Chapter 19 Small Lion in the north

Winterfell

Tyrion pov

Tyrion Lannister had no interest in the new Hand, he came to the north with the King's procession to see the sights of the north,the wild lands that has been topic of conversations in the seven kingdoms for years now

He came to see Moat Cailin the new castle that people can't stop taking about, even on the road he heard so many tales of the castle's beauty and strength, but fate was not on his side, the king wanted to get to winterfell as quickly as possible and the procession just traveled by it

The castle was beautiful even from far away but he was not fortunate enough to see it from the inside,as the king was traveling through the kingsroad all the nearby lords offered to host them or sent their men to greet them, but the lord of Moat Cailin just ignored the royal procession which was interesting to say the least

As he could not see Moat Cailin he set his sights to Winterfell and the Starks direwolves, looking at Winterfell he understood how the Starks were kings of the north, the castle might be old but it had a feeling of strength and beauty to it, the same kind of beauty that is wild like the north and its people

When he came with the king he met all of the stark children aside from the bastard Jon Snow, which was once again odd because lords from all over the north came to greet the king but lord commander of the wolfgaurds was absent

He heard a lot tales about the boy who they called the white wolf, as a brother to a legendary swordsman he was familiar with such tales, he wanted to see if the boy was worth such lofty titles but he failed at that too, it seems luck wasn't on his side these days

So here he was in the godswoods of Winterfell to see the legendary direwolves of the starks, he is traveling deeper into the woods but he hasn't seen any wolves yet, as he was nearing the heart tree he saw them

There were four of them, one of them white as the snow with beautiful red eyes and the other grey with golden eyes who was playing with the two little wolves

The white one is sitting on the ground near the heart tree, he was magestic and beautiful, even sitting down the wolf was taller than him, the wolf looked at him for a second, his red eyes seem to able see through my soul, then the wolf just looked away like the wolf didn't care about the small man that walked into the woods,as he was admiring such wonderful creatures he heard a voice from behind

"What are doing here? " He turned around to see Arya stark standing behind him, the girl was the only one of the stark children that has the stark colouring ,but she was not wearing a dress today but training clothes and breeches instead

"I came here to see the direwolves my lady, I wanted to see them since I came here but could not find them anywhere in the castle,a maid told me that the direwolves stay in godswoods so here I am"

The girl looked at me with doubt but then nodded and went to the large white wolf and started petting him "you are very lucky lord tyrion that ghost my brother Jon's direwolf is here ,if he was not than greywind over here would have roughed you up and thrown you out" she said while pointing to the large grey one

"Greywind doesn't like people coming in the godswoods, one time in Moat Cailin a poacher tried to steal the pups that were just born, greywind ripped his arm out and pinned the thief till the guards came, the man was crying and begging to take him away from greywind, it is very dangerous for people to go near the direwolves without a stark around"

"I am sorry , I didn't know I should thank ghost here for saving my little life, I heard all stark children have direwolves which one is yours" I asked trying to get over the fact I could have died here while looking for direwolves

"No we don't all have one, Robb's greywind here and Jon's ghost,I have nymeria here and Bran's summer but the other two pups stay at Moat Cailin, Rickon is too young to take care of shaggydog and Lady Sansa's wolf doesn't follow her out of godswoods, Jon says the direwolves have to accept us before they can be are companion and lady doesn't accept Sansa yet"

So the little wolves are only pups but there are already a little bigger than normal wolves pretty soon they will also tower over most men like ghost and greywind here

"So how old are nymeria and summer"

"They are just two moons old pretty soon nymeria will get big enough like a horse and I will lead her into battle with the she-wolfs of the wolfgaurds"

"My lady why would want to go into battle, you are a noble lady of a great house why risk your life"

"Jon says that the ladies of the north don't hide behind men like southern ladies, they can protect the north just as well as any man and its important that ladies know how to protect themselves"

"And what does your noble mother says about this? "

"She doesn't like it but I don't care, Sansa can be her perfect noble lady but I am from the north, ours is the old way only Sansa and mother follow the seven here"

This Jon Snow only seems to get more interesting, hopefully I get to stay at Moat Cailin after visiting the wall and meet the boy, stark kids clearly idolised this white wolf but will it be good thing or a bad thing for the Starks
