6 DC~ That's Life

*SLAM*

I jump up off my bed and tiptoe to my door.

*POUND POUND POUND POUND*

"WAKE UP TROOPS, FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL IS UPON US"

Take a guess who that would be.

He always tries to sound smart so he uses "big words". It is really annoying. Pressing my ear against the door, I try to hear if the others are waking up yet. I hear Cassandra walking around, probably looking for something "AMAZINGLY-CUTETIFYING" to wear. I also hear the twins, Christopher and Charles, in their room fighting over some clothes. What a mess. Straining my ears, I try to listen for my step-father. That is when I hear the shower start.

Finally, I sigh. Turning around, I quietly locate my backpack and walk over to it. Swinging it over my shoulder, I look around to make sure I haven't forgotten anything. Confident I have everything, I walk back to my door. Pressing my ear against the door again, I make sure that the coast is clear. Hearing the shower, arguing, and a phone conversation, I silently open the door. Slipping into the hallway and down the stairs, I walk over to the fridge, carefully opening it to grab breakfast. I pick up an apple and walk over to the door.

Grabbing my skateboard, I hear that everyone is still slowly getting ready. Opening, closing, and locking the door behind me, I can still hear them and their loud mouths. Jeeze. If my mother could hear them she would be in an uproar. Good thing she works nights. But even then I am the only one to ever hear their torture (and endure it also). Whenever she is around, they all act like angels.

Putting my skateboard down, I think about the upcoming school day. Gliding down the street I wonder if I will have a good day and make some friends finally (unlikely) or if I will be branded as the loner again (most likely). I have never been known to be an extrovert or the popular kid. Always been that one kid in the corner with their nose in a book (most likely about space or aliens). But anyways, my main goal is to SURVIVE and not to get on anyone's bad side.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say, me and my mom moved in with my step-father last summer so I am the new kid so that last point is REALLY important.

But if I do get on someone's bad side, well... I wouldn't be surprised. That is the way my luck has been going. I am the no-luck-nothing-goes-good-for-me kinda guy. That's life.
