Unexpected Attack from Shameless Commoners

Li Bai opened the door and walked out of the room. It was fortunate for him that the doorknob was within his reach, otherwise, his pompous exit would have been a fail.

As soon as Li Bai walked out, a guard that was launched from the main entrance hit the wall right beside Li Bai. This stunned Li Bai. I sure am lucky.

When he glanced at the main door, it was broken and in shards! The cause was a large mob outside the Hou auction house. The guards were hard at work trying not to let them in.

All of the people involved in the mob looked like they had to settle a grudge. They were all ready to kill! The eyes of the participants were all bloodshot red.

Li Bai saw this scene and thought about his past lives. In one of his past lives, his name was Zhang Dong.

Zhang Dong was one of the times that he failed to become an influential person.

When Zhang Dong was just rising, as a mark genius, he got all the attention. It was only natural that his peers would be jealous.

Zhang Dong was part of a top sect called the High Mountain sect, which specialized in bows and other ranged weaponry. The sect gave him much attention.

Zhang Dong looked like he trained every day to stay a part of the sect. Of course, he already knew that he would become a pillar of this sect a few years later, so he trained indolently. Even still, he got spectacular results!

Zhang Dong got his own courtyard at first, which incited some jealousy inside a few of the other sect disciples. The jealousy eventually dissipated when they all thought he deserved it.

Zhang Dong got even lazier and arrogance was appearing within him yet again. In his past lives, when he got strong, his arrogance would go up to extreme levels. This life was no exception.

But still, although Zhang Dong almost didn't train at all, when he did, he would rise up enormous levels. He only trained for a week per month, but he almost surpassed all the elders within the High Mountain sect.

This made the sect pay even more attention to the mark genius. He surpassed their expectations! They then gave Zhang Dong his own mansion. Again, this sparked some jealousy within the sect disciples, but now the number of disciples that felt this was not few, but many.

Still, they forced themselves to think that this was not unfair treatment but rather because it's for the future of the sect. If a mark genius was risen by the sect, their reputation would surely rise.

One day, he went out for a walk in the lower sect disciples' area. They all had furrowed brows when they saw him, but they held their jealousy in. Zhang Dong saw this, and an evil smile appeared on his face.

Zhang Dong was arrogant and lustful, truly an outlier in the lives of this soul. Things have been given to him too easily! He had become spoiled.

Zhang Dong saw a beautiful woman, buying something on the market. He almost drooled at the sight of the gorgeous body and face right in front of him. Of course, he thought that he could do anything within this area because this was the trash disciples' area!

The beautiful woman heard footsteps getting closer and closer towards her. Something then grabbed her hand. She sighed and looked fed up with this. It seems like she was used to this.

The beautiful woman suddenly turned around with her foot out, kicking Zhang Dong in the process! Zhang Dong, however, did not budge. The beautiful woman's eyes instantly shrunk when she saw the man grabbing her - it was the mark genius!

"Hehehe, I want a taste of that fierceness."

The passers-by saw this scene and were frightened. The beautiful woman was the idol of all the lower sect disciples. She, too, was a lower sect disciple but she was stronger than anyone there.

When she was going to get harassed, she would just kick them. Now that someone stronger than herself was the one harassing her, she couldn't do anything.

The spectators also couldn't do anything. By the flick of Zhang Dong's finger, they would all be sent flying not knowing what even happened!

Zhang Dong saw the terrified faces of both the woman and the onlookers. The evil smile on his face grew larger. Yes, this feeling! This feeling of having power!

Zhang Dong pushed the woman down on the ground and tore her clothes off.

.....

The incident had become infamously popular within the sect. This ignited the anger within the hearts of all of the sect disciples, not just the lower sect disciples.

Of course, some of those were just looking for an excuse to lash out at Zhang Dong instead of actually having felt pity for the beautiful woman. If it were them that was in the market that day, they would've done the same thing.

Unfortunately for them, Zhang Dong was now a force not to be reckoned with. His cultivation levels were so high, even higher than the sect head now. They had to think of an underhanded method to take revenge.

A mysterious practitioner gave an offer to trade with the sect disciples a poison that could spark a war. In return, he gets the body of the mark genius. They hastily agreed.

The poison needed some organic material from the target. Seeing as they had no way to get hair from Zhang Dong, they took his dung instead!

When the poison was mixed with the organic material, it turned into a powder that can be spread. The poison made the people that sniffed the powder inexplicably angry towards the target.

The powder was entrusted to a sect disciple who was trusted by the elders. He had to make the elders ingest the powder, so he put them in their tea and served it.

The next day, a riot comprised of elders was in front of Zhang Dong's mansion. He looked out the window, and saw the measly and weak elders destroying his property! They all had bloodshot red eyes.

Zhang Dong underestimated the elders and jumped down directly towards them. Unfortunately for him, the numbers were overwhelming. The mark genius of the High Mountain sect died that day.

Li Bai read from a book that the way the High Mountain sect perished was that the mysterious practitioner that traded them the poison came back the next day to pick up the body, but he saw Zhang Dong's body crucified in the center of the marketplace. He got angry and leveled the place instantly!

He now found the similarities between his situation and Zhang Dong's - the rioters all have bloodshot red eyes!

This made Li Bai think - who did this? In his past life, Zhang Dong's death was just karma. He learned his lesson there.

But now he hasn't even done anything yet, but revenge was right outside the door! What do they need to take revenge for? Do they all have unjustifiable grudges?

Li Bao was also part of the riot, but she was fighting the poison, unlike the commoners who easily gave in. Li Bao just couldn't think of hating her brother - they're family!

Li Bao was struggling, her hands on her head. She was grabbing her head!

"It... hurts!"

Li Bao screamed, but it was flooded by the other noise being emitted by the commoners. The riot was so loud, the Earth was starting to shake!

Li Bai didn't see his sister among the riot, so he felt quite relieved. He didn't notice Li Bao because she was looking down with both her hands covering the entirety of her head.

Li Bai quickly found himself in a dangerous situation. The guards noticed his emergence and were quickly confused. They thought he was being punished, how come he had no scratches or bruises on his body? Rather, he came out perfectly unscathed!

This put off the majority of the guards. They lost concentration on the blocking of the commoners. They weren't focusing on the important matters, they were instead focusing on Li Bai and how he remained unscathed, especially since Hou Ju, the controlling boss, was there!

When they lost focus, the commoners pushed even stronger than before! It seems like their power doubled!

Li Bai was agitated by this situation! Why are the guards concentrating on me? They should concentrate on the matter behind them - the riot!

"Idiots! Block the way!"

Li Bai's verbal assault snapped the guards out and made them return to their duties. They also felt their hatred towards Li Bai rise a bit.

Li Bai quickly ran back into Hou Ju's room and informed her of the situation outside.

"Hou Ju old hag, the commoners are rioting in front of your auction!"

Li Bai told Hou Ju without restraint, but when he saw her, she was sitting on the chair, napping on the table, with her head buried between her two arms.

"Useless hag!"

Li Bai walked towards Hou Ju and readied his hands. He grabbed her shoulders with both hands and shook her violently.

Hou Ju instantly woke up after that. She thought there was an earthquake and instantly went under the round table, holding onto it in the process.

"Earthquake!"

Li Bai was stupefied when he saw this scene. How stupid can one old hag get? Then again, I am older than her. He grabbed Hou Ju's arm and shouted.

"There is no earthquake!"

Just as Li Bai spoke, the room shook, dust falling from the ceiling. Hou Ju grew even more paranoid, that she didn't notice Li Bai at all.

Hou Ju felt something on her arm and quickly swatted it away at full power. Li Bai was flung by this sudden movement, making him collide against the wall.

Li Bai's level was too low! Too low is his level to even handle an attack of this caliber. Hou Ju was a Second Level Mark, a whole level higher than all of the guards and especially Li Bai.

The ground continued to shake. The rioters outside were making progress in infiltrating the Hou auction house. Their objectives were unknown, but their resolve was acknowledged.

The highest of the commoners were only First Level Mark 4-gems while the guards were a whole gem ahead, First Level Mark 5-gems. Their marks just needed to absorb the lit up gems and they would be able to climb onto Second Level Mark 0-gems!

But for some reason, the commoners were overpowering the guards, who were supposedly a gem higher than them. In fact, the raw power of a commoner increased by about two gems!
