16 It is time... (3)

Clain hadn't slept a wink since General Tross sent him the news of Kavira's wake. If it would have been for him he would have reached her within a day but his griffin needed to eat and rest. Come to think of it, so did he. They journeyed fast, but not fast enough. He had been waiting for the day that he would once again see the little girls emerald eyes look into his.

He watched as she slept day after day growing up, becoming a woman and not being able to move. Those days were the hardest but he always made sure to be attentive to her during those days and now on one of the most important days, he wasn't by her side. Would she be mad at him?

Hours went by and Clain along with his griffin, Hip, were right outside the city. It was forbidden to ride flyingor grounded animals within the city so Clain took hip to the royal stable where General Tross, Nyla, Linx and the people from Fei house kept their riding animals. "I'll be back to feed you Hip." Clain gave Hip a few gentle pats on the head before he hurried off into Dark City and to the General's house.

Clain first visited Kavira's room but didn't find her, he walked from the kitchen to the small yard out in the back to come up empty handed. He then ran to the General's office to find him seated behind his wooden desk. "Where is she?"

Clain was out of breath but he was beaming with a smile that General Tross had only seen on him a handful of times. The General smirked to himself and informed him that she had gone out to the Stellar Market with Cindy to buy some clothes and sandals.

Clain was known for being a very patient person but his excitement wouldn't let him sit still. He had to see her. Without explaining where he was going the General already knew, he was going to the Stellar Market. He was going to see her.

"This looks beautiful. What do you think Kavira?" Cindy had picked out a purple silk tunic with a golden rope as the belt, it was lovely but Kavira wasn't really interested in purchasing clothes. She only agreed to come here to please Cindy interest who was dying to show Kavira the city, the people and the area.

After Cindy agreed on a price with the merchant she slipped the purple tunic into a bag made of cloth that General Tross handed to them demanding them to fill it up with items they wanted. So far Cindy bought a few tunics and sandals for Kavira, she was teaching her how to spot a deal, how to negotiate and how to count money. They walked away from the stand and Kavira felt her stomach grumble.

"I'm hungry. Do you want to head back Cindy?" Kavira turned to find Cindy had disappeared. She looked around but couldn't see her small green body or shining translucent wings anywhere. Just when she was about to leave the market on her own she spotted a stand where the Gentleman was laying back on a leather chair with a wooden frame, his face covered by a cloth.

After she reached the stand she paid him no mind and saw a staff made of silver with a dragon at one tip, its eyes filled of jade stones. She picked up the staff and turned it a few times before deciding to purchase it. "How much is this sir?" She asked out loud but the man remained still. She called out to him again but there was no response. She reached into the small pouch of money that General Tross gave her and counted the Shells. "I'll give you fifteen shells for the staff."

This girl was negotiator, something like this must cost a fortune, it's emanating with power. "That staff isn't even worth three shells. It's completely useless. Just take it." The man removed the cloth from his head displaying a youthful face with light brown hair. He saw the beautiful young lady narrow her eyes into his.

"I'll pay you three shells then." She placed the three shells on the merchants table, smiled and walked off before he could argue with her about the value of this staff. She was pleased, she finally bought something she felt was worthy. Why would he say it's not worth anything when it's clearly powerful?
