Her Life

It was an ordinary day, another day like yesterday.

Sitting on the edge of the cliff, a girl, with black lengthy hair and green dark eyes, stares out into the never ending sea.

Her hair dangles against the wind's currents as she covers her eyes from the incoming rays of the sun.

Temi, a 16 year old girl who was pulled away from the city, now lives in her grandparents house in the middle of nowhere, they had long passed away before she was born.

The parents of Temi thought this would be a good chance for her to change while she lived through the long days of summer. She was always the one who got into a lot of trouble back at school, even though it was her friends that did most of the trouble making.

Accusations would always blame her and eventually every little Intel that spelled trouble was pointed towards her.

That's how she ended up in the countryside, along with a couple of dollars.

The only nearest village was a mile away, her grandfather had gone there often to sell fish and buy random junk that now remains in the attic.

As she yawned, a blade of grass flew into her mouth, she spat multiple times to get it out.

Since there's no gas stations out there she has to limit the use of her grandfather's old truck that was painted in blue, she wonders if it still runs.

Temi sighed dramatically,

"When will this summer ever end?"

She throws her head back and looks up into the sky.

Clouds passed by slowly, one cloud to which Temi thought resembled a face she recognized back at home.

"Michael…I wonder what you're doing now.."

Time wears on.

Temi, who was seated on the side of the escarpment, slapped her cheeks hard.

They turned rose like, two hand marks were printed on each side.

She says to herself.

"No time to be daydreaming, I need to get tonight's food."

Even though she was given a couple of dollars they were practically useless if you can't use them, in the middle of nowhere.

So Temi resorted to her grandfather's technique, fishing for food.

Next to the cliff was a dirt path which if you follow down you would find a small beach, there was always a shady part to the left that the cliff above had created.

Her father always called this shore Vaarallinen Ranta.

It translated to Dangerous Beach.

Temi hadn't gotten the full memo to which part of the beach was dangerous even after spending a couple days fishing here.

The marble rocks on the beach did seem like you could cut yourself but it was nothing Temi couldn't avoid with careful steps.

Temi looked around for her fishing rod and found it leaning against the large silver boulder where she would always fish on top.

Waves were hurled towards the boulder but dealt no significant damage.

She climbed to the top of the grey boulderstone and tossed the string from her fishing rod out into the ocean.

The red ball on the rod tip swayed in contrast to the waves.

She waited, waited, waited and eventually the ball suddenly dipped under the water.

Temi reeled in the cast, the fish resisted. "Come..to…me!" She cried out. Then the animal surfaced.

It was a mackerel tuna, one metre long, fifty centimetres wide.

Temi beamed a grinning face as the fish bobbed its body.

The tuna sweated nervously.

A moment later Temi was cooking the mackerel over a campfire.

Its sweet aroma filled her nose and drool started to fall from her mouth.

She grabbed the end of the stick, took a bite in the middle and all the flavours bounced, her taste buds tingling in sensation.

"Delicious! More please!" Temi said.

To her realisation no one was there to hear her.
