Chapter 5

Logan moved down the street watching all the villagers doing their daily chores. He couldn't help but sigh. He remembered when he also did all the daily chores before he got stuck in to this world. He opened the bag of coins an counted them. Conan had given him 10 coppers. He rembered when he had read the manual before he entered, it had stated everything about the currency used here.

100 coppers=1 silver and 100 silvers=1 gold.

Logan was curious about why the man had given him 10 coppers. 10 coppers was a lot of money for these villagers. Logan shoved the curiosity aside, as he had to walk through a few shops before he found the one that sold clothing. He walked inside and glanced around the small shop. A middle-aged lady was sitting at a small wooden table and she was counting coppers. When Logan walked into the shop she glanced up at him and then went back to counting her money.

Logan walked up to the table as he waited for the lady to help him. The lady noticed him waiting when she spoke up,

"Hey, boy where are your parents?"

Logan was stunned for a second as he realized what she meant. He had to calm himself so he wouldn't snap back at her.

"I'm here to buy some clothes, don't tell me you have to be a certain age to buy clothing." Logan asked calmly.

"No but don't you think your a little young to have money." the lady said in a mocking voice.

Logan was angry at this lady for thinking he was to young, but he tried to sound as calm as possible when he said,

"I can pay for the clothes," as he pulled out the bag of coppers. The lady looked at the coppers, then she looked back up to him with a smile.

"Okay, may I ask what kind of clothes you want?" she asked in sweet voice.

Logan was even angrier at this lady now, because she turned nice when she knew he had money. But he tried not to show it as he told her what clothes he wanted. The lady walked into the back of her shop and brought out clothes and shoes for him.

He put the clothes on and took off his [Boots of Phantoms] and put them in his inventory. The shirt had long sleeves that reached full to his hands. It also seemed to be made of leather of some kind. Logan was curious because when he touched the clothes he couldn't see their stats. He ignored it and looked at his pants. They were simple and loosely fit, they seemed to be made from a rare leather. The shoes he put on were also made of leather, but they seemed quite ordinary in design.

He also had a rough leather belt that was held together by an ornate pin.

He walked over to the mirror and looked at himself. He seemed more handsome than he did previously. He walked back to the lady and set down 3 coppers. He walked out of the shop onto the street. As he walked past everyone on the street would look at him. He thought nothing of it and walked back to the blacksmith shop.

Logan walked inside but he didn't see Conan at the forge.

"Oh well, I'll just take a look around." Logan thought to himself.

He walked up to the forge and grabbed the hammer sitting on the side. He tried lifting the hammer but he could barely move it.

"Damn it, I need to get more strength on me or I'm going to become a total joke." he thought depressed.

Since he couldn't swing the hammer he decided to keep looking around. He walked through the door in the back of the shop, when he saw a small room. Their was a bed in the corner, with Conan sleeping soundly on it. Logan couldn't help but laugh, here it was the middle of the day and the blacksmith was sleeping. The room also had a simple wooden chest on the end of the bed.

"Hmm... well it could be where he puts his personal belongings, but it also could be a treasure chest that is apart of the game. But why would it be in a bedroom. Well, should I take a look or not." Logan was in a dilemma because he desperately needed equipment, but he didn't want Conan to wake up and kill him for looking in it.

"Oh well, I'll just wait for now." he thought as he walked back out of the room. He was heartbroken but he couldn't let one little treasure chest bring him down. Their was a bin of iron in the corner of the room, most likely the stuff he used for forging weapons. Logan grabbed a piece of the iron to read its stats...

[Numb Metal]

Level 1

"Numb Metal, interesting name, but it is level 1 material after all so it should be pretty good quality. He threw the chunk of metal back into the bin and was getting ready to walk out the door when he heard Conan's half asleep voice from behind him.

"Hey, kid, I have your first task. Go get me more metal, all the equipment you need is in the storage room behind my shop. You'll be able to find the metal on the mountain a little ways from the village."

Logan looked behind him to ask how much he wanted, but Conan had already slammed the door behind him.

Logan was speechless, but he walked out the door anyways. He came around the corner of the shop and saw a small structure that looked like it was a 50 years old. The wood siding was sagging and barely held together, and the door was warped it was surprising it even was still on the hut. He shoved the door open as the whole structure swayed and showed signs of falling over. Logan walked slowly into the building. Their was a few shovels, pickaxes, and a few different mining tools. Logan grabbed everything he needed and put it in his inventory and headed out towards the mountain that towered behind the village.

When Logan arrived at the base of the mountain, he noticed the mountain had many different colored rocks all over it. It also had many different trees and plants, but Logan was only interested in the silver colored rocks.

"It seems that this world isn't fully game driven, considering the clothes I'm wearing don't seem to exist in the game. There must be much more to this world than I expected. I also need to get more information on where I am, and more about this world."

Logan moved up the mountain and soon arrived at a 3 foot tall rock that had a silver sheen that glimmered in the sunlight. He pulled the pick axe out of the inventory and started hitting the rock. As he pounded with the pickaxe for a few minutes, all that remained of the rock, was hundreds of fist sized pieces of [Numb Metal]. He threw them all into the inventory and decided to keep moving up the mountain.
