The only world

Luke left, but he told me to meet him out in town. There we would discuss a plan to get "you know who" out too.

Not going to brag, I came up with this plan last night: With both of our intelligence combined, we had the potential for greatness. First step: he would distract the head of the orphanage, so I could pull the fire alarm and make a run for it, so she would have to take care of the false alarm. When she's dealing with all of the mass chaos, we would meet up at the orphanage cafeteria, and then run outside.

Until the plans put into action, I have to get an excuse to go out. What if I say I'm applying for a job in town, or doctors appointment? "Ugh! How am I going to meet him." I sigh frustrated and tired. Now the only thing left to do is go find one of the Sisters to get permission.

Nervous looking, I walk over to the giant- darkoak- wooden door. Turning the knob my heart could beat out of my chest at any moment. I'm scared... I don't really go out of the church, but I have to go.

Creaking behind me, the door closes. Scurrying down the halls at lighting speed to get socializing out of the way. Quiet, and stealthy are the rules I go by (in and out, no distractions or detours).

Walking the corner; The hallway flood of doors with signs on them. Tilting my head to read them, I spy a door with the sign "Councelor's room 602". With no hesitation I open the rounder door and slip in.

Inside a sit in an aqua colored sofa, with feather like metal patterns. The whole office looks full of life, unlike the rest of the orphanage. Colors flood my eyes as I wait for the counselor to pop in.

In daze I hear "Good morning, what can I do for you?" In a warm tone. "Um... I was wondering if I can get permission to go out into the town today?" I reply. Her hazel eyes stare at me like warm embers, she smiles and says "Ok. Where are you going?", "I'm going to go to a cafè on the other side of town." I reply nervously. "If you want to go out, don't be nervous to ask me. Instead I encourage you to get out and introduce what you can do for the world." She smiles and fixes her red curly hair.

"Oh I'm sorry I forgot, you're going to need bus money! Here take $30, and if you're hungry hears a 20 dollar bill." Her eyes sparkle and the freckles around her face (similar to my own) dance around her face as she smiles. "Thank you, this is so kind of you" I reply. The last thing in the whole world I would've expected just happened. Wow I'm lucky... for once.

"I'm your new counselor, Sister Abigail. If you have any questions you can talk to me." Her voice was soft, and she moved to her desk and pulled out a sticky-note and wrote me a validation note to go out side.

I say my goodbyes, stand up off of one of the comfortablest seats I've ever sat on, and walk out the door. All I have to do is walk down the hall to the entrance, then get out.

Quietly down the hall waving to the other kids I encounter. I reach the exit and slip out of the door unnoticed, and head down the lush green path to town.

After all that walking I come across

the side of the rugged street. Pearing on the rightside I see something in the cracks. It kind of looks like a green piece of paper. What could that be? Fear shone over me, as I check my pockets. That's the ten dollars from my pocket, I scurry to pick it up.

Walking farther down the dusty-gray sidewalk, there's more green paper in the cracks.

Oh my gosh! What on Earth is it, could it be a bus pass or something? Not even better, but it could be useful! It was money! Oh how I hoped it was just enough for 2 bus tickets. Suddenly I felt the urge to reach in for it, but this feeling didn't feel like before kind of felt like destiny, you know fate. Reaching into the wet rainy cracks, pulling out a wet slimy paper. I use my hands to straighten it out, and only to find $10 on the side of the road, wow I'm sure are lucky. Now Luke and I could take a bus to the tower of Skyold, there we would explore the world around us. I've never really been outdoors because of that "dumb rule", but since I'm 15 now(I was born on, 10-11-year I wont say) I'm allowed to leave the orphanage almost as I please with out someone accompanying me.

Feeling a tap on my shoulders, I quickly turn behind me. Noone's there... could it have been nothing? There it is again! What's with the tapping on the back? No hesitation, I reach my hand backwards to grab the hand that's messing with me. I'm going to teach that person a thing or two about respect!

Suddenly I spin into a direction opposite of mine. Adjusting my eyes a blurry image appears in front of me. Lowering my head down to soften the dizzy blow, my eyes clear up. With fear I glance up and see his wicked cheeky devil smirk, with freckles covering his face like a mask around his eyes. Staring into his eyes I already know it's Luke. "Yo! Haylee, how are you?" He says in a teasing tone. "Literally thought I would've been murdered in a few minutes!" I glare back annoyed.

Chuckling we head over to the bus station to get tickets. A wooden shack like building, with little scrapes and shakeyness. An old man sits in the booth... staring at us and asks "how many tickets?", "Ah... oh right! sorry two tickets please." I reply nervously. The man gives a smirk at Luke, "Young man come closer!". With no hesitation he squirms over. He looks into the man's emerald eyes and  gives a puzzled expression.

Moving his hand the old man whispers "Treat her right,  got that! She's a kind young lady.", "I will" Luke smiles and puts his arm around me. Turning away the old man calls out to us "Have fun on your date! Aww... young love." Appearing on both our faces are blush of embarrassment. "We'll do!" Luke calls back chuckling.  Sitting there to confused to even say anything we walked over to the bus station.

When we reach the station bench, I see a shadow, the same creepy one that's constantly watching me is there too, looking as creepy as ever. I would describe my feeling, this gut-wrenching feeling as follows, I'm so light-headed that I might pass out. At this point chills were the last thing I needed to deal with… If I concentrate on it really hard It looks like it's getting closer. Right now, all I feel like doing is getting away from that thing, the thing that won't get away from me. As soon as the thought disappeared Luke suddenly whispers " Hey come with me, you don't have to go back to that wretched place, you can stay with me, please stay." A sudden of melloncollaeny  came across me as I started to speak. " I want to, I really do, but I can't. Not until I get him with me."

Lets just say, I left something, or rather, better yet someone back at the orphanage. My twin brother, I didn't mention him before, but only because every time I think about him, I cry. He didn't die or anything, it is just he has this rare disability where he isn't growing as fast as he should. You should know he has an even harder life than I do, and I've been through alot in my day. Being an orphan is hard enough as it is, but being a disabled orphan is a lot to deal with. It's just, it kind of makes me sad thinking that I had to go through being given up, when he doesn't even understand that we had parents. Now, here's the thing, I'm not saying he's lucky, but it might be nice to not have any memory of that horrible feeling. "Anyway, I'm sorry Luke, I need to go back and get my  brother.",  "I can't just leave him at the orphanage!'' I thought in my mind for a while... He let out a shout of hope " Then bring him with us, we all can get a ticket and get out of this horrible place, what do you say?" "That was just what I was thinking, but I'm not so sure how we will pay for the tickets, or how we will even get on since we're only children." as soon as we finished our little talk, we decided to meet up at the Tower of Skyold again.

Whenever I help my brother escape. It's going to be simple for him to escape. I could tell the head of the orphanage that I was simply taking him out for Dippin' Dots. Sometimes he gets cravings for ice cream. Then hopefully, we would never return back. There's one problem. Well actually there is more than 1. Since we're not old enough to have credit cards, and we don't have any money, how will we survive in the country of Zimaoct? Or better yet, leave it?

We started walking down the gray, rainy sidewalk where green plants tend to be around the corner, as we walk around the corner we see a small little shop with a bright silver, door with a pink trim and to the sides of the door are two clear glass pains with window displays. I looked over at Luke as he started opening the door with his hands that looked freezing. Stepping in last holding the door for me. I tell myself this is my que , so I take a step into the shop with pink and white floor tiling. "I don't think my brother would want to go here, but it does seem like a good place to discuss the plan, with him." I said eyeing the teal , soft looking beanbags in the corner with two black bookshelves behind them. We started walking toward the tables with white quilted tablecloth (with pattern designs on them, kind of like little diamonds). As soon as we reached the table a girl with golden blonde hair walked over in a black long apron with a small red rose in the corner of it, lets out a yelp "Oh no! Not again please dont tell her, please dont tell my boss. Oh no! Oh no! This was my last chance, my last chance I don't have any other way to earn money. Please it won't happen again." I eye Luke and whisper "Do you think you know whats wrong.", "What's the fuss." Suddenly I look across the room at a back table and see one messily flower pot with a gray, brown wilting flower in the pot that kind of resembles a rose smashed across the floor. I  look directly at Luke and nodge him and point at the flower vase. Luke lets out a small calming tone " It's going to be ok. We won't tell. Here there is a flower shop next door, they're definitely going to have roses." The mysterious blonde starts to whisper " Thanks, but can you do a favour for me? I know I don't know you, and it might seem strange for me to ask. But can you watch the shop for two minutes, until I get back. Please." I start to sigh in a hopeless tone " Yes… yes I will help you, but I don't know how to wait tables and take orders.". She lets out a desperate answer as she leads me behind the white marbled counter with bake treats like cake, scones, and all the muffins you can think of " Don't worry, just write down what they said and hand it to the chef, by the way my name is Lyra Bassin." Lyra started heading out the door nervously. "Hey are you going take my order or what?, or do you just want to stand there." I started to turn around to the ordering side of the counter to comment on that remark, but that wasn't a customer it was the thing, the shadow… you know the one that is always follows me. At that moment I couldn't move I just stood there frozen, frozen like ice. "Ah!'" I panicked as I felt a tap on my shoulder, but when I turned around no one was there, it was me only me. Is my mind playing tricks on me or is it the thing or even worse the things. Just at that moment I saw Lyra walk through the pink door that jingles like a bell from Santa Claus himself. " Thanks for helping me, I didn't quite get your names." Lyra whispers. "My name is Haylee, and his name is Luke.", "Well Luke did you know that your name is ranked 21st in the most popular names in Zima?" Lyra replies in a strange flirtatious tone, but I don't know why it bothered me so much. Luke devoulges "Wow! Your very interesting, do you want to grab coffee sometime, and a movie." Lyra smiles and nods " Ya sure 6 o'clock tomorrow, let's meet up here., or at the purresta coffee shop with all the cats. Do you know that place.", Luke replies with a blush " Ok, it's a date.". Suddenly my mouth emerges to the point where I can't even control it "We should get going." I grabbed Luke's arm to lead him out of the shop then I whisper " Hey! You're not going on that date! what about the plan, aren't we still doing the plan. You promised we swore on it.". Luke pulls me aside and says " We are doing the plan but today I'm thinking about working, so we can get enough money for three tickets, you, the Twins  are going to try to get jobs around here. Then tomorrow we are going to discuss the plan with your bro. I'm only going on this trip to try to score points to get hired.", I  let out a sigh " Ya, sure, but what time is it I have a curfew of 9:00." Luke looks down at his leather strapped, golden plated watch. He replied " it is 8:50, so we have ten minutes to get to The Marioldia Orphanage." Then Luke gives me a serious look and whispers in my ear " If we hurry you might have time to do your homework."  An absurd giggle let out of Luke as I caved in a soft chuckle. "Don't worry that date won't have any feelings. I know you're jealous, you fell for Luke Conner. Am I right?" He says close to my ears. Jamming my arm into his gut again he let's out grunt in pain. "You wish!" I smirk.

Heading over towards the crumbled aluminum bus station filled with adults, Luke puts his arm around me.

"Your boss passes?" A cranky driver interrogated. Luckily Luke and I bought a roundpass, so all we had to do was walk through the silver door with blue plastic on the side of the walls, and a top layer on the bus with blue stairs that was blocked of from a chain. I was expecting the bus to be empty at this hour, but it wasn't so I walked down the thin isle to the gray-cold seat. There are two seats that were next to each other, so Luke and I sat in them. At each stop I felt 'pause and heard that weird bus sound, as I slowly drifted of in to my thoughts. "Hailey! Wake up, it's our stop.
