9 The Door of Viaje (9)

It took four days to reach the north mountains where there was a said fortune teller, old and wise could help Leena and the group. This fortune teller, very secretive never showed his face and never asked for a names, never gave his name. He always knew why people came and he always knew the answer.

He was infamous throughout the country, there wasn't a person who lived in this land without knowing his existence. Even the humans that lived in the capital acknowledged the fortune teller, many would come to him for guidance in human affairs. The lived normal lives, not as soldiers for the houses but as engineers, doctors, nurses, business owners, etc. Although many magic folk did have privileges it had to have been past down by generation, now every child born with magic was taken to be strong and serve the houses.

"So has Amira told you the truth about your family?" Kreighton was in the front walking side by side with Leena. He was fairly certain that her silence and dark shadows on her face were from reminiscing what was said to her. Izak was close enough to hear their conversation, his discomfort of not being able to pull her to his side was driving him crazy. "It's hard not knowing who you are and what you can do for so long."

Kreighton wasn't too far off, Leena felt betrayed. If Amira would have just been honest with her they could have found a solution on their own, together. Nothing seemed to fit anymore, She realized she was distancing herself from everyone but she couldnt help but want to do things on her own. For years these people following her lied to her and kept secrets from her because they believed they knew what was best for her.

Yes, she was in danger. Yes, she needed to hide maybe run. But all this she could have understood if Amira would have to told her, if someone, anyone would have just said something. Leena couldn't help but feel that maybe Amira had ulterior motives, that's really what scares her the most. Realizing that the person who helped raise you actually doesn't care for you one bit but just needed you to exchange you for a better life. Its hard to know what's really going on in someone's mind but she couldn't trust them, any of them, except Kreighton. "That's a beautiful pendant. Where did you get it?"

Leena reached for the pendant and smiled softly. "It's a proposal gift." Kreighton was shocked.

"At your age? That little boy must have some balls."

Leena couldn't help but laugh. "Actually, it was Izak. He asked me to marry him on my thirteenth birthday." Amira stood still. Izak, he really proposed to her.. Why..? Leena glanced over her shoulders to see Amira's stunned face and kept walking. That's right Amira, that's what betrayal feels like. "I haven't said no or yes but I would like to one day grow up and have the option." She released the pendant smiling even brighter facing ahead.

"We are almost there but we will need to make camp. Its getting late and we still have a few hours of walking to go." Eric was the first to throw his body to the floor, he was accustomed to manual labor but he wasn't ready for such a long journey when he agreed to protect Leena.

Leena attractiveness towards him was fading. She witnessed how he guarded Amira day and night without her giving any words to him. Amira would just stare from Izak to Kreighton hoping they wouldn't exchange words, to Leena, Eric was like a lost puppy unwilling to face reality. The respect she had for him, it was going like a flowing river. She once hoped to be laying with him in a beautiful scenery surrounded by stars and gorgeous trees just like this one. How times have changed, it's hard to believe that he too kept his powers from her, his identity.

Leena sat against a tree at an angle where she felt most comfortable. She closed her eyes and forced herself into the darkness, forced herself into the sleep of a cold dark night.

I sat on the bed watching an unfamiliar face smile and she fixed herself up. It was a presence that made me believe that I knew this woman, and was acquainted with her but I had never seen her before. She was wearing some ripped up jeans that actually framed her figure well a loose blouse that with a simple string clipped on the back, most young humans that traveled late at night wore these types of clothes in the capital and I had seen them drunk around the streets maybe once or twice when I followed Amira on late market shopping sometime but they always seemed weird to me.

"You should wear this." The girl pulled up a red and black laced corset with a slight V where my breast would be along with some black leather pants. "He won't be able to keep his eyes off of you."

"He doesn't even like me. I swear, every time I get near him he runs away." A second voice was presented, was it mine? I looked around to see if there was anyone else in the room but it was just myself and this beautiful woman with hazel eyes, medium wavy blonde hair and a kick ass figure. She laughed and looked at me with pity but she held a joking expression.

"He really likes you. Everyone can see it but you."

"Tiff, that's not true!! Every time I try to talk to him, look at him or even just walk by him he acts like I don't exist." The girl named Tiff laughed louder.

"Sweety that's just a boys way of saying I'm interested but I'm not sure how to be around you."

The scenery change and the sun was no longer out, Tiff and I were in a huge room with strobe lights flickering inside the entire room. I was wearing the clothes she had told me to wear and she was wearing the same outfit she had on before in the previous scence. We were dancing around each other with two boys at our sides and drinks in our hands, laughing and enjoying ourselves. It felt timeless.

Tiff opened her mouth looking at me trying to say something but nothing was heard, the music was too loud. I tried to reply that I couldn't hear but no words could be heard again.

Out of the shadows of the room a man with a white mask covering his eyes appeared behind Tiff. I felt my heart stop, this is him. The man I had been waiting for all night, Wane. He approached me and took my hand into his, gently kissing my hand. I felt that in all the time I had known him, that nothing could replace this moment, the look in his eyes as he told me that he loved me without having to say it. He pressed me onto him and we floated away, dancing in sync. Tiff was smiling at me and pointed two thumbs up.

No time had passed before the strobe lights turned off and the run went completely dark. I yelled for someone, anyone but nothing happened. A single stage light flashed on and my body turned to face it, Tiff was on the floor. Her faint body was pale and the blood oozed out slowly from her mouth and from her stomach, a knife wound? No.. A sword.

I fell to my knees beside her but as much as I yelled and begged for her to wake up, nothing could be heard. Silence was everywhere and this woman before me was dying. Why? Why can no one hear me? Someone.... Please help. I tried to psychologically transmit a mental message but there was nothing. My tears were pouring and her blood became a pond.

All this power and I was still useless. Anger overcame me and at that moment the image showed the person kneeling over Tiff. It isn't me.

"Leena! Leena wake up!!!" Leena's eyes flew open, Izak had a frightened expression as did everyone else. "Are you okay?" Izak reached for her face with a now worried gaze.

"Why is that tree burning?" Her question to her seemed valid but everyone's face was stuck in a very confusing position.

"You fired a fire ball at it while you were sleeping." Izak tried to say as calmly as possible but it still threw Leena off guard. The dream then came to her, it wasn't her so why was she feeling such a strong bond with this person. It was sort of a nightmare at the end, she had never had dreams before so she wasn't aware that they could produce unwanted bursts of power from her.

So she nodded. "Sorry. Didn't know that I could do that." She placed her hand toward the direction of the tree and let the water flow onto it until the fire died down. No one said anything.

Izak wasn't one to say much to begin with so he just pulled a strand on hair behind Leena's left ear, wondering what she could have possibly dreamed of that would upset her so much but he didn't ask. He was just glad that she was okay.

Tim passed and everyone felt too uneasy about what they had happened to sleep anymore. Dawn filled the eastern skies and they decided to pack up their things to continue the journey.

"We should be there by noon." Leena faced Kreighton with determination. "Lead the way."
