3 Chapter 2

I awoke in a hospital bed. I was startled by the tube in my throat, but decided to press the help button next to my bed. This obviously must have stsrtled the whole hospital, as a herd of medical professionals ran into my room.

"Hello, my name is Dr. Lakkamraju. We are gonna pull this uncomfortable tube out, just remain calm." The doctor spoke calmly. He pulled the tube out, and I moved my sore jaw. "Now, what is your name?"

"Levi Dollon."

"Do you remember how you got here, Levi?"

"No, I remember a bright light, but nothing else."

"Yes, well, you were struck by lightning. The fact you are still alive is a miracle, let alone unscathed. Do you remember what you were doing before that?"

"I was walking home from my school. I was studying, and the storm outside was getting worse."

"Okay, well, it seems your memory is okay. We would like to run some tests on you, just to confirm that everything is okay."

"I would really rather leave, sir. I feel fine, probably from getting more sleep than I have in years."

"You were asleep for a month straight, I think you got more sleep than most people do." Dr. Lakkamraju chuckled. "Unfortunately, we can't let you leave. We have to make sure-"

"No, I would like to leave. You can't keep me against my will, so I am grateful that you are concerned, but I am leaving now." I sat up and began walking over to my stuff that was in a chair. Some doctors tried to stand in my way, but quickly moved out of my way as I was not stopping. As I put my clothes on, I noticed my clothes didn't fit the same. My body was looking a bit more lean than it was before.

"If you are going to leave, atleast let us fill out your discharge paperwork." I nodded in agreement, and took a seat in the chair. As the doctor was leaving, a series of beeps went off from the rest of the doctors, and one by one they took their leave.

I made it out of the hospital, and the tingling under my skin was becoming unbearable. I was looking down, flexing my fingers, and when I looked up, there he was, Xerathe.

"What are you doing?! People will notice you."

"Relax. Only you can see me. Now, that tingling feeling, that's my power coursing through you. You should find somewhere to test it out. I'm sure the power has just been waiting for this." I nodded my head, as I didn't want to look crazy to anyone who may be looking at me. "I can hear your thoughts, so just think what you want to say to not look crazy. I think nodding randomly doesn't appear any better." I gave him an annoyed look.

I took a taxi home. I was renting an apartment not too far from my school. My loans barely covered my living expenses, so my apartment was mostly barren.

"So, how do I use this power?"

"You just have to think of what you want to do. Since you chose this incredibly small box, I'd suggest just imagining a ball in your hand. The first time using it could be dangerous, so I'd suggest going outside, just in case."

"Well, if I go outside, then everyone will see it. I can't go anywhere remote right now, so this will have to do. I can go somewhere else tomorrow." I attempted to summon the ball in my hand, and it was a success, but then the ball kept expanding. Electricity was now shooting out from every outlet in the room, and suddenly, the electricity in the whole building shut off.

"I warned you."

"Yeah, yeah. Now, how do I get rid of this?!"

"Just suck it back in.Maybe try inhaling it, to make the process smoother." I looked at him confusingly, but decided to try it. The electricity was quickly getting sucked in as I inhaled. My body felt really jittery.

"Now, you probably won't to use a conductor of some kind to put in back in the wall." I groaned, and ran into the kitchen and grabbed a fork.

"How do I make it not blow up in my face and kill me?"

"Well, you will be fine, unlike normal humans, but just slowly release it through that metal utensil." I wearily stabbed the fork into an outlet, and slowly released the energy. Blue sparks danced across the fork, and into the outlet. Power slowly came back on throughout the building. I let out a sigh of relief as I pulled the fork out.

"Okay, so what should I do now?"

"Train. Your mind and body will learn at an increased rate now, so I would say learn anything you can right now." I thought for a second, and then I pulled out my phone. I spent the next couple of hours watching videos, Xerathe peering over my shoulder.

"By the way, Xerathe, you don't look that surprised to see my phone. Do you have technology like this on your home world?"

"Yes, in a sense. We didn't use it for entertainment though. I've gathered from your memories the different usage for it, but our world is full of life. When we hung out with friends, we would go on a journey, hunt dangerous beasts, pick fights with neighboring countrymen. We didn't find enjoyment in theater or musicians. We enjoyed a nice song with friends, but that's where music stopped for us."

"But didn't y'all ever want to just sit and relax?"

"Yes, but in our own way. You see, we got stronger everyday. We would spare, hunt, or just train our bodies. The culture was quite a bit different than yours." We continued watching fighting videos and I would practice the movements. It was like my body already knew what I wanted it to do as I practiced Bruce Lee movements, or would watch a Jason Statham fight scene.

"Some of these movements look familiar." Xerathe spoke up. "No doubt that these fighting style originated from my world. They must have trained their offspring overtime."

"Well, no matter the reason, I can learn from it. It is blowing my mind how easily I'm learning this stuff. I am getting hungry, though, so I think now is a good time to take a break and go find some food." I put my shoes on, ans made my way out the door.

As I walked around the market area, I could hear a confrontation taking place near by. I rushed over to see what it was, and a couple of people were being surrounded by about ten men. I walked over, ready to use my new found moves. That's when I noticed, something was off.

'It can't be!' Xerathe said behind me. I turned to look back at him, but it would seem I caught the attention of the group of men. They approached me.

"Hey boss, looks like we got another one. Looks like we hit the jackpot tonight!" One of the men said, and then he raised his hand, and a black orb was hovering in his palm. They each had some form of darkness that either formed around their fist, or into a weapon. I kept calm, although Xerathe didn't seem to want to shut up.

'It can't be!! How did he beat me here? Does that mean the others are here?'

I shut him out, and got ready to fight. As they all pounced on me, the lightning poured through my fingertips, and shot one of the guys in the chest, sending him flying. The men stopped in shock.

"Whoa, he is like us! Why does he have lightning?!" The men were in a bit of a panic, but one of the larger guys stepped forward.

"My God warned me of you. So, you are the lightning bug that needs to be squashed? God will be quite pleased if we kill him. Don't fear boys, he will also reward us with so much power." He grinned and went to punch me in the face, but I maneuvered to do it, and countered with three jabs to his gut. The large man fell to the ground.

"Yeah boys, you just have to kill me. No problem, right?" The men took a step back, then let out a battle cry as they attacked. They were quite a bit weaker than me, as I quickly dodged and beat them each down.

'Kill them.' Xerathe said as they each fell to the ground.

'No way! I can't just go around killing people!' I thought.

'You have to. Your prison systems can't hold them. Soon, as they kill more people, they will be impossible to handle from a human stand point. You have to kill them.' I was flabbergasted, but as I looked at the men on the ground, they were becoming more feral by the minute. 'The God of Darkness obviously gave them a specific order. They will die trying to accomplish it, with or without you wanting to. Kill them!' I took a deep breathe, and then I let out enough electricity to burn the bodies to a crisp. The small group of four people were still cowering in fear from what they saw.

'Great, so how do I handle this?'

'Form a contract. The god of darkness is recruiting people, you must as well.'

'And how the hell do I do that?'

'Place your thumb on the forehead, and say I grant you my power. Super easy.' I groaned and walked over to the group.

"Hi, I know you must be afraid out your wits right now, but I need y'all to keep quiet about this, okay?" The group looked back at me confused.

"What the fuck is going on?!" One girl cried out. "They had this weird dark stuff in their hands, you shot lightning out of your hand. Are you some kind of super hero? Is the world ending?!" Although it was understandable, her panic annoyed me.

'So kill her.'

'No! Stop suggesting that for everything.'

"Look, I can explain this somewhere else, and I can give you this power as well. Does that work for y'all?" They nodded their heads in agreement.
