28 First Victory

Looking at the huge terrifying demon many lost their will to fight, even Bolgan was shaking. He is only a Gate guard commander and if ranked in Mercenary term then he is only at most B rank, but the demon standing in front of them is clearly an A rank.

Herjar was in a pit situation. He has more than enough battle experience than anyone here and he knows that fighting this thing is utterly useless. When there is a fight you can't win, you don't fight.

Saito let out a *sigh* as he said, "Give me a break already!". Everyone looked at him, he wasn't affected by the might of the demon. The Mercenaries, the Guards, Bolgan and even his pals were surprised. How is he not affected by the demon might when the rest of them was affected?

The demon just stood there with it's army and looked at them with amusement. Saito turned towards Bolgan and asked, "Bolgan, how is situation inside the city?".

Bolgan recovered and said, "Well since the Flaming Rose Mercenary group and DareDevils Mercenary group and Golden Shield Mercenary groups are fighting inside the city with their leaders plus the city guards are also there,so it should be not bad compared to ours".

Saito nodded his head and looked at everyone, "Roughly, how many men do we have?" he asked. A Mercenary came forward and said, "Couped with the Gate guards, we have around 600 to 700 men". "There's also women here you know" a female mage came forward and said.

Saito nodded and looked at the demon. Its height and that sword is a problem, if he can keep him busy while the rest clean off the remaining demons, there is a chance of winning.

Saito then said, "OK I got a plan!" everyone was amused once again when they heard him. They were amused that he can still keep his head leveled in a situation like this.

He looked at Herjar and said, "Herjar, take every rogues here and kill the strong ones! If its rouges, I believe you guys can do it!". Herjar nodded his head and went to gather all the rogues he can.

Saito then looked at Bolgan and said, "Leave the rogues to Herjar and lead the rest and take out the small fries! Remember to tell the mages to be in the rear guard and assist you instead of charging ahead". Bolgan nodded and started to gather his force.

Saito then looked at Vik, "Vik, can you fight that thing?" he asked. Vik looked at the demon and thought for a bit and said, "Should be possible, but I have no confidence in defeating it" he shook his head. Saito then said, "Then what about with my help?". Vik immediately said, "Might be hard but should be possible".

Saito nodded and looked at Minos, "Can you cover us from the back?". Minos nodded.

Saito then faced the demons and shouted, "ALRIGHT YOU BIG PILE OF SH#T MEAT! COME AT ME!" everyone was stunned. Then an earth shattering roar came from the demon, "ROOOOAAAARRRR!".

The demon then raised its sword up high and its followers jumped in excitement. The giant demon charged at them with earth shaking and its underlings followed it.

Saito also raised its blade and Shouted, "CHARGE!!!!!!!!!!". The Mercenaries and guards started to run towards the demons while shouted and cursing.

Saito and Vik was running at front. Herjar lead to the side while Bolgan charged head straight behind Saito and Vik.

The demon slashed its huge sword at Saito, but Vik came before him and parried it with his. *BOOM*. Ground under Vik's feet cracked. Vik gashed his teeth and didn't let go of his sword.

Saito passed him and went for the leg as usual. The demon noticed him and stomped its right foot. Too bad for it, Saito went for its left and slashed with his blade. The slash only gave it a flesh wound and didn't do much damage.

The demon then stomped with its left foot but Saito dodged it at a nick of the time. Saito then shouted, "VIK! FALLBACK!". Vik nodded his head and escaped from the sword gasp of the demon. The demon smirked when it looked at them.

"Give me something good" Vik said. Saito shook his head, "That guy has a tough skin, it would be hard to cut him down to the size".

*BOOM*

The demon slashed it's sword at them but they managed to dodge it at the last second. Saito then had a spark and he said, "Manage to get me ten second! We can beat this guy black and blue!".

"Easy to say!" Vik said as he dodged another strike. The demon's eyes then fixed on Saito. Vik hurriedly shouted, "HEY YOU BIG UGLY PIECE OF SH#T! LOOK HERE!". The demon stopped and slowly turned towards him.

"Now I did it" Vik said while smirking. "ARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!" the demon ran towards him with full speed. "Oh f*ck!" he cursed.

He turned and prayed, "O Great God of Wind that flow around the world and look after life please grant me your blessing and let the wind carry me! SPEED OF THE WIND!" turns out its a chant. The wind gathered around him and he ran at an explosive speed and escaped his death by the length of a hair.

He stopped ten meters away from the demon. The demon looked at him and once again run towards him. Vik smiled and escaped from all of it's strike with a hairs length, it was like he's playing with it.

Minos waited for the right time to attack. The demon slashed it's sword once again and just as Vik was about to dodge it, the strike was blocked. Vik closed his eyes due to the impact sending dusts and when he opened them, he saw a pink flower like shield blocking the demon's sword.

"Petal Dance of Sakura!"

Vik, Minos and even the demon was baffled by it. It took the demon's heavy attack and was still fine, even the ground broke.

The demon was enraged that it's strike was blocked by some dumb flower shield. It then started rain strike after strike on the shield, but it didn't even budge a bit.

The demon was very enraged and gave it's all in the strike. *BOOM!!!!!!*. That final strike send out shockwaves and even blew Vik away.

The demon started to pant heavily. Vik and Minos still couldn't believe their eyes. That shield was still there like nothing happened, it didn't even budge a bit.

Saito then walked from behind Vik and gave him a hand and helped him stand. "Saito... Is that what you were trying? That shield yours?" Vik asked. Saito smiled, ""Petal Dance of Sakura", that's the name of that skill and its quite powerful" he said. "You don't say" Minos said as he landed behind them.

"You ready?" Saito asked Minos. Minos smiled and said, "I've been bored to death waiting for you to say those words".

Saito laughed and said, "Vik you did a good job! Now rest, we will take care of this mother f*cker". Vik smiled and walked to the back and sat down, enjoying the show.

Saito looked at Minos and nodded his head. Minos understood and started to chant as he crossed his wrists while holding his wand in one hand and pointing his other hand's palm at the demon, "Being of the Underworld, born from hate and despair, blood, bone and burn, let my enemies turn into a fearful bird! FEAR AFFECTION!". The head of the wand glowed and a dark ball conjured in front for him and sent out a dark beam towards the demon.

The Sakura shield split into six petals and let the beam hit it. The demon tried to parry it with its sword, but the sword absorbed the beam and spread it all over the demon's body.

The demon then got affected by the spell and was in total despair and started to shout like crazy.

The battle with the demon army was over since Herjar cleverly led the rogues and assassinated all the stronger demons while Bolgan led the Mercenaries and his gate guards bravely and wiped out small fries.

Since the rogues had the advantage in speed, they didn't get caught by attacks from stronger demons as they were slow compared to the speed of the rouges.

Bolgan and his men couped with the support from the Mercenaries and Mage teams took out all the low ranked demons. Flying demons didn't stand a chance against the veterans magic while the melee group guarded the mage teams from ground attack as mages guarded the melee forces from areal attacks. A perfect team work.

After they finished the battle they thought about helping the trio, but they didn't seem like they needed their help when they saw the weird pink flower shield.

After that they saw the demon exhausted it's energy to fight so they thought about moving in, but stopped when the looked at Minos chanting. The mage group got pumped to see what kind of magic the Necromancer will cast.

When they saw the beam they were in awe and when it hit the demon and seeing the demon in despair, they were even more intrigued by it. Losing one's cool in battle is equal to throwing one's life away, so that spell was really terrifying in some aspects and the mages respected him for siding with them despite him being a Necromancer.

"OK, its done so do whatever you want" Minos said as he looked at Saito. Saito smirked, "Now's the real show". "Mind if I watch with you?" Herjar came out of nowhere. All of them laughed and looked at Saito.

Saito snapped his fingers and the Petals formed three orbital rings around the demon, like an atom. Six petals were moving in their orbital path.

Saito snapped his fingers once again and each and every Petals started to spin while going around the demon. The demon was still shouting in despair and closed its eyes with its arms.

Saito then pointed his hand at the demon and closed his palm. The petals then started to cut the demon, piece by piece. Hands, legs, chest and finally head. The demon was butchered by the Petals.

Saito snapped again and they disappeared. The whole field was silent. The Mercs and guards were having their mouths hanging, Minos and Vik included.

"We.... We.... WE WON!!!!!!!!!!" a Mercenary shouted. "YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!" the rest of them followed and shouted as well. Herjar, Vik and Minos put their hands on Saito's shoulders. The Mercenaries ran towards them and lifted all four of them and started to toss them in the air while shouting and laughing and some even cried.

Bolgan smiled and came forward as he said, "Don't be happy yet! There is still the battle inside the city to be cleared, LET'S GO!" he shouted. "YEAH!!!!!!!" the rest also shouted.

"Don't be hasty commander Bolgan, did you think we were slacking?" Someone said.

Bolgan and the rest looked at the source of the voice and saw a guy in knight armor walk towards them. Behind him was a women with blonde hair and beautiful face, also in knight armor, and a guy wearing heavy armor with big shield and some lightly armoured guys and some guys wearing hooded robe followed by the Mercenaries and City guards.

Bolgan was surprised, "Flaming Rose, DareDevils, Golden Shields, the Mercs and City guard? Did you guys finish the fight inside the city already!?". The knight guy scratched his head while saying, "Well it was harder than we thought, but with the help from the Mercenaries and Mercenary guild, we somehow finished it with minimal damage to the city and thought that we would come helping you guys.... But it seems like its not necessary anymore".

The gate guards and Mercenaries who fought with Bolgan were all smiles. The female knight then came forward and pointed her sword towards Saito and his group, "Mind telling me why a Dark elf, a Monster and a Necromancer here? And why haven't you killed them yet?" she asked.

Saito stepped up and said, "Point that sword at my friends for five more seconds and I will have your head" Saito didn't hide his killing intent. The guards and Mercenaries behind her all drew their weapons.

"If you don't cool down, then you will have to face us" the Mercenaries behind Bolgan said and drew their weapons. The female knight and her subordinates were stunned.

She asked with her killing intent all over the place, "You bastards! What did you do!". They were about to clash, but Bolgan intervened, "Stop it both of you! And Saito, let me do the talking!".

"Very well then" Saito put back his blade into it's saya. The rest did the same and the female knight and the ones behind her pointed their weapons down.

Bolgan then started explain the whole situation clearly to them, how Saito fought and how Minos and Vik came at the right time and helped them and how Saito and the rest were friends and Saito was his friend and how the three of them fought against that huge demon and killed it, everything from the start.

The female knight then awkwardly scratched her head as she said, "Well... I'm sorry for misunderstanding you as enemy, a Necromancer, a Monster and a dark elf fighting against humans and others is common but this is the first time I've seen them fight along side others so I got a bit confused, I hope you can forgive me!" she bowed her head.

Saito and team smiled as he said, "Well if it's a misunderstanding we can forgive you since we are Mercs, but never point sword at my friends or the consequences will be terrible" Saito warned her.

The female knight nodded her head, "I'll never do such a mistake again!". Vik smiled, "A knight that realizes his or her mistake is a honorable one".

The female knight looked at Vik and said, "My name is Rosalia, leader of the Flaming Rose Mercenary group, are you a knight?". Vik smiled and said, "Vikkendi, Goblin Knight, I just finished my page training a few months ago, pleased to be acquainted with you Miss Rosalia" he bowed his head with a hand on his chest, like a knight.

Looking at this Rosalia blushed a bit and the Mercs were surprised and some laughed seeing her blush. "Ah! Pleased to be acquainted with you too Sir Vikkendi!" she did a 90 degree bow.

Everyone laughed at seeing her being flustered. The heavy armored guy came forward and said, "Valvid, Leader of the Golden Shields, nice to you lot". Saito said, "Saito, Just a Samurai and these are my friends, Herjar the Dark Elf Assassin, Vikkendi the Goblin Knight and Minos the Necromancer, nice to meet you".

The light armored guy came forward and introduced himself, "Yo, call me File like everyone does, I'm the leader of the DareDevils Mercenary group, good to meet y'all". Saito shook his hand and said, "Likewise".

File then looked at Vik and said, "Your name is Vikkendi if I remember correctly right?". Vik nodded and said, "That's right, but you call me Vik like everyone".

File smiled to ears and said, "Well then Vik, I'll buy you a drink after this for making Miss stone cold blush, alright?" he winked. "File, do you want to try dying for once? Since you are always escaping at a nicks gap, how about I send you to hell?" Rosalia said and she reeked of killing intent.

"Calm down calm down! It was just a joke! Can't you take a joke? This is why you still can't find a man" Flie said. "Now he did it" Bolgan said. "Yep, god help him" the Knight guy who was leading the group from the city battle said.

Rosalia hacked her sword at File. He escaped it and started to run while Rosalia chased after him without a word. They all laughed.

Bolgan called Saito and introduced the guy in Knight armor to him, "This is the commander of city guards, Sullivan and the guys over here are the Commanders for the other gates". Saito nodded his head and introduced himself to everyone, "I'm Saito, a Samurai from east, nice to meet you".

One of the gate commander's said, "Still, despite looking young, you got skills to kill a high ranked demon, I'm envious of you youngsters". The other commander said, "Don't talk like an old man, we are still in our early forties". They all laughed.

While they were talking, Vik moved using his lighting speed and stopped Rosalia from going crazy by catching her sword with both his hands. "I think this should be enough Miss Rosalia" Vik said. Rosalia came back to herself and blushed when she saw him holding the blade of her sword. She took her sword back and Vik immediately let go of it and she was still blushing hard. Vik smiled, since his features are similar to that of an elf, he still looked handsome despite his green color. And this made Rosalia's heart go *BA-DAMN*. At least it didn't go "Ka-Boom".

File reached the side of Minos and said, "Well I think your friend is more capable in handling girls than a sword". Minos smiled and said, "I also feel that way now after you say it". Herjar laughed and looked for Saito.

Saito introduced Herjar and others to the commanders. When they noticed it, the sun already started to rise. The Mercenaries and guard looked at it. The sunlight landed on their faces and the fresh air made them feel at ease.

Bolgan shouted, "LADS! TODAY WE ARE CELEBRATING OUR VICTORY! DRINKS AND FOOD ARE ON US!". His words received cheers from every side. Everyone were hugging and laughing with each other.

Bolgan then dropped the bomb, "NOW CLEAN THIS MESS BEFORE CELEBRATING!". The cheers stopped and they all looked at the battlefield of corpses. They all let out *sighs* and started to work. Saito and his team also joined them. Vik smiled and left Rosalia, who was feeling something different than usual.

The Guards also helped clean up the mess. The ones that fought inside the city cleaned the city, while the ones that fought outside cleaned the battlefield outside.

Many cried while picking up the bodies of their dead comrades. The dead Mercenaries and guards were given a proper burial. Lose of lives in a battle is common, but winning the battle with less causality is worth it.
