9 The Black Room

No one has actually ever entered the real Black Room. The nuns and priests had only heard of it from stories. Back in ancient times it was a special room located on top of an active volcano. Once put inside you would really be burned alive. Not only that but depending on your sin there would be additional punishments as you get burned alive. According to what have been passed to them the Black Room is like real life hell. Due to the advancement of technology and the presence of magic it was much easier to make a black room without the need of an active volcano. But that doesn't make it less scary.

The hooded figures escorted the nuns and priests who were chained together going to the black room. Those who were in chains were dead silent and all trembling in fear.

"We're here." Sister Leia said. "You will all get different punishments depending on how grave your sins are. Please use this time to repent on your sins." she continued.

Father Sev's lips quivered. 'Repent? that is if we come out alive' he thought. Just a while ago he was thinking of a way on how he could avenge himself but Sister Liz didn't even give him a chance.

They were guided along a narrow corridor until they saw at the far end, an elevator. The hooded figures goaded them into the elevator unchained them. The hooded figures locked the doors shut, cramming the nuns and priests who were consumed by the thought of having to suffer. They were the only ones in the elevator now as it slowly made its descent. Sister Leia held a tablet and she's the one controlling it at the moment.

Soon the elevator came to a stop and the doors opened. Those inside were all told to move out into a large room. The nuns and priests were startled. As soon as the doors opened they felt a surge of heat embracing them. Their skins started to have a tingling feeling that soon felt like they were burning non-stop. They started to rub their skins hoping to ease the burning sensation but failed, as it only made their skin feel the heat twice as hot as it was. They started to push each other off the elevator hoping to have some air, most of them suffocated with the searing heat around them. Once all of them were out, the elevator door shut and quickly moved out of their reach. When they saw this they panicked and tried to grab at the doors but it was too late. There is no turning back. Realizing this, some of them closed their eyes and tried to relax their bodies. For a while it gave them breathing time. Some of them walked around the room to see if there's somewhere they could hide to, get away from the heat.

Just as Father Sev decided to go back to the group he noticed a number of big cubes made of glass about 3x3 meters, names written on each cube. Thinking that the people above would not be so evil to not give them any help, he started his way in the room. He opened the cube to see if there's something in it. There was nothing unusual so he entered without hesitations. The moment he entered, the burning sensation started to ease. 'I found it, haha! I won't tell the others so they would suffer a lot more! It's there fault they didn't follow me!' he thought. Slowly he felt relieved so he closed the door and sat on the floor."

-------------------------------

"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!"

The others still meditating near the elevator stop and those walking around were startled when they heard Father Sev's terrifying shout. They all stood and ran to the direction of the shout. Upon reaching it, however, their worry turned into angry irritation. They saw Father Sev inside a glass tube, sitting calmly in an Indian position, hands closed, and resting on his knees, as if he wasn't here to be punished but to relax. Seeing Father Sev wasn't in any kind of pain they looked for the other glass cubes and happily jumped into the cubes with their names. They felt relieved and just like Father Sev, they all instantly closed their own cubes. It was already too late when they all realized it was a trap. The cubes are where the real punishments begin.

--------------------------------------

As soon as Father Sev shut the door, the door clicked into a lock. Startled, he tried pushing the door. Even with all his might as he used his body as a boulder, the glass door won't even budge. Panic slowly rising, he tried to break the glass open but to no avail. He was still trying when a voice echoed in the cube "What are your sins? Repent and you shall be forgiven." Father Sev, panicking, shouted back in irritation, "What are you talking about? I'm a priest! Other people should tell me what their sins are!"

"What are your sins? Repent and you shall be forgiven." the voice repeated.

"Shut up and open this door!" Father Sev infuriated.

"What are your sins? Repent and you shall be forgiven." the voice repeated.

Realizing it's an automated voice, Father Sev didn't reply and looked around the cube. It was empty. It was only a sturdy block locking him in from the outside. He thought for a while and tried to console himself, "Well, this is better than staying outside."

"hssss. hsss. hsss."

Father Sev jumped, startled at the sound. He turned around and saw a big snake. Big enough it could swallow him whole. Frightened as he was, he stood frozen afraid that a little movement might antagonize the snake and eat him alive. The snake continued crawling until it was only a meter away from Father Sev. Its head slowly rose up and leveled its eyes to Father Sev's. "Hssssss!" Father Sev felt his knees grow weak but he did not falter. He didn't dare. He stood his ground, never moving an inch. The staredown felt like an eternity, until

"What are your sins? Repent and you shall be forgiven." the automated voice blared for the third time. It was so sudden and loud that it made Father Sev jumped up in fright. "AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!"

The moment his voice came out from his mouth, the snake rushed in and coiled its body to Father Sev holding the trembling priest in place. Slowly the snake tightened its hold crushing the breath out of Father Sev. He was suffocating. Accepting his fate, he began to close his eyes when he saw a group of people walking towards the cubes. It was the other nuns and priests. He saw their faces turn from worry to anger and irritation as they looked into his cube. He didn't understand their reaction, but still wanted to warn them. "NO! Don't come in!" squeaking as the snake tightened its grip. He thought if all of them entered the other cubes, no one would open the door for him outside. Even as he was trying to wrestle himself away from the snake, the others don't seem to notice his struggle. Instead, they headed into each one of the cubes with their own names. He saw all of them entered without hesitations just like he did. With that he felt his soul leaving his body.
