4 Pass Examination

The car started driving itself, a high tech modern car.Ruri was at the back of the car, sleeping. Kyousuke was still at the driver's seat wide awake and his thirst for knowledge about the car. 

"Autodrive?" Kyousuke questioned the car and inspected the whole thing, 

"How many things did Kawasu hide from me?" 

Kyousuke questioned himself and finding the reasons for it. Kyousuke was moving here and moving there but the car didn't bother to scold his master, Kyousuke. 

"Hey… um… car?" Kyousuke started talking to his car, 

[ Master, call me Dynasty-9000 ] the car spoke back to Kyousuke.

 "Dynasty-9000 is too much, can I rename you?" Kyousuke asked if it was allowed, 

[ Master, I do not have the authority to refuse ] the car said to Kyousuke loyally. 

"Dina. That's your name" Kyousuke told the new name of the car and smiled happily, 

[ Updating…! Name has been updated to "Dina" ]

Five hours have passed, they left at 9pm so they will arrive at 2:30am. 

Both Kyousuke and Ruri live in Kyoto City and they spent their seventeen years there but came to other cities during field trips. 

They arrived in Tokyo at 3am but mostly all the buildings were still shining. "Dina, park close to a hotel" Kyousuke gave Dina instructions, 

[ Understood ] Dina started to drive more and Kyousuke was waking Ruri up. 

"Ruri, wake up" Kyousuke tapped her face lots of times but didn't, he reinforced his hand with ice, 

"Wake up!" and slapped her. Without a doubt, Ruri woke up. "We are here idiot" Kyousuke told her and Ruri suddenly became active and wide awake.

[ We have arrived, Master ] Dina stopped near a hotel and turned herself off, "Rest, Dina" Kyousuke and Ruri stepped off the car. 

"Dina?" Ruri asked Kyousuke about the name, "It's the name of the car and we'll be sleeping here for a night" Kyousuke and Ruri walked inside. 

"Hello, how may I be of help?" the receptionist saw Kyousuke and Ruri. 

"Can we have two rooms please?" Kyousuke told the receptionist, "It's okay, I'll pay" Ruri generously gave the credit card to Kyousuke. 

"We have two more rooms but, unfortunately, the other room is suspended due to the last customer" the receptionist apologized for the inconvenience. 

"But the other room is capable of two people, will you accept?" she said but Ruri was getting flustered, "S-S-Share a r-r-r-room?" Ruri stuttered with her face red as a tomato and avoiding eye contact. "What choice do we have?" Kyousuke calmed Ruri and accepted her offer. 

They entered the room, it was rather a large room. Kyousuke liedon the other bed while Ruri on the other, Kyousuke took out his cellphone. 

"Goodnight" Ruri said, "Night" Kyousuke replied back. He took out his phone but didn't do anything, Kyousuke is still mourning about Kawasu's death. 

Morning suddenly came and both persons woke up, "I'll shower first" Ruri said and went straight to the toilet. Kyousuke played his favorite game, he logged in and an event was happening.

—[ Kagami, ur back! ] Arthur replied to Kyousuke 

—[ Well, something happened ] He replied back to Arthur and grinded some.

—[ Come back at 15 okay ] Kagami saw Arthurs comment and logged off.

"It's your turn" Ruri said while drying her hair. Kyousuke put something on Ruri's bed, it was her credit card.

"After I take a shower, why don't we have a date?" Kyousuke fooled with Ruri, "W-w-what?!" Ruri freaked out and her ears became red. Kyousuke continued to enter the showers. After Kyousuke finished, he prepared some cash and both left the hotel.

They went everywhere in Tokyo. They ate, they played and watched some movies. 

"That movie was sooo cute!" Ruri said after the movie, "Y-yeah… sure" Kyousuke wasn't satisfied with the movie. They had fun this afternoon and Dina was still resting at the hotel so they walked. They continued to walk but came across an alley, 

"T-the serial kill—!!" the man was cut off by the hand of a man. "Give me all your things" the killer said then the threatened man threw everything on the ground, "Don't report me to anyone or I'll—" but the killer was disturbed by Kyousuke. 

"You'll what?" 

Kyousuke said with his stoic face and threw trash at him. "Or… I'll kill you!" the killer was of course armed while Kyousuke wasn't.

"Young man, please run or you'll die!" the threatened man wanted to shove Kyousuke away. 

"Do you know who I am kid?" the killer taunted Kyousuke but wasn't affected, "Nah, I'm just a tourist" Kyousuke technically didn't lie. 

"I'm Krueger, a serial killer so bug off or you'll be the one dead" Krueger taunted Kyousuke again but didn't work. 

"Ah, Krueger, the famous horror movie character. Listen stop acting like Freddy Krueger, he's way cooler than you and much more worse too" Kyousuke taunted the killer, "This kid— you're dead!!!" and it worked. 

'Krueger' was charging at Kyousuke with a knife in his hand, "You have nowhere to go kid, now die—!" Kyousuke elbowed 'Krueger' to the ground very hard and made him unconscious. 

"Young man, what's your name?!" from the looks of him wearing a brown coat, a notepad on the floor and a camera too, he was a reporter. 

"Kyousuke Kanji" 

Kyousuke said and the reporter suddenly took a picture of Kyousuke and wrote his name. Ruri, waiting at the back of Kyousuke. Kyousuke took 'Krueger' and ran with Ruri following her and brought Krueger to the police. The police thanked Kyousuke for catching a criminal and both Kyousuke and Ruri left.

"Well, that's done," Kyousuke said after leaving the police and sighed.

"That was so cool!" Ruri praised Kyousuke for the good deed he has done. "Just elbowing the killer even if he had a knife; that is so cool and heroic!!"

Ruri praised Kyousuke more and he started to get embarrassed.

"Stop it; I just did the right thing" Kyousuke simply explained and continued to walk. "Did you see that Kawasu? I just saved someone!" Kyousuke happily whispered and felt something like relief.

Kyousuke and Ruri finally arrived at the hotel and saw Dina... still parked. They went in their room and rested for the moment.

"Tomorrow's the day!" Ruri said excitedly like a happy dog. "I'm so excited! But I do hope we pass, haha" Ruri said and became worried about her capability and abilities.

"You'll be fine" Kyousuke wanted to clear Ruri's worries. He thought back to their fight; (even if I missed… How did Ruri predict my moves at that speed?) Kyousuke's worries about Ruri disappeared and thought that she was powerful enough.

"Easy for you to say" Ruri envied Kyousuke for his power. "Goodnight" she said and tucked herself in her blanket.

"Sweet dreams" Kyousuke said and tucked himself too and slept. 

The next day followed very fast. Kyousuke woke up with the alarm clock ringing loudly and Ruri missing. 

"Ruri?!" Kyousuke got worried and panicked. He reached for his cellphone and suddenly heard water from the showers. "Haa— thank goodness" Kyousuke was relieved. Kyousuke turned the clock off and saw the time, (6:35) and Kyousuke thought: (What time do we go there?)

Ruri finished having a shower and saw Kyousuke thinking. "Hey, start showering or we'll be late!" Ruri disturbed Kyousuke and warned Kyousuke.

Kyousukd got shocked by what Ruri said and forgot what he was thinking. Kyousuke followed what she said and took a shower. "I hope to have nice new friends," Kyousuke prayed for what he wanted.

Kyousuke finished showering and dressed up some decent clothes. Kyousuke saw Ruri packed and ready and Kyousuke also packed his things and left.

"Thank you for staying!" The receptionist said and thanked both Kyousuke and Ruri and they left Kyousuke activated Dina and went in.

"Uh… do you know how to go to Mahou University?" Kyousuke asked Dina about the directions to the school.

[ Yes, Would you like to go there? ] Dina was waiting for a confirmation for the destination they wanted to go.

"Great, yes please" Kyousuke confirmed their destination and Dina started to drive. Kyousuke and Ruri saw buildings higher than the hotel they stayed in, people with suits wandering and street performers. They saw a lot of fun things happening in Tokyo and both thought it was a never ending sightseeing.

"So this is where we'll stay if we pass… huh?" Ruri talked while looking at everything they passed. Kyousuke glanced at Ruri and smiled. 

Kyousuke was also looking at everything but also became sad, "i wish you're here— Kawasu" Kyousuke imagined Kawasu beside him and babbling nonsense at everything he would see.

[ Master we have arrived ] Dina stopped and informed Kyousuke. He and Ruri looked outside the window and saw lots of people entering the school and some were looking at Kyousuke's car.

"Look, that car looks cool!" a student said and looked amazed and Kyousuke got embarrassed.

"Dina, park and rest somewhere; we'll be back later" Kyousuke said and he and Ruri stepped out of Dina.

"Kyousuke! We're here!" Ruri, in amazement, was looking at the school. 

The school was very old but also new, the school was similar to a normal one but it was bigger than a normal one. There was a pool, track field, basketball court, tennis court and more! It was bigger than Kyousuke and Ruri's neighborhood, which was a 100 kilometers.

Dina left as Kyousuke and Ruri stepped out— looking for somewhere to park and rest.

Kyousuke and Ruri followed where the most students were gathering but then saw Soichiro.

Soichiro waved at Kyousuke and Ruri and walked closer to them. "Hey, the third year exam is here," Soichiro said to Kyousuke and Ruri, pointing beside where they were going.

"Thank you, see you later" Kyousuke thanked him and continued to walk there.

"Such a cold person, haha" Soichiro laughed at Kyousuke's behaviour and continued to walk too then his suit was pulled by Ruri and said:

"Thank you, mister!" and hurriedly followed Kyousuke. A small laugh escaped from Soichiro's lips and walked. Kyousuke and Ruri were in a large area full of students their age and a person showed up from a balcony of the building.

"Hello students!" the host said loudly, "Welcome to the selection of Mahou University!" everyone roared in excitement except Kyousuke. 

"Now before we start, everyone in here has a high chance in passing and it's possible that everyone here attends this school. But if your skills are lacking, we may not accept you in this school" after the host has said this, everyone fell silent.

"Here, we will test your skills and power! This will be in a 'duel' form in which two people will battle and test each other's strength. We will not decide which opponent you will choose. Now— choose your opponent and start!" Everyone roared in excitement again and the area became noisy.

"Kyousuke, this is it!" Ruri was excited and was waiting for someone to approach her. "I hope that someone will duel with me!" Ruri said out loudly and echoed throughout the whole place.

"Goodluck!" Kyousuke said but a sudden appearance happened behind the host.

"Oh, I forgot. The teachers of the school will observe and will decide which class you will be in!" The host ended his announcement and was discussing something with the other teachers.

"Huh? Soichiro is… a teacher?" Kyousuke was looking at the balcony with the similar looks of Soichiro.

"Hey!" someone approached Kyousuke with an intimidating voice. He was wearing a formal outfit and he looked classy. "Peasant, Duel with me!" he said with an arrogant tone.

"Yeah, sure" Kyousuke accepted his challenge and they walked at the dueling stage. Kyousuke tucked his hands inside his pocket.

"Oh! Looks like we have a duel happening!! What's this? A noble!!?" The host was in shock when he saw the boy who challenged Kyousuke.

"A noble?" Kyousuke said quietly, wondering what is the difference between himself and him.

"Now, announce your names challengers!" the host said and everyone was silent as to know their names.

"I'm Kyousuke Kanji" Kyousuke said formally and normally without hesitation or nervousness.

"Eh??!" The host said and everyone gasped when Kyousuke said his name. Though Ruri was not in shock, Kyousuke was standing at the stage, clueless of what was happening.

"What?" Kyousuke said boldly without hesitation once again. 

"Y-you're the one who caught the serial killer right?" the host said and everyone fell silent.

"You're a famous boy!!" the host said loudly and everyone agreed while Ruri was there, grinning. 

"Single-handedly took care of the Killer without even a weapon nor magic!" the host was cluelessly announcing Kyousuke's feat. Everyone was howling and cheered for Kyousuke.

"Now! Name yourself" The host said, pointing at the yellow haired person, which was Kyousuke's opponent.

"I am Dillon Vermillion!" Dillon said loudly but everyone was silent.

"Let the duel start!" Everyone became active again and became noisy but later became silent.

Kyousuke and Dillon stared at each other, Kyousuke was off guard with his hand still in his pockets while Dillon was preparing himself. Dillon suddenly went offensive and charged at Kyousuke, Kyousuke wasn't moving and with his hands in his pockets... still. Dillon was now approaching Kyousuke and steadily going near. Kyousuke was focused on Dillon and stealtfully spread cold air on the stage.

"..." Dillon was now in front of Kyousuke and tackled him but he fell to the ground. His face hit it hard. Nobody interrupted or announced what was happening. "What the?" Dillon was in shock and wondering what happened then suddenly Kyousuke was at his back. "!!!" Luckily for Dillon, he dodged it.

"Ice bullet!" Dillon yelled out and everyone gasped. He aimed at Kyousuke and launched it, the bullets were coming at Kyousuke, unexpectedly, a large wall made of ice blocked.

"...I resign…" Dillon came to a realization and something came into his head; I can't beat him.

"No way I'm gonna win" Dillon said but surprisingly, he wasn't disappointed but rather in excitement. Dillon raised both his arms and resigned then walked closely to Kyousuke and said: 

"Next time, be serious" Dillon said with disappointment and walked and added "See you next time!" Dillon respected and disfavor Kyousuke at the same time.

After the match, everyone fell silent after witnessing Kyousuke's strength; no one wanted to challenge him after what happened. It got livelier again after the second match and everything continued, Ruri was challenged a few times and won all of them.

"Another win!" Ruri said with a confident tobe and she smiled brightly. Kyousuke smiled at her proudly and happily. "But man— you scared all the people in here!" Ruri said and Kyousuke wasn't sure if it was a compliment or an insult.

"Okay! We hereby end the examination!" the host said after discussing some things with the teachers. "After some discussion with the teachers here, we will now announce in which class you'll be attending!" 

The schools' class system was divided into 5 levels in which it determines the overall strength of the class. Each class level will also determine the strength of each student in the class. The class levels are:

Flow level: the lowest class level of the five and also the weakest out of all. The students in this class may be the weakest out of all the five but it is stronger than an average human. The teachers who teach this class aim to nurture and give strength to them.

Arbe level: this class has more strength than the previous class and has a much more potential than the previous level. This is the second lowest class at the previous five. The same as the previous class, teachers who teach this class aim to nurture and give strength to them.

Gartey level: the neutral class level of the five in which the students aren't strong or weak. They have the powers of an average person with magic or affinity. The teachers of this class do not aim and give strength to the students but to nurture and improve the students themselves.

Gundra level: this class is above the three class level. Not like three classes, the students of this class have the potential of being placed to the next class level and so the teachers give them more advanced knowledge. The students in the class have the skills of growing stronger on their own.

Maki level: the highest and strongest class level out of the five. This students in this class level has the strength to overpower all the students and teachers of the school combined! But, due to the conditions of acquiring this level and title, it is a rarely used class level which only comes in a billion chances. If this level is acquired by someone, the teachers of him/her/them must give the most advanced knowledge the school possesses or know. Him/her/them have acquired the highest level of power they could get in their current situation.

The host was announcing each person by alphabetical order and some people were sad and some were happy.

"I hope that we are in the same class!" Ruri said optimistically but also a feint of sadness, also thinking of not being in the same class.

The host took a long time to announce every person's name and class level. Then the host suddenly stopped and breathed some air.

"MVP'S OF THE EXAMINATION! RURI GAROU AND KYOUSUKE KANJI, GUNDRA CLASS LEVEL!" The host said loudly and everyone cheered them on.

"Ruri Garou: a total of 25 duel matches with continued winning and also the most duel matches!" The host said and everybody clapped, including the teacher from above.

"And Kyousuke Kanji! Only won a single dual match BUT— by making the opponent surrender and by scaring all the other competitors!" Everyone was roaring and cheering and clapped, and thus the examination ended.

"This is great Kyousuke!!" Ruri said loudly and happily and she nearly cried. "We're classmates again!" she was excited, excited to be with Kyousuke and school.

"Yeah" Kyousuke said in a cool image. He was also happy to be with his only friend.

"Con~gra~tul~ation!" Soichiro's voice and words came from behind Ruri and Kyousuke.

Kyousuke and Ruri looked behind and saw Soichiro. Soichiro was in his formal suit and he was holding something.

"What's that?" Kyousuke asked Soichiro what he was holding. "Yeah… I'm curious too…" Ruri said out of curiosity.

"Oh this?" Soichiro let out a chuckle and continued, "This is from Kawasu" Soichiro just said the impossible.

"Wh-what do you m-mean!?" Kyousuke was already enraged, "H-how did you get it!?" Kyousuke asked Soichiro again but the topic was different.

"He said that I can't tell," Soichiro answered Kyousuke and gave the thing. "It's a fingerless glove to cover your mark, see you" Souchiro left without saying a thing.

"H-hey wait!!!" Kyousuke got angry for not telling him how he got the gloves and tried to follow Souchiro. "K-Kyousuke stop!!" Ruri held Kyousuke with force and Kyousuke slowly calmed down.

"Thanks. I lost myself a bit there" Kyousuke thanked Ruri and gave her a fake smile. "...." Ruri got speechless.

"And see you for tomorrow's class!" Soichiro added one last thing and completely disappeared.
