8 DC~ Live and Let Die

Imagine a picture of your school. Then imagine the artist decided to take a black marker and then scratch it all out. Now imagine a 3D model of your school. Inside there are rooms with no windows and evil demon teachers sitting in their little evil chairs with little evil smiles on their faces that say "I want to be your friend" but really mean "I am thinking about how to kill each of you in different ways."

Bam! That's my school.

Well...probably not. I don't know exactly but that is what I think it is gonna be like (or at least what it looks like anyway).

As I slow to a stop at the entrance, I can't but notice all the parents everywhere. I see them talking to their kids (pestering them, no doubt), talking to teachers, and even talking to each other. I have never seen so many parents on the 1st day of school or even just AT the school EVER! And believe me, I should know. I've been kicked out of too many schools to count (more on this later).

Taking a deep breath I open the door.

Immediately I can sense a change in the atmosphere. The most noticeable thing that is a jump from the chaos outside is the utter silence. As I wander around, I see classrooms, lockers, and "inspiring" posters on the walls.

I locate the main office and enter the room. A woman, who looks around 50 or 60, is sitting behind a desk on the phone. I wait as she finishes her conversation and places the cell on her desk.

"Thank you for waiting. I'm Ms. Valintine, the secretary here at Sea Crest High. How may I assist you?" the lady behind the desk says. "Well, Ms. Valintine, I didn't receive a schedule in the mail and wanted to know if you-" I start. "Could print a copy of it for you?" Ms. Valintine finishes sharply. "Erm, y-yes?" I say hesitantly. "Normally I would say no, but I haven't had such a respectful inquirer in quite some time" the secretary says with a smile. I release the breath I didn't know I was holding and smile gratefully back. "Now tell me your name so you can get to class before you're late" Ms. Valintine says. "Daniel Curve, I'm a sophomore" I reply. "Okay, here we are" Ms. Valintine declares as the printer starts up.

A few seconds later, the schedule is printed. Ms. Valintine hands the paper to me and states, "If you ever need anything, Daniel, you know where to find me" "Thank you, Ms. Valintine, have a nice day!" I reply as I walk out the door.

I look down at the schedule and see that my homeroom is in room 312. Second floor. I find the stairs and slink up to the door. I open the door.

I'm caught off guard from the laughter that is in every corner of the room.

The teacher is laughing with some students near her desk and teens all around the room are joking and messing around. Walking towards the mob around the desk, I wave to the teacher. "Oh hello!" the young girl, maybe college-aged, says. "My name is Carrie Candi but you can call me Candi if you want" the teacher says with a smile. "Sweet" I reply, cringing at my joke I accidentally made. "I'm Daniel, but you can call me Danny" I say, shaking her hand. "Nice to meet you, Danny. You may choose any seat you like" Candi says gesturing around the room. "Thanks" I reply, looking towards a corner nearby.

I see a girl and a boy sitting in the corner talking and I walk towards them. "Hi, I'm Danny" I say nervously. The girl talks first. "Hiya I'm Lizzie, the bookworm, and this is Beau, resident crackhead" "Excuse me! If anyone is on crack, it's definitely you." the boy says back with a laugh. I laugh. "Rad. Do you mind if I sit next to you guys?" "Naw man, go ahead" Beau replies. "Thanks, dude" I say.

I sit down and pull out my earbuds. Scrolling through my playlist, I click a random song. Putting the earpiece in I hear the lyrics that describe my life right now...

"But if this ever changin' world

In which we're livin'

Makes you give in and cry

Say live and let die

Live and let die"
