1 Chapter 1: Average Days with new Problems

It was a fairly average day in the Mystic City, everyone going about their business with different types of spirits flying overhead, and kids of different types going into schools. Some looked normal, while others had bodies of pure energy or fused with spirits and specific features like horns, tails, or beastmen like bodies. Suddenly, there was a policeman calling for assistance with a "Rouge Phantom", a spider mixed with a bunny spirit, and it was summoned by a "Rouge Summoner Mage". He asked for someone named Harris Taylor of the Spirit Evocation and Summoners division, and was losing speed with the phantom. He didn't know any strong restriction spells, so he was trying to weaken it with pin-point spells like beams of light from his finger, to no avail.

Suddenly, the phantom was knocked to the ground by a massive fist made of air, and the one who summoned it was a man about 5'9 and had purple hair, green eyes, and blue glasses. His skin was brown like brown sugar, and was wearing a special suit that was just purple jeans with combat boots of the same color, red gloves with metal claws at the end of the finger tips, and a black longcoat with the words "Little Devil" on the back. He smirked, showing his teeth looking like vampire fangs. "My my, aren't we the antsy one. Or is that a bit racist to spirit bugs, can't tell." he said while walking slowly to the phantom. The mage controlling it came out of the mouth of it, clearly upset and ready to brawl him. "You scum! You sorry excuse for a stage magician!! You dare stand up to me? My power is-" he was cut off with a swift punch to the face. His nose started to bleed a little bit, and he was barely able to stay on his feet. The officer caught up to them, amazed at the purple haired man standing in front of the mage. "Y-you're Harris Taylor, and you got here pretty fast too. Nice save, but did you have to aim for his nose?" he asked. Harris just shrugged and used a spirit chains to restrain the mage and unsummoned the mixed spirit he conjured. "Alright, I'll bring him down, you should handle the holes the spider made...good luck, they're starting to crack." he said regretfully as the officer looked in shock and disbelief at the damage. Harris hurried to the police station, which looked pretty small outside, but it was pretty big on the inside. There were about 100 people running around, and many other papers and documents flying around the place, seeming like utter chaos.

Harris brought the magician to a holding cell which looked like a column of energy coming out of a specially made pentagram and it kept prisoners inside and unconscious. As he put the mage in the holding barrier, his friend tried sneaking up on him from behind with a sneak spell, but Harris stopped it with a similar spell. His friend came into the room, holding his axe. His hair was a dirty brown and he was about 5'8, and had a red longcoat and black boots. He also wore black pants and had blue eyes, while also wearing a beanie hat that had some sort of ghost flame on it. "Hey mate, you been busy going out without me haven't you ya jerk. That's just rude. I was all set to join in the fun and you totally hog it!" he yelled out a bit mad about it but it was more comedic. Harris giggled and patted his friend on the shoulder. "Sorry Ben, they specifically asked for me. At least next time we can go together, promise this time." he smiled and had the classic anime-eyes-closed-smile look on his face, but Ben still had the same annoyed look on his face and flicked Harris in the head, sending him flying about five feet. "You had better keep that promise or else I'll knock that smile off your face." he said as he noticed Harris was lying on his back with a bruise on his forehead. Suddenly the boss came in with a woman that looked like a wood nymph. He picked Harris up and threw him towards Ben with incredible force, but Harris used the momentum to cause himself to spin and allow Ben to catch him and rotate along with him and slowly stop. All of that happened in less than about ten seconds at most. The boss looked massive, with muscles that looked hard as steel, long red hair, and looked like an army general. His left eye was completely pitch black with a red pupil that was slit like a cat, and a large black horn on his left side. He looked serious, and had a stack of papers in his hand. "Both of you want to explain why I found these unfinished arrest reports lying on your desks? These were from last month, you better get em done or else you'll have Tartarus to pay dammit!!" his voice boomed throughout the hallway, it made the windows wobble a bit and the building shook. Everyone was frozen in surprise, but Harris looked him dead in the eyes, not backing down at all despite his authority. The boss smiled, then started laughing along with Ben and Harris. The woman shook her head smiling and gestured Ben to her office to tell him something. After about 20 minutes, there was a scream, and Harris ran in to find Ben unconscious on the floor and Tasha laughing a little bit. "Sorry, he freaked when I told him the news that, I'm pregnant!" she said happily. Harris looked in shock at her and realized that he was probably going to have to be there with Ben to keep him from fainting again. "Tasha that's amazing. I'm so happy for you, but you know this means you have to take time off to focus on the baby. I mean sure you and Ben can take turns taking care of the baby, but still." he said a bit concerned, but Tasha didn't seem to care. She just started cycling through baby girl names. Ben had finally got up from the floor, and looked around to see if someone saw him. The only one he saw was his ghost brother Jay, laughing.

As it got late, the four headed off to their homes. Harris lived on his own, while his mother lived with his little brother, big sister, and her children. He preferred to live that way to keep them out of harms way, much to his mother's slight annoyance of his "lone wolf" facade. His room looked like a gothic occultist's dream house, while his room looked vibrantly colorful and full of anime related action figures and plush toys. He had many spiritual books on invocation, evocation, demons, other worlds, and fantasy spellcraft. His friends were coming over tonight for movies and food so he got in the shower, put on some bright blue overalls and got to cooking some fried chicken, onigiri rice balls, vegetable sushi rolls, and for dessert, chocolate chip cookies. The whole thing took about an hour as he got to work cleaning the mess, and his friends came to the door. One of them was named Gabriel, who looked like an angel with Hound of God ears, and had bright red hair, a shirtless vest, and black pants with wings on the shoes. He also sometimes spoke French, which was his first language. His other friend was named Quason, who wore a cap with two blue horns sticking out of it, had long black hair, and wore a furred scarf around his neck. He also had a black longcoat, blue jeans, and orange combat boots. Both of them knew Harris for a long time before the war, and remained friends ever since middle school. They met Ben and Tasha after the war, and immediately liked them both. "Okay, so news. Me and Quason found some hotties last month, and we been going on double dates! My girl is totally hot, and is ironically a succubus. But ya know what, I don't care, she's a wonderful person. And I owe a lot of demons an apology." he said looking a bit guilty. Quason patted his back and snickered a bit. He showed a picture of a beautiful woman in a blood red dress with black roses wrapped around it. Her wings were near her hips, and were pretty long and pitch black. Her horns pointed backwards and were a very dark red, and she had a very seductive look on her face. Everyone was astonished at her, and smirked at Gabriel for hooking up with a woman that thrives on sex to gain energy. "As for me" Quason started to say "I got with a literal star goddess who is unfortunately mute, but she's so cute. I honestly can't help but keep her close, but she insists that she's okay on her own. Which she is, I mean goddamn, she's way stronger than I am, and I'm at least a Titan Level officer. Well...we all are but still, she's a literal goddess. And she likes my memes. And how I dominate in games." he joked around, but everyone knew he was somewhat serious. As they ate, Quason showed a picture of his girlfriend, who was a pink haired woman who wore a battle outfit that looked like a fine made dress like a Valkyrie, and had a lance weapon with a crescent moon blade at the end, she also seemed to be wearing jean shorts and purple heeled shoes. Harris smiled that his friends all had someone special for them, and were having good relationships. However Quason asked him why he hasn't found anyone yet after all the time he's had, but he never gave a straight answer, usually steered away from the question and smiling about it. Gabriel and Quason started to plan something, but also seemed a bit worried about the number of crimes rising in the past few days. They told the others that much at least, and it seemed a bit strange that they talked about the same thing: strange people in black robes with a strange saying something about the coming of a god. However the group new all sorts of gods, from Hindu to Russian. There's no possible way that it was any of the gods they knew. That means that someone was aiming to reach the Apotheosis Resurrection, the process of a mortal becoming a divine being that only another divine being can kill. It almost seemed like a sort of foreboding to something deadly that was lurking beneath the shadows, but worrying about it now wasn't at all healthy, so they decided to cut the night short and head to bed. Harris cleaned up once everyone else had left and looked at his picture of his friends, and noticed that he wasn't looking directly at the camera. His smile slowly turned into a frown as he remembered that he was alone and went to bed sad and wished for a lover that he could be with. His eyes filled with tears as he slowly drifted to sleep.
