12 THE HEROINE
"There is no need to look so scared. I will not harm you, at least for now." she assuaged the heroine's fears, after witnessing the trepidation in her eyes.
" Ranyan! I will believe you when pigs fly in the sky!"
she was trying to sound brave but her voice was trembling and so soft that she could hardly be heard.
" I'm not Ranyan, just like you are not in your original body. Who I am is of no consequence and if you want to live you will not ask anymore questions and follow me. I will give you treatment and ensure you survive and live the life you're supposed to."
" How am i supposed to believe a single word out of your mouth?! This is could be a new plan you hatched to bring me down in this life!"
"Hahaha! Are you an idiot!? I should have guessed so. After all you just depend on your little husband don't you. Without him you would have died a million times over. Not that there is anything wrong with that per se but it makes you dumb. You are lying in a mass grave close to death, with wolves circling around to rip your body apart the minute I leave! I need not do anything and you'd still be dead if that's what I wanted. Do you get it now? Coming with me now is your only chance of survival. You'll have to trust me to be your hero till you reunite with Jiu Yun." She really cracked herself up sometimes, what a joke, Han Xixi a hero! Hahaha!
" Why are you talking so much with this dimwit. I can't believe she is the one you wanted to find."
suddenly sounded Ning Xiao who had arrived quietly behind her like a whisper on the wind.
" It isn't any of your business. She is important to my task."
" Th..the..th..e..the... Em...per....ro...rrr!" Wh..wh..wh..y are you he..re."
On seeing Ning Xiao, Qingyu's voice started trembling and shivering like a withering leaf about to fall. There was fear and revulsion in her tone.
Xixi turned around and glared at him " What did you do to her you pervert! She looks about to die now in fear!"
His eyebrows arched up as a look of bewilderment flitted across his face. " I've never even seen her before. What could I have done?!"
"Hmph! Let's not discuss this right now. Qingyu, I'm asking you for the last time, will you or will you not leave with me this instant?" Her patience was running thin, this heroine seemed to be a dunderhead. How the hell did she escape that crazy sister of hers in so many lives! The power of an author was indeed fantastic.
Qingyu bit her lips as she realized she had no other means of escape right now. Her only choice was this apparently fake Ranyan. As soon as she made her decision, Xixi lifted her up as though she weighed as much as a feather and flitted out of the graveyard with Ning Xiao right on her heels. She obviously could not get rid of this nuisance right now unfortunately. He was needed for the plot but more importantly, she couldn't take him down with her current abilities. Damn it, this shitty system was going to be the death of her!
They quietly traversed the night, their shadow intermingling with the darkness, hidden under the moonlight; not a sound could be heard other than the whispers of the trees in the wind. They finally reached Ning Xiao's compound.
"Are you going to follow me all the way to my courtyard your highness? i don't wish to spark any unnecessary rumors so I would recommend you leave. But if you could send someone discreet and trustable with some medicine for her injuries I would be grateful."
"But I have no use for your gratitude. Offer me something else and I might comply with your wishes" he slyly retorted.
'Bah!you bastard, if it wasn't because my system was down I wouldn't even bother to waste my saliva on you.' Xixi thought contemptuously.
"Well what do you want in return then?" she asked as she held the now unconscious heroine in her arms.
"I want you send me a note when you go out to do such interesting stuff again. Life wouldn't be so boring I feel if I followed you around for a while. After all you still haven't told me what measures I have to take to meet my 'ultimate rival' as you quoted." he replied with a smirk gracing his lips
"I'm not a clown for your entertainment your highness but I will inform you the next time I have to go out. That is the most I can compromise with you." she retorted as anger coloured her cold voice.
"That will do for now I suppose. Someone will come by shortly with the medicine." he replied and abruptly left.
After confirming that he was long gone, she entered her courtyard and placed Qingyu onto the bed. She wondered when the system would awaken. she hoped it would be sooner rather than later. There were a lot of things to be done.
