Prologue

I was born of void, of nothing. Yet I have power... I have always questioned whether nothingness can create something, but I guess it is self-evident that it can... When I was born, all I saw was an empty void with distant shining lights.

I ventured for a long time before I finally found a large sphere of rock and liquid, but it harbored nothing. The air was stale with a taste of dust and carbon. The skies were radiating a red light and the star was a dangerous red color. After I had looked at every corner of the sphere which I dubbed Estéril, I decided to move on and look elsewhere for something to entertain me.

It was at that time that I decided to question why I was born and what power I may have to do anything. Of course, I couldn't figure it out... Eventually, after venturing throughout the near-empty void, I reached another large sphere.

Unlike the previous one, this one was green is some places, though it was largely blue. It had great tracts of a yellowish-white material over a large landmass and as I got closer I could see unnatural structures and things that moved of their own volition, similarly to myself.

The air on this planet wasn't stale and was rather fresh, the trace amounts of dust could hardly be detected and the scenery was quite spectacular, vivid colors such as green, red, purple, and blue painted the lush surroundings. This sphere was quite unlike Estéril, and even larger.

I continued looking around and eventually came across a location with many of the unnatural structures and things I dubbed as Grivain. They are small creatures with pale skin and sharp fangs. Their ears are pointed and curved near the top.

As I observed them I realized I could understand what they are saying, so I decided to try and speak with them in their language. "Hello, small creatures!" I said with as much energy as I could muster.

The creatures all began shaking as many of them dropped whatever they were holding, a few even dropped onto their knees. Well, this isn't the reaction I hoped for... "What is wrong tiny ones?" I asked with curiosity permeating my voice.

An older looking Grivain approached the center of their town and looked in my general direction, as if unsure of where I really am. Now that I think of it, do I have a physical form? Well, does it matter?

"Great and mighty one, to what do we owe the pleasure of having a god speak to us?" the elderly Grivain asked with a trembling voice and body. A god? What's that? Is it powerful? For a few moments, I trailed off into thought thinking about what the Grivain said.

"I am in search of meaning and entertainment." I responded mightily to quickly form a facade of sorts.

"If it would please you, mighty one, we will quickly make an altar for you where we shall worship." The elder said, though it almost sounded like pleading.

"No need, I have been plenty entertained with this encounter alone." I said as I left.

"I see..." The elder said with slight disappointment.

This story was inspired by a short story from a social media site, I think it was titled "Arepo's God" it's really good and I decided to make a story that keeps part of that idea! Of course, it's only part of the same idea.
