Li Fu's Shock

"Oh, Bai er, what did you do today?"

"Oh, father, I already told you, I went to the auction."

"What did you do in the auction? It seems as though they've been looking for you this whole time."

"I sold my pills there. Li Bao jie came with me."

Pills?! Li Fu was shocked. He was wondering what he used the resources for, so he was making pills! But pill making is an extremely hard job, much harder than managing a clan.

"P-pills, huh? So.. how much did you get?"

Li Fu was hiding his shock and trying to change the subject. Pills were extremely hard to make, and expensive, even when you had a suitable soul.

Firstly, a good cauldron was needed. A cauldron was hard enough to find, much less a decent one. Therefore, even when one was a pill maker, they still needed to venture.

Next, a great number of resources was needed. When a pill maker didn't have enough resources, he wouldn't be able to make a decent pill. In fact, a pill maker often fails, so a set of resources just enough for one pill isn't enough to make one.

Lastly, he needed to have great knowledge. The pill recipes were immensely expensive, and even if a pill maker did manage to buy one, he needed to study and practice it for months before he can make even a vomit green pill, a huge waste of resources and time.

Li Bai expected his father to be shocked, so when he did, he smiled confidently. This was well within his expectations, so he just played along with his father.

"I don't know, I got Li Bao jie-jie to get the money for me. Come to think of it, father, have you seen Li Bao jie?"

Li Fu shook his head. He's right, I haven't seen his sister since this morning. Could it be that his sister ran away with Li Bai's pill money?

Suddenly, Li Bao arrived at the door of the clan hall, where Li Bai and Li Fu were talking.

"Li Bai di-di, the auction's looking for you, haven't you heard?"

Li Bao was actually in a rush to get here, as she saw the massive commotion outside the Li clan's territory. She wondered if that had something to do with Li Bai until somebody shouted that the auction was looking for trash and that they were taking out the trash.

Even though Li Bao cared for her brother very much, her mind started to unconsciously attach the label "trash" on her only brother, and so when she heard about trash, she concluded that they were talking about her brother.

"The Hou auction? Why would they..."

Li Bai was perplexed. Why would they look for him? They already agreed that the artifacts he won were to be given to him once all his pills were sold. Little did he know, that only he was thinking that.

Miss Hou thought that this excuse was made up, and Li Bai was just going to make her sister pay for the items that he bought. Still, his sister insisted that she give the money to him instead.

Li Bai suddenly thought of it.

"...Li Bao jie-jie, did you make them give the money to me?"

Li Bao was flustered and almost jumped. Can her brother read minds? Was there such a technique? She dismissed this though, as even if there was a technique to read minds, her brother wouldn't be able to practice it, given that he couldn't train his body, not to mention techniques. She just thought that her brother had good deducing abilities.

Even so, she was still agitated. She should have taken the money! This was what her brother meant by her being his representative. Her brother trusted her, and she broke that trust! All because she was angry that people were looking down on him. She kneeled on the floor and prostrated.

"Sorry, Bai di! Yes, I did."

Li Bai watched this scene and laughed in dismay. His sister was overreacting! This made him embarrassed. To be honest, no one suffered from the decision she made. Rather, her father even benefited! She had given him an excuse to lash out at the elders and suppress them.

"Bao jie-jie, stand up. What are you doing?"

"This is the only thing I can do to compensate."

Li Bao was very serious about this. She always made mistakes because of her airheadedness. But now, she caused a riot to happen in front of the clan!

Li Bai was planning to go there anyway, so he waved his hand, to dismiss this problem.

"No, no. I'm going to go. They're just going to give me money anyway."

Li Fu was expectant. If Li Bai really made pills from those measly resources that he gave him, then his son would be a genius.

However, if Li Bai said that he didn't know how much he earned, then his sister, Li Bao, should.

"My daughter, do you know how much Bai er's pills sold at the auction?"

"They earned about 168 platinum coins."

Their father fainted.

Li Bai exited the room, with Li Bao following behind him. He looked ahead and saw the huge crowd that formed in front of their gate.

The rioters saw the figure that was getting closer. It was Li Bai! They went wild and insisted on coming in. The guards couldn't handle much anymore.

"Calm down!"

Li Bai screamed. He knew that his screaming wouldn't solve anything, so he just went closer.

"I'm going with you."

This statement reached the rioters' ears and calmed them down quite a bit. Even so, they still had angry expressions. One even spoke out.

"Hah? So you finally show yourself, trash!"

When this one man spoke, many others followed. Eventually, the noise returned, with all of them ridiculing and mocking, throwing and hurling insults directed towards Li Bai.

"The trash is a coward!"

"A coward who hides behind his clan!"

"Can't you not do trash things? Trash!"

Li Bai had an indifferent expression on his face. He thought that the Hou auction was going to pay him his money. Why did these people come here with hostile intentions?

Li Bao couldn't take it anymore. She was holding back her irritation towards these people that don't look at the full picture!

"SHUT UP!"

Even if Li Bao was just Third Level Mark, she was still intimidating for the commoners when she got angry. But her getting angry was very rare, so when this happened, everyone got scared.

"Let us pass through."
