1 Thrown through time

The life of Paul was largely uneventful. He slept, ate, worked, and had fun. He never had many surprises in his life and he was fine with that. Though in 2020 disaster struck, his life was basically turned upside down when COVID-19 came to be known as a pandemic in the world.

He got so stressed out about it that he would have never noticed that the world was speeding up around him and it was quickly leaving him behind. The house he was living in became decrepit overtime and the outside of the house wasn't faring well either with numerous wars, animals never seen before appearing and an ice age that could have lasted thousands of years as it flashed by while Paul was still having his mental breakdown.

As he started to calm down by consoling himself that he was going to be all right he slowly opened his eyes and time resumed its normal flow albeit a few million years in the future. When Paul took in his surroundings he was put into a state of shock at the sight of his home that had turned into a humid jungle with plants and animals he had never seen before. He quickly took his phone out thinking that he could reach another human but, upon touching it the device disintegrated.

After having his semi-new phone just disintegrate he also found that his clothes were starting to flake off as if he had been wearing them for thousands of years. His reasoning told him that this could not be happening and it was all probably just a dream but, he had a feeling that he was entirely alone now no family, no friends, nobody.

Just as he was about to have another mental breakdown a large creaking sound was coming from

the floor beneath him as it gave way beneath his weight . Thankfully his room was only on the second floor and there was plenty of lush foliage to break his fall. Now that he was on the ground he calmed down a bit he checked himself for injuries, finding nothing broken or bleeding he took in his surroundings.

A brief moment later he sighed and said to himself "This Sucks."

He started to think about those survival skills he had learned in boy scouts and the three essentials he needed to survive food, water and shelter. The house he had lived in before was half collapsed but could still shield him from outside elements, if he could clear some of the brush away. Food and water would be difficult to find since he couldn't identify anything around himself and the plumbing probably doesn't work anymore.

When he was ready he stood up and started to clear away some of the brush that had grown inside of the uncollapsed part of the building. While clearing the various plants he tried to identify them without much luck. He soon gave up trying, instead focused on trying to figure out what had happened to him. Everything around him looked almost completely different he was even surprised part of his house was still standing. As he thought more he ruled out going back in time since his house was still there so the only other option to believe would be that this was the future.

Tears suddenly started coming to his eyes. After a few seconds full on bawling ensued when thinking about how all of the people he knew would be dead even if he found other humans he wouldn't be able to see his loved ones again. A hole seemed to form in his heart as he came to the realization that he would never be able to go back and see his Mom and Dad, his friends he joked around with, or even his dreadful boss who always gave him a hard time.

With tears still streaming down his face he cleared a space for him to sleep for the night and laid down some of the leaves he had fallen on earlier to sleep on. He payed down in his haggard state listening to the sounds around him and instantly fell asleep.

He was awoken by a screech that rang through out the jungle. It pierced his ears until they almost bled. It was a screech that was completely inhuman and scared Paul into a fully awakened state. The screech seemed to be getting closer by the second. Paul panicked trying to find a suitable weapon or sharp object he could defend himself with settling with a massive thorn about the thickness and length of his arm he had broken off if a giant tree growing beside his house. He quickly hid behind a half broken down wall in the corner of the uncollapsed part of his house where he could see from the direction the bloodcurdling screech was coming from.
