16 We Have To Go

Just then Sister Liz came in the room and saw the two talking. She smiled.

"What did I miss now?" she said.

Sera stood up to greet Sister Liz. "Old sis, Sister Leia just g-"

"We were just talking about the Stedores." Sister Leia followed up as she also stood up.

"Oh, I see." Sister Liz said with a little sadness in her eyes.

Sister Leia grabbed the opportunity to change the topic, "I have a matter to report." she said.

"Ah yes." Sister Liz replied and looked at Sera, "Sera, please go and look over the children at the library first. We'll call you when supper is ready." she said with a smile.

Sera nodded and smiled bacl as she walked out of the room and went in the library, humming a merry tune.

"So, what's the situation?" Sister Liz asked as she leaned her back on her chair.

"The punishments have been executed. All of them are currently in a deep sleep at the moment." Sister Liz answered.

"What do you think would be the results of the punishment to them?"

"Guessing by their reactions during their last moments, we could say it is effective. We have yet to be certain until the time they wake up- if they wake up." Sister Leia replied.

"I think we'll just have to wait then." Sister Leia sighed as she looked outside the glass door with hopes in her eyes that nothing bad would happen.

The dining hall was bustling with people as the preparations were made. Various dishes line the long tables and decorations were set set up. It had been a long time since the place was as lively as this. Soon everything was in place and doors were opened for a warm welcome. It wasn't grand but the long table full of delicious food made the eyes of the children open in joy and their mouths water.

They were followed by the priests and nuns as well as Sister Leia and Sister Liz. They sat on the tables that surrounded the dance floor. After a few ceremonies they all munched on their foods like it was the first time they had tasted such.

After the eating, everyone was invited to dance to the music. The dance floor was then filled by the children jumping up and down with big smiles on their faces. The whole dining hall was filled with laughter and music. It was such a joyous occasion.

After an hour of dancing and laughter the host called Sister Liz for some words.

"This supper had been a very happy supper for me and I could say it is as well for the children. I know a lot of you asked why such grand supper was held." she said as she looked around the hall.

"This is a celebration for the birth of a new peaceful orphanage."

"It is also a celebration for a family member as she leave and venture outside of our walls." she said as she looked at Sera. "Cheers." she continued as she raised her glass of wine. Soon the nuns and priests did the same while the children raised their glass of milk as well. "Cheers!" everyone responded in chorus.

The next day. Sera woke up early and headed to the kitchen after fixing up. She started to bring out ingredients from the refrigerator and started cooking. In a few minutes a normal breakfast of fried rice and vegetable omelet was set creatively on a plate. Soon she made a cup of coffee and headed to Sister Liz's room.

tok. tok. tok.

Sister Liz opened the door with a confused gaze on who would come knocking very early in the morning. Her eyes opened wide then curved down as her lips curved upwards when she saw that it was Sera holding a tray of breakfast.

"Come in." she said as she open the door fully letting Sera enter.

"I brought you breakfast." Sera said as she entered the room.

Sister Liz looked at her and grinned "Why are you spoiling me now when you're going later already. Are you guilty for leaving me?"

Sera pulled her gaze from her and looked at the window. "It's my thank you for taking good care of me and my way of saying you don't have to worry about me, Old Sis." she said and looked at Sister Liz, her eyes full of confidence.

Sister Liz sighed like a burden was lifted from her heart. "You sure are persuasive." she said and started to munch of the food Sera had cooked. She ate delightfully even when the food Sera cooked was salty and the coffee she made bitter. It was the first time someone had cooked for her and she didn't want to ruin the mood.

--------------

The sun had risen and everyone went about their daily chores, except for Sera's close friends and 'family' in the orphanage. The children, along with Sister Leia and Sister Liz stood at the entrance of the orphanage while the Stedores, Agaven and Rhael, stood with Sera as they wait for her saying her goodbyes.

"I hate to say this Sera but we have to go." Rhael said slowly not wanting to hurt Sera's feelings in anyway.

Sera nodded and looked at Sister Liz "Goodbye Old Sis, I will visit you often." she said as she pressed Sister Liz's hands and soon let go of it. She walked towards the Stedore's and rode the car. Sister Liz pressed her hands to her heart, and softly whispered, "take care, my little sister.", as the car disappeared into the distance.
