2 History

Bai Li flipped through the page to find where he left his bookmark where he had last stopped reading. The book basically explained every minute detail of significant events and summarized the history of man as they traversed the cosmos. It was safe to say that the book would not be small.

As correct as it was, the book was large, even larger than normal textbooks as the pages themselves were the same length and width of a large screened television. The book itself was just a small snippet of a large collection, and even then the book had around two thousand pages.

The notebook he left as a bookmaker was his study device to remember the details of the previous volumes he read on the history of his race.

From the time that Earth existed and became a mecca of innovation and technology, yet dried up from resources. Even their salvation in the discovery of Soul Crystals. the power source they still use today as it provided all the uses necessary to allow mankind to expand their reach to the outer rim of galaxies.

But as much as there were great times, there was almost an equal amount of bad mixed in major events and inner workings to allow them to highlight the great.

The corruption of several nation-states wrought the land with war and turmoil over their scarce resources. The poor population resorted to piracy and crime became the norm.

It only changed when Soul Crystals were introduced as the world finally united together upon a singular goal to traverse more worlds for their resources.

Humanity would only know the fruition of their work after the next twenty years with their extraneous efforts. The first world outside their solar system was colonized and the access to resources brought an even brighter flame of ambition.

But all of this was strange. A strange series of events that happened all to occur at the same time.

'It could not have been so simple.' Bai Li thought as he read on in his notes. It always took him an hour for him to catch up from where he last left off, even with his quick memorization skills. And during that hour at the same time, he would have the same question instilled in his mind.

'How could this happen? It could just be fair play,' thought Bai Li as he placed his fingers around his temples.

'But it was just too simply good to be true.'

No matter where you look in history, their was always a few bad apples that anyone could point their hands to highlight the bad in the good as there was no such thing as a perfect stage.

'It's exactly like a stage.'

This tugging curiosity in his chest kept him up at night sometimes. But this only came through his upbringing when he was little. Oh so how little he knew when he was young.

But this was just as much as Bai Li could think as the first bad event that the textbook provide to show the example that continued to halt Bai Li's questioning of history.

The first introduction of an intelligent sentient lifeform and the first-ever alien race to contact Humanity. And the first time Humanity faced a foe even stronger than their ambitions.

A fully advanced society with its own set of rules and ideology, known as the Shikan Dominion.

They were hostile from the very beginning as they stopped EASTER's advances into the universe.

'Oh I forgot to mention EASTER'

EASTER was the abbreviation of the world alliance that was first formed on Earth to unite the political powers to fully develop the roadmap of human society in the cosmos.

It stood for the Earthen Alliance Space Taskforce for Exploration and Research.

'The name did not stick well and it was too long to be put on a flag.' He furrowed his brow as he remembered the insignificant detail that he would not need from the exam.

But Bai Li was getting sidetracked.

This was EASTER's biggest conflict so they began ramping up their military research with the introduction of the first combat suit prototype called HARE [Hard Adapting Reflective Energy] suits. Ships were also fashioned like prototypes like the HARE suit as they used repurposed and tuned mining lasers as the first weaponry to be fitted on their vessels.

[Author Here - I currently don't know what I should replace in my abbreviation for the combat suit prototype. Please post in the comments if you're able to manage to make a better acronym for the HARE suits. If I find one that I think sounds better, I'll replace it and remove this text bubble! Hope you enjoy reading this!]

'And this was only possible with Soul Crystal's volatile nature. As it allowed them to be able to harness such power.'

But even with all their efforts and innovations to combat the Shikan Dominion, it was far too late as Earth was finally caught in the mix.

'Earth was being sent shipments of soul crystals harvested all around the galaxy, becoming the leading solar system to hold most if not all crystals as it became stored in energy cells to be used in research and utilized in weapons and ship engines.'

But a new property of Soul Crystals was found when placed in dense quantities that researchers could have never guessed with how docile Soul Crystals were when first discovered.

'Material Synchronization Dimension Tearing'

The transition of a dwindled era and the birthing ground of the current where primitive weaponry and ancient martial arts started resurfacing with modern improvements and twists.

Earth was gone, and a new dimension took its place.

Bai Li could only smile as he kept on reading. This was why he loved history so much as you could find the ideas of what ancient humans used to do back in their time. When they had their own share of issues and the mysticism that shrouded the human history of Earth.

'This is what I would've written my thesis based on if I were to go to university.'

Bai Li sighed once again as the current reality would not allow him to enter a standard academic university. He had a future to worry about as an orphan along with his birthright in a soul crystal mining world.

He shook his head again as he focused back on the present again, there was no more use worrying about the future and past any longer.

His head shifted to find the clock on the wall. His bemusement when he saw that three hours already passed as he already finished the textbook.

'Can't believe I wasted this much time on a history book again.'

He had other subjects in school to focus on as he shoved the large textbook aside to grab the small collection of books he also grabbed.

Picking up the book from the very top, he started writing notes about the plethora of mathematical equations and their applications inside the textbook.

This day seemed to only hold more sighs for Bai Li as he flipped through page after page the rest of the night.
