A Bed Of Roses

“Life they say, is not a bed of roses. But I tell you one secret my eyes got opened to through my journey in life till this stage. Life is actually a bed of roses. Those who said life is not a bed of roses said that with petals in mind. If you must have rose, then you must get ready to face the thorns of rose. Because even that petal you are looking for, you will definitely face the thorns”. Lanre said.

“In other words, life is a bed of roses. And a bed of roses is filled with many thorns. Life is good but many bad days come with it. If you must get the good in life, you must have faced hardship. Everyone can’t face the same hardship just like they cannot experience the same form of good in life. But note this, only those who cannot face the thorns will go not have the roses. And instead of having roses, they start stealing petals. If you must make it in life, you must be hardworking. And whatsoever thing you are going to do in life, do it with all your heart. Find joy in anything you do or else, even the best job will look like the worst job to you”. Lanre said.

Lanre told them that if they have not understood what she just said to them, they should look at their elder siblings and their parents and keep reminding themselves that they can never be poor and wretched.

At this point, Ebitari felt a smile on her face. She once had a friend who acted quite similar to Lanre. Lanre was that type who could use sarcasm to force positive change. She would still go blunt at the end and tell you the truth even though it means hurting you. She started crying again with the smile on her lips. Lanre was actually trying to help her.

Lanre told the parents to stop giving birth. She told them that if they took in again, she would use diabolical means to kill them and the children they already have will suffer.

“I told you I’m Yoruba na, You should have heard about us by now”. Lanre said threatening them. But that was the best she could do. A lot of people get scared when threatened with juju.

She told them she would send them money and that this was the last time they will be getting money from their daughter that year. According to her, she was sending them all the salary she was supposed to pay Ebitari for that year. She told them to make sure Naomi gets registered into a vocational training center while Ayibapreye starts practicing football. And if he is not good at it in the next six month, he should focus on working. So she actually told him to get a work that will be paying him even as he was going for practice.

At the end she told them that if anyone calls Ebitari demanding for anything, she will put that person in juju. And then of Ebitari sends money, she will send her to jail. And after that she ended the call telling them she was expecting just one account detail.
