Legends had it that it was twice as large before the war of Korax. Older folks usually warned children to never go there without company.

But that was ridiculous. The only souls he knew were his Aunt Chrysanthenum and his teachers who taught him and others how to let their creatures take charge and how to harness their inner powers in the face of danger.

Creed High, created by The Guardians;the most powerful supernaturals in the whole realm, was meant to train creatures and to be a refuge. There were history lessons and defence classes for everyone, strength and agility classes for werewolves, nutrition and meditation for vampires, spells, potions and transfiguration classes for witches and biology and botany for fairies.

However, Zeus had only history and defence for one reason- he did not have the faintest idea of what he was.

He had gone through half of the school's library in a bid to know his race, but all he had met was a dead end. Most times, he wished he died in the attack that claimed his parents' lives. Somehow, he had survived and then ended up on his aunt's door steps.

The thought of his family only made his state of despair worse than it already was and he felt the harrowing need to drop down and shout away his frustration.

Ruffling his blond hair with his wet hand, he sighed heavily before beginning his journey through the gloomy forest. Keeping a sharp eye out for danger, his mind wandered to the kind of beasts living in the forest that could easily wipe him off the surface of the Earth.

Halfway through, he heard a blood curdling howl. Concluding that his mind had began playing tricks on him, he marched on but stopped when the howl echoed again. Instincts kicking in, he began to race towards the source of the howls. Even though he had never been in a fight, not even a pretend one, he felt like he had the power to help whoever was in need.

After several minutes of leaping over uprooted trees and skidding on mud, he got to a clearing. There, he saw a golden furred werewolf surrounded by Hunters. Hunters were a race of near demonic creatures created by Hades in an attempt to rule the supernaturals but after he was defeated by Zeus, the leader of the gods, they broke free from his control.

Hunters were divided into three. The Elders, who were the strongest had grey eyes, the Trackers had Jade eyes while the Killers had black almost soulless eyes. Unfortunately this werewolf was surrounded by Killers led by an Elder.

Squaring his shoulders so he was taller than usual, a foreign courage engulfed him.

"Step away from the wolf, you demonic fleabags." He ordered.

"Leave before it's too latey and stop playing the hero, boy." The Elder snarled.

Ignoring the obvious threat, Zeus turned to the wolf who had shifted partially into human while keeping an eye on the beasts.

"Are you okay?"

"Yes. I can handle myself" The wolf replied with venom in his voice.

"Hatred isn't going to help" He replied with equal venom. Alpha wolves were known for their pride so Zeus wasn't surprised.

"What are you waiting for? Attack!" The Elder yelled.

In an instant, Zeus was surrounded by eight killers who wanted to rip his head off his body so bad.

Taking on a defensive stance, he breathed a sigh of apprehension. At the advance of one of them, he felt a burning static in his eyes and his pulse began to climb as he felt more powerful than he had ever felt before. Letting that dictate his movement, he landed a rib cracking punch to the nearest beast sending it a very significant mile away. Swinging a roundhouse kick to the solar pexus of another, he knocked it out cold.

Immediately, he felt the flaming aura of his foes as he stood face to face with flaming creatures larger than the average werewolf.

Ducking, he narrowly missed a claw swipe but counter attacked with an upper cut to the mid gut forcing the beast to revert to human form.

Suddenly, howls echoed through the forest as a black furred werewolf emerged from the dense cover of the forest.

"Shit, the pack warriors." Zeus cursed and ran off into the forest while the Elder shifted and bolted off.

Sprinting, he should have been happy that he shifted after fifteen years of trying, he should have been happy that he defeated eight demonic creatures but he wasn't. He wasn't because one had escaped and had seen him clear as day. He wasn't because he was sure that one would come back and haunt his life.
