Shift in the war

The battle raged on with the hounds and the rixis as they tried to undermine and kill the other in a never-ending fight for survival.

It had been a month after the attack on the meeting the leaders of the tribes held, and now most of the tribes had recovered. The number of warriors had dropped, but with a new wave of recruits from other lands looking for blood and glory they was stronger than before.

The Jackrixis now fought in a much smarter way with more hit and run tactics and using tactics such as burning the lands and using traps.

Sadly, because of the snow, the fire wasn't as affective as it could be, and it took time to make the substance that caught fire so well and lasted a long time.

The Jackrixis understood that fighting the hounds in a normal war wasn't possible they would grow their numbers too quickly.

Now, the fatalities on the border tribes had dropped as they understood they were just needed to hold the hounds back, not win the war. They weren't expected to go into the forest and purge it off the demonic beasts but was expect to be the wall that holds them off.

An interesting thing started to appear in the border towns, which was the wearing of hound skin and claws as jewellery that they showed of proudly. It seemed that they were starting to create a basic culture to do with the hounds and a status symbol of killing them.

Even the few little blues that lived in the tribes would experiment with the organs of the hounds and study the corpses. Not only the hounds but also the rixis and themselves and the plant life and the effects they have.

Now that they didn't need to worry about food or protection, the blues had all the time they needed to argue and reaefch with each other. Oftentimes, a blue would be seen running around with handfuls of material from strange dirt or grass to bugs and anything they could get.

Nothing caused the blood of these little guys bumping than to discover and learn and grow in knowledge, wisdom, and obviously power. A point to remember is that they weren't perfect and completely innocent or pure like the rixis they way Nancy made them makes it hard. But some will want power and control and to feel better than others, and to be the smartest in the room.

Luckily, most were too happy and bust researching to get there yet, but when the basics were already discovered and known and discovery's become more rare they may start to creep into the hearts of the blues.

The war in terms of the blues had lasted for a decent amount of time, roughly 3 to 4 months, which is longer than the fights they had.Its the stone age so you meet and fight and then see who loses its pretty simple most of the time.

But the gods and the creator himself but importance on this task the faithful or proud among them would stand tall and ready.

One such use of faith was the arrival of the Harvester clan whose ways proved extremely useful against the hounds.

The way they fight and think was exactly what the gods wanted as they used the nature around them to help them fight. They didn't feel it was dishonorable to use poison or run away and wait they saw it as a tactic.

Some other clans and rixis would look down on their ways, but the Harvester seen taking down the enemy without harming yourself as the ultimate form of a hunter. You use the recourses around you to strength and improve your odds against stronger foes.

This was an important part of the Harvester clan as they never went after something weaker than themselves, so for the hounds, they only went after large packs and left the smaller ones to the other tribes.

They of cource had a saying like all clans do, which was "We grant you a peaceful death" although killing something with poison is debatable on if that's peaceful.

The use of the Harvester tactics that they honed and improved in the plains had great use in the border tribes. One inevitable cause of this of the negative side was the jealousy of other clans but they would happen anyway.

One big difference also was that the rixis, with the help of the blues, would send out scouts to make sure the hounds weren't trying to burrow again as they didn't want another massacre. They also put small crude torches and fire outside the camps to give them more visibility and heat, which was a bonus.

The size of the packs since these things were implemented had begun to shrink, and it was possible they had even been pushed back. Although this could be another trap to lure them into thinking they had won so they were careful and didn't rush into fights anymore.

That was the strange way the rixis worked where they could be calm and patient hunters or brutes who smash and claw their prey.

In regards to the Project Nyx was handling, he had decided to spilt the team of warriors into 2 groups, one being scouts, the other being attackers, and both had important jobs with the scouts being tasked with finding the nest and protecting the attackers until they get their.

While the attackers' main job was to fight off the strongest demon hounds and to destroy the nest in any way, they can.

The main point was so that the attackers would have as much energy and vitality to finish the job. And not get bogged down by the waves of hounds that would die to protect the nest they came from.

"So what's our odds exactly?"-Jack

"Pha..ah.. I don't know, maybe 70 per cent. The main problem is the nest, which we don't know what it's made of or looks like"-Nyx

Jack and Nyx were currently sitting on Jack's couch or, as he would call it, sette as they gazed at the lands of the rixis and blues.

"But we have given them the best training of weapons available along with the best of the group getting our blessings"-Nyx

"They also have great teamwork and communication along with a decent plan, so I say we did our best with what we got"-Nyx

"I guess we just have to pray that this works then"-Jack

"Aren't we supposed to be the gods for them"-Nyx

"True, but I'll always be a little human left in me"-Jack

"I kinda hope I can go to earth one day. What's it like, Jack?"-Nyx

"Ha, it's boring"-Jack
