A Glimpse Of The World

"Sorry again for the misunderstanding and thank you." Asuma gave a respectful nod while facing Rei. The night had passed and now he along with Team 10 and 8 were preparing to leave and report back to Tsunade. "I know I keep asking but are you sure you don't want to reconsider?" Kurenai looked at Rei asking this question again.

And just like the times before Rei shook his head. "Appreciated but I'll be fine as long as you deliver my message to Tsunade." Sighing to herself Kurenai didn't bother pushing it and thanked Rei just like Asuma did. The amount of confidence they had in Rei was small but in the end, it was his decision.

Soon the time to depart came and they all turned around and began to leave. Watching from the gates of the central building Rei narrowed his eyes before turning around and walking away. 'Well, no going back now.' He had plenty of space for residents but now he needed to search for people that were not only strong but trustworthy.

Ryujin Jakka had informed him as a Shinigami that seeking out souls would be like second nature to him even if he had never done it before. The real issue was that depending on who it is people's souls in this world never stick around for too long before disappearing. Logically it would make sense if someone who was stronger had their souls linger longer.

'But how am I going to convince them to join me? It would be best if they were all passive people when they were alive but considering how this world is I doubt it.' Another thing would be the fact he would have to leave Seiki and the others here. He wasn't worried about their safety since they almost fought both Asuma and Kurenai's teams to a draw while trying to capture them.

"Big Brother Rei are they gone already?" Rei heard Seiki's voice as he turned around spotting all three of them coming around the gate's corner. "You three show up after they leave? They were planning on saying goodbye to you three." Joking of course Rei didn't care if they said bye or not and it was actually good that they were here.

"In any case, there is something I need to talk to you three about." The three of them stopped and listened to Rei. He told them about how he would be leaving them here to keep everything in order while he was away. With Rei constantly keeping them updated when it comes to the future they understood how important this was and gave immediate support.

"Don't worry about it! We'll be fine here on our own." Fuyumi who was the most worried of the three last time Rei left was the first one to speak up. "Though is it really safe? I mean what if one of the souls you find betray us for their original nation." Ren brought up this point just because of how patriotic some ninja who died in battle may be.

Hearing his question Rei put one of his hands on his chin and thought for a moment. "Well I do have some ideas but it would be best if you left all that to me. All I need for you guys to do is make sure you're actually ready for this. I have been saying it a lot but once this starts there won't be any breaks."

He knew as soon as Tsunade got his message that two things were going to happen. First news would spread fast no matter what they tried to do and that would bring both interest and trouble. And secondly, once they are truly established as their own country war would be the biggest issue and probability.

None of the great nations were going to fight one another any time soon just because the risk of war was too great. However, if some small nation with a boy as its baking was created that may be more enticing. Of course, the possibility still arises that none of what Rei thought would happen. But in the end, it was best to be prepared.

'If anything were to happen I should probably set up a few countermeasures just in case before I leave tomorrow.' Leaving his thoughts he heard Seiki ask him a question. "I actually do have a question though. How strongly did you end up making those walls if they surround this entire place?"

Hearing the strange question Rei showed a look of confidence as he looked into the distance. "Let's just say you three wouldn't be able to break through them without another two years of training. Along with that since they are made of Reishi and are repairable Chakra will have almost no effect on them." Hearing Rei the three of them looked surprised as they looked towards the barrier's edge in the distance from the gate.

"Well if that's the case then we should have even less reason to worry right?" Ren gave off a sarcastic reply to Rei in which he simply ignored him. "Alright, I have to get to work so I'll be on the top floor till tomorrow morning. Even if you guys don't need to it would be best if you slept it's been a long few days."

The three of them nodded, taking Rei's recommendation to heart before leaving. Rei on the other hand made his way inside and from the main area began to make his way upstairs to the top floor. As he walked he spoke to Ryujin Jakka who was at his side like always. 'So how does this soul feeling work exactly since you said it should be like second nature.'

Answering his question Rei heard a voice in his mind like always. "In combat humans rely on their five senses to stay ahead in battle and so have you to an extent. However, these five senses can only be so sharp and even they are fallible. However, Shinigami possess a sixth sense allowing them to see spiritual beings and souls."

Hearing Ryujin Jakka's brief explanation, Rei was surprised that he was still learning things that Shinigami can do even now. 'The ability to sense souls and spiritual beings… Wait wouldn't that mean I would be able to sense people through objects and illusions? Like some kind of radar or something?'

Rei waited for a response as he reached the top floor and entered the central room from the double doors. "Yes if used properly in battle a Shinigami can see through most deception no matter how things change visually. That kind of focus during battle would normally take a Shinigami years of training but in your case, it should be simple especially considering that training regiment you put yourself through."

Rei's face ticked as he looked down at Ryujin Jakka. 'You mean the regiment you put me through?' Rei could still remember exactly how much Ryujin Jakka pushed him. While it was thanks to it that he could cast Kido ranked up to fifty-five he couldn't say it was pleasant to any degree. 'Especially when it came to Shikai training…'

The thought of it all made him shake slightly. "That type of training was necessary for moments like this. You have already become well adept at using Flash Step and concealing your Reiatsu; this is simply another step." Hearing Ryujin Jakka giving him a horrible pep talk Rei decided to just nod his head as he made his way to the center of the room.

The orb in the center of the room was just as vibrant as ever and it's the reason Rei had actually come up here. If this sensing ability was related to his own focus and what not it should be amplified when he's controlling the different types of energy in the orb. If he really could extend his reach when it came to his sensing ability he should be able to find a powerful soul still lingering somewhere.

"That's the concept anyway though I'm not adept when it comes to this kind of stuff. But it's worth a shot." Placing his hand on the orb's surface Rei narrowed his focus inward trying to draw on the sixth sense Ryujin Jakka mentioned. Narrowing his concentration Rei began to feel a similar sensation to when he was searching for Ryujin Jakka.

Taking a deep breath Rei closed his eyes as the Reishi, Reiryoku, and Reiatsu inside the orb began to condense until finally, something happened. Rei saw a flicker of light despite his eyes being closed and that light continued to flicker until it became a vision. In that very moment, he felt like he could truly see despite it being so brief.

Stretching for hundreds if not thousands of miles he felt as if his sight had extended outside of his body into every direction at once. Having his mind overloaded by images Rei's eyes suddenly jolted open as he pulled his hand away from the orb. It was so fast yet he felt as if he could see so much just from this room alone.

'I could even see Ren, Seiki, and Fuyumi from here…' Looking up at the orb Rei could tell that its power had dropped significantly from that little experiment despite him having built all of it up for the past two years. But all that energy was expended enough to give him enough insight to find what he was looking for.

'Just from that feeling alone, I could detect at least seven different souls still lingering in the world.' However, while Rei was thinking about his own experience he didn't realize that his sudden glimpse into an omnipotent view had startled multiple people. Even Fuyumi, Seiki, and Ren had felt a sudden peering presence staring at them for just a split second.

But even further than that outside of the barrier stretching across the land in every direction one, in particular, was startled by Rei's shifting gaze. 'What is this feeling…' A dark figure dressed in a black cloak covered in red clouds slowly opened their eyes revealing dark purple shaded eyes with multiple rings.

Looking towards the direction this feeling originated from the figure narrowed their eyes. Meanwhile, Rei had finally managed to organize his thoughts after that strange vision trip. He had seen way too much at that same time to the point it felt like his brain was going to overload itself. 'Best I avoid doing that again for this place's sake and my own.'

Wiping a strange amount of sweat from his forehead, Rei brought his attention back to the seven souls he managed to remember before breaking away. Holding up his finger he turned in seven different directions marking them all down in his head. 'One that way and another over there though I don't know how far…'

Thinking to himself for a moment Rei turned southwest and realized something interesting. 'If my memory is right though two of them should be in the exact same direction from here. So I should probably go after them first right?' Sighing he couldn't complain at least he had the directions mapped out though how far he would have to travel was more or less left unknown to him.

"Alright then starting tomorrow that will be my destination."

Imagine someone having the ability to look at the entire world all at once from a single point. Well, that's definitely not Rei right now but you get the idea. Hope you enjoyed the chapters.
