Chapter 3

As Ariel and I were questioning each other, the wolf was attempting to determine who was weaker, seeing the panicked expression on my face, it immediately decides that I would be the easier target. After deciding, it jumps halfway across the classroom towards me ready to literally bite my head off.

"Watch out!" Ariel screams when she notices the lunging figure.

I quickly switch my attention to the wolf only to see it a mere two feet away from my face. Before I can process what's happening, my body instinctively tries to avoid the danger by jumping to the side towards Ariel.

Although I avoided having my head bitten off, the wolf was too close, and still bit my leg and held tight. Knowing I had to get it to let go, I frantically swung my dagger at the wolf's face in a hope of forcing it to let go. My dagger slashes across the wolf's right eye, blinding it and making it let go as it howls in pain.

As my vision goes dark, I see Ariel plunge her sword into the wolves ribs from the side before I pass out.

As I open my eyes, I realize I'm no longer in any place in familiar with. I've woken up in a large Victorian Era bed in a plain room. Remembering the battle I just seemingly survived, I look down towards my foot to realize that there's no wound or even scar, although I can still feel phantom pain.

Looking around the room, I see a large wardrobe, a small dresser, and a small vanity table. By the bed I'm laying in are two large windows with red drapes. Across the room from said windows is a singular white door.

When I try to get up from the bed, I feel a sharp but disappearing pain in my leg that causes me to fall down. As I pull myself back up, I notice the pain has completely disappeared without a trace.

Looking out the window I see that it's become night in the time I've been out, I don't if it's been days, weeks, or just hours, but I'm sure as hell in trouble at school by now. The only normal thing that'll probably ever be in my life again. Let's not worry about that for now and figure out where I am.

I walk towards the door to open it as my stomach starts to rumble. Guess I've got to find some food as well. The door creaks as I open it, making sure that somebody must've heard it because it echoes down the hallway.

The door 2 doors down open up, revealing Ariel in pajamas looking down towards me. When she lays eyes on me, her eyes go wide and she rushes down to me. She nearly tackles me as she jumps into me, giving me a hug.

"I am so glad you didn't die, I wouldn't have known how to explain your death after having left the class with you." She says in a very relieved voice. "You've been out for less than a day, thankfully we were able to heal you."

"I'm happy that I'm alive as well, but can you please explain what's going on?" I insist while pushing her off of me, trying not to be rude.

"Of course, but it can wait till the morning when everyone else is awake, all you need to know is that you're safe here. Go back to your room and try to sleep if you can, otherwise try to figure out how you summoned that dagger yesterday." She says while pushing me back into my room. "Good night, see you in the morning." She closes the door.

*****

No wonder i passed out, my physical stats are horrible. From the looks of it, 5 is about the average for normal people, since I'm always near the middle when running the mile for PE. Maybe I shouldn't have ignored PE.

I probably would've been better with that bow or the spell. At least it seems to play games all the time had helped with my wisdom and intelligence. Although i still don't know how to use mana. Maybe I have to try and sense it first?

If games and novels are any indications, meditation should help me, or at least i hope it does. It's supposed to help you focus and relax, so maybe I'll be able to notice the mana that way?

As i sit down on the bed, i cross my legs and put my hands on my knees. Am i supposed to hum, or is that just some Buddhist tradition? Whatever, ill try that later.

Focus. Sense my mana, find an energy...

After about 10 minutes without any effect, I open my eyes.

*****

Well, at least something happened. But i still don't know how to control it. The meditation skill says I should be able to create skills, so maybe i have to keep meditating.

I get back into position and start focusing on trying to control my mana, that I can now sense.
