11 Chapter 11: Jail

As the figure got closer, Michael was able to notice how fast the demon was flying. It looked almost as if a fighter jet had started chasing towards him, and if it weren't for the fact he was in a game, he would believe so.

The closer it got, Michael could also sense its tyrannical aura, feeling almost as if he was being crushed from the pressure alone.

Even the village lord paled in comparison to the newcomer.

Soon after noticing the figure, the demon landed in front of Michael and began to survey the scene before it.

"My name is Runi, Captain of the Royal Guards. How may I address the two in front of me?" He inquired.

"My name is Michael," He introduced. "And the one next to me is Nina."

"So Michael and Nina, is it? And if I may ask, what happened here?"

Michael continued to explain what had happened and Runi nodded his head understandingly.

"That does seem to be a likely story, however, I will still have to take you to the Royal Jail to question you further until the incident is cleared up," Runi explained.

While Michael didn't want to have to go to jail, he wasn't sure if he could take on Runi with his current stats.

"Understood. But how am I supposed to get there if I can't fly?" he asked.

"Naturally, I'll carry you both."

"Seriously?"

"Seriously."

With that being said, Runi grabbed a bundle of rope from around his waist and tied up both Michael and Nina. Once satisfied with the rope, he took off and they left for the jail.

Although flying at almost the speed of sound, Michael didn't notice any wind. In fact, there was less wind now, than when they were on the ground.

"How come we are going so fast, yet there isn't any wind?" He inquired.

"I put a simple spell to block the wind from getting to you. Without it, you'd probably faint," Runi answered.

Seeing how Runi wasn't very talkative, and Nina was somehow asleep despite being help up in the air by ropes traveling at breakneck speeds, he decided to allocate his stat points.

Still wishing to focus on both magic and swordsmanship, the majority of his points went into Strength, Intelligence, Speed, and Dexterity.

Most people at this stage believed a Swordsman only needed Strength and Speed, but in his previous life, eventually, people figured out that Dexterity would allow for flexibility that the user would previously never have.

In the end, his stats ended up looking like such.

[Name: Lucifer

Race: Human

Level: 50

Experience: 0/50

Strength: 140

Defense: 80

Speed: 95

Dexterity: 100

Intelligence: 75

Luck: 1

Available Stat Points: 0]

Michael preferred to have stats ending in 0s or 5s due to it being aesthetically pleasing.

After flying for a while longer, they eventually arrived at a tall tower.

Before landing, Runi allowed Michael and Nina to stand up, as to not slam them into the ground while he landed.

Many people greeted Runi as he walked the duo to their respective holding cells. Due to the difference in gender, Nina and Michael were separated at this point.

Runi guided Michael down the hall, while a different, female guard, guided Nina down a separate corridor.

After arriving at his cell, Runi informed Michael that once they researched the details of the story a bit further, as long as it matches their story, they will be free to go.

After saying this, Runi left. Michael, who was now in the cell with nothing to do, decided to lay down and sleep.

Sometime later, Runi knocked on the cell gate to wake Michael up. He then proceeded to unlock the door, allowing Michael to exit.

"Good news. After researching the village, it seems that the Village Chief was from the Dark Realm and was working as a spy in order to create a portal for them to enter," Runi informed Michael.

"Ahh, great. So does that mean I'm free to go now?"

"It does, but before you go, might I ask. How did you defeat the entire village? Your aura doesn't represent someone of such strength."

"Oh I used this sword," Michael explained, as he pulled out the Sword of Tatraya.

Instantly Runi and the other guards became alert, pointing their blades at him.

"Where did you get this sword?" Runi demanded.

Noticing the situation, Michael relied on the Book of Fools to craft a believable lie.

"I got this sword as a present from my Teacher," He lied.

"Teacher? Is his Majesty still safe?" Runi asked, unsure of whether to believe Michael or not.

"My teacher is doing well. He's currently in the Human World and says that visiting the World of Old will open my mindset and be good training. He says it's where he comes from as well."

"I'm glad to hear that His Majesty is still doing fine. If he wishes for you to stay here, shall I prepare a room for you then?" Runi asked, much friendlier this time.

"That'd be great, and while you're at it, can you prepare a room for Nina too? I went through all the trouble to save her after all."

"Of course," Runi stated. After their short talk, Runi ordered two guards to prepare the rooms for Nina and Michael and had Michael follow him. He got him a new set of clothes since Michael's were bloodied from the previous fight.

After changing, Runi bid Michael farewell, but not before giving him a small orb.

"What's this for?" Michael questioned.

"Using this, you can contact me whenever you need. It works the other way as well, so once your rooms are done, I'll notify you immediately," he explained.

"Got it. That's all."

Runi turned around and walked down the corridor.

As Michael wandered the halls, he realized he didn't know his way around the tower. Luckily for him, however, soon after he realized this his orb had started glowing and Runi notified him of the directions to his room.

After arriving in his room, he finally had an empty area away from prying eyes. He opened up his settings and proceeded to log out.
