trip and Horizon

"Cadet Nitche," Admiral Lockhart stood up and got us a glass of water each, "I already received your assignment confirmation to the Horizon, and you will be an Ensign for the first year, after that when you officially graduate you will have an evaluation to see what rank you will be promoted too."

I took a drink of the water as we both sat down and he handed me a datapad with more information on the details of the assignment.

"So, training the Guardian members on physical combat along with the Horizon's security officers, but only focus on hand to hand and inner ship combat?"

That was a bit worrying, this is a one of the flagships and the second biggest one at that, completely setup to reach new parts of space and build space stations to expand the GU fleet's reach, and thanks to that, they come across more hostile races then almost anyone.

"Sir, why so little? I know they are a poor excuse for security and Guardians but can't they handle more than two classes?"

Lockhart flinched and let out breath as he relaxed his shoulders.

"Leon, just go easy on them, you will be the youngest officer in both the Guardian and security department by at least ten years, those guys are already set in their ways, and two classes is already asking for a lot."

This is going to be hard, at least I know the crew already thanks to the information in my head, and some of them are not that far gone where I can't teach them.

"When do I take my post?"

"You have ten days to meet the Horizon in the Callian home world, Callymar. They will arrive there in ten days for a diplomatic mission."

"Nice, I get to keep the Horizon from a major fuck up," I thought to myself.

The Callians are one of the few warrior oriented cultures that the GU has ever came across. They hate weak and submissive people and are also one of the very few cultures that still heavy follows their gods.

Because of the lack of contact with GU, Horizon had no idea and the mission failed before they could get anywhere, even a basic trade deal failed, much less having the Callians take a seat in the Union Senate.

"Then I'll leave as soon as possible."

"Before that, I have something for you," Lockhart walked over to his desk and picked up a small silver box and handed it to me.

I opened it and saw the silver bars for each shoulder, a new star shaped communicator for my chest and a small hexagon medal to be placed under the communicator, all of them silver but the hexagon has a smaller second gold hexagon inside itself.

"The hexagon badge will be the symbol of the Spartans from now on, every graduate will get one, yours is the only one of its kind with both gold and silver, you did after all develop the program and trained the first class of Spartans yourself, so we made it different, it also comes with some perks. As the first Spartan, your security clearance is the same as a captain's, and so are your privileges, now you don't need to worry about your little ship."

I looked at Lockhart with a smile on my face, of course they would find out the second I put a small galaxy class yacht in my name, I'm an officer of Guardian, everything we do is watched.

Unless we want to hide it that is.

Void could have easily done so but then how would I be able to take the ship with me and park it in the Horizon?

"So, there will be no problem if I take my ship?"

"None, but the GU fleet does want to get a discount on your entertainment products, everyone was a bit surprised when they found out that our first Spartan is also Star Spirit, the entertainment giant, but with so many fans, no one said anything bad."

"Alright, I'll set a twenty five percent discount to any member of the GU fleet, including inactive and retired."

"With that I don't think anyone will say a word about you being Star Spirit or your perks."

We talked a bit more about my assignment and orders for the when I'm on Horizon. I would take priority on away missions over other because of my training but they put down as me doing it for experience.

I'm allowed to live in my yacht and use it as I see fit, I also got permits for military grade upgrades for the yacht but of course I would have to pay for them, including the labor.

"So I'll be heading sir."

"Leon, it was a joy having you here, but I won't miss you yelling 'medic' every day," Lockhart smiled and waved me off as I leave his office.

I packed my things and took a hover car to the spaceport and after an hour of paperwork, I finally stood in-front of my own personal ship.

Seventy five feet long and fifty feet wide at the thickest part, it kind resembled a huge 3D kite shaped object with a flat bottom.

The smooth outer surface the flat black color showed no flaws at all, even the window shields blended to perfection, the only thing that stood out is the flat gray colored words on the side of the yacht, Lilith.

The back opened up into a ramp as I walked up to it with my bags, the inside looked dark with black and blood red colors everywhere.

Four regular cabins with one master cabin for me, kitchen slash bar connect to the open center area where couches and tables had been placed, the med-bay and workshop where placed next to each other also directly connected to the center area.

Pass that the cockpit waited. I placed my bags on the couch and head there, the central seat in the cockpit allowed one person to control the whole ship without any problems.

I sat down and placed my hand on the scanner located on the right armrest, red lights eliminated the cabin as the ship came to life.

"Lilith, take us out," I touched the controls putting in the destination, "full speed, I want to get there on time."

Red lines appeared on the outside of the Lilith as it powered up and hovered above the ground and took off.

The feeling of movement could hardly be felt but it was there. I got up as the ship broke away from Earth's gravity and the window shields lowered showing me the stars and for the first time, I felt amazed.

"You know what? Maybe coming to this universe was not a bad idea."

I went to the small cargo bay and spent ten days working on new blasters, ones modeled after old school weapons that everyone can use, hand held blasters, rifles and also a sub-machine gun prototype that has not been made in three hundred years.

On the tenth day I woke up, took a shower and got dressed in my black uniform, placed my bars on my shoulders, my star shaped communicator on my chest along with hexagon badge under it.

My hair in a ponytail I took one last look in the mirror. Five foot eleven inches and I had stopped growing, but its fine.

My muscles looked like they would rip throw my uniform, even I had a hard time telling how old I am, luckily I'll stop ageing at my peak but I don't think I reached it yet.

I walked into the cockpit area just as the Horizon came into view.

It reminded me of the ships I saw in a movie a long time ago, something troopers, except all the edges were rounded and smooth while the armor plating looked fit together perfectly.

"That's bigger then I imagined," the closer I got the bigger it looked, "The data on it really does not do it justice."

The ship can house eight thousand people, has five restaurants, two bars, one night club, one hundred HL cabins short for hard light holographic cabin. A school, a dozen massive cargo bays, one just for personal ships or in my case a yacht. And a hundred other things.

"It really is a mobile city."
