18 It is time... (5)

"What do you mean she hasn't returned? I searched the whole market five times and I couldn't find her anywhere, or Cindy." The General was looking over some papers when Clain came storming in impatiently. He wasn't accustomed to Clain acting this irrational but he understood that he was under stress from not knowing where Kavira was so he let his outburst continue.

"She'll be back soon. Try to relax, I informed Cindy to pass by the Fei's house to start Kavira out with some true warrior training, I had a few documents to look over. They must've gone there by the time you reached the market." Clain knew that the General wouldn't have let her out if he couldn't guarantee that she would be okay. He took a moment to breathe, taking a seat on a wooden chair on the opposite side of General Tross' desk.

"How is she?" Clain gained comfort in knowing she was with Cindy but he couldn't help think that he needed to be by her side.

"She's fine physically. Cindy has been helping her produce and control her magical energy as best as she can but like the rest of us, Cindy has never seen powers like these before." The General lifted his head, placing the documents on the desk to continue. "There's also a slight problem. She doesn't have any memories. She doesn't remember saving you, or saving Dark City all those years ago. She didn't remember her name, where she's from or anything whatsoever."

Clain squinted his eyes in confusion. "But how is that possible?"

The General shook his head. "I'm not sure but Cindy says that you may be able to help her regain her memories." Clain nodded. He understood that he needed to put forward everything he could for the sake of the girl that saved his life. It was his turn to help her now.

"We have returned." Cindy sang with a high pitched melody as soon as the front door to the General's house flew open. After the two women walked pasted the foyer and into the living room they discovered a man with sandy brown hair and neatly trimmed beard laying on the couch. Clain had been waiting for what felt like forever and eventually fell asleep unintentionally. The sleep he had been avoiding for the past two days finally caught up to him.

"He was anxiously waiting for you, he must've been really tired." The General appeared from the corridor that led to his office and smiled at the two ladies. "Let him sleep. Ms. Folly has the dinner ready, come."

The two lady's followed the General into the dining room walking past the sleeping Clain. Kavira was pleased to finally see the man whom she'd heard so much about. Earlier at the Fei house she heard Master Fei talk about how glorious he was with a sword and how fierce he attacked in battle. He raved about how even at his peak he would not have the capabilities to fight Clain, he was a true warrior among warriors. He spoke of him as though he were a treasure which gave her even more interest on the sleeping man.

Cindy and the General talked about how the market trip went, the situation with the Fei house training her and her power control. They finished dinner and went onto dessert, a pleasant chocolate pudding was placed in front of the three. "Did you buy anything you liked at the market?"

Kavira didn't say much, she spent most of her time observing others trying to find things or people that could help her with her memory but nothing worked so far. "I bought a dragon staff, it's very beautiful." Cindy pulled out the silver staff from the bag they took to the market and passed it over to Kavira.

The General was a little surprised by this girls choice of beautiful, to his the staff looked old and ordinary. His centaur body felt a tingling sensation as soon as he looked into the jade eyes of the dragon. "What is that?" The General's eyes flew open in fear and stepped away from her, Kavira was confused.

"It is beaming. The aura around it called to me." Kavira tried to explain that she felt power within the staff but The General continued to keep his distance. He moved his gaze to Cindy's face hoping to find some answers as to what he just felt.

Cindy ate another spoon full of pudding before looking up at the General. "It scared me too when I saw it, it definitely is no ordinary staff but someone tried to make it look that way, just like that pendant."
