4 I Found You A Family

When Sister Liz came out of the conference room she went directly to her office to tell Sera about the good news. She was happy for Sera. It is hard for her to let go of the only family she treated in the orphanage, but it was also fulfilling at the same time that she would be able to keep her promise.

tok. tok. tok.

She knocked on the door but no one came out. She was flustered at first thinking something might have happened while she was gone. She took her keys out and opened the door. It was only then that she heaved a sigh of relief. She saw Sera sleeping peacefully on the sofa. She closed the door silently not to disturb her.

Sister Liz can't wait to tell her the news but she also couldn't afford to wake her up knowing Sera had so much in her mind that it is tiring her mentally. She needed rest. So she went on her desk, sat down and looked thru Sera's papers for the adoption.

----------------------

Sera was woken by the sound of the rain. She rubbed her eyes and looked at the glass door going to the balcony to see. It was raining strongly. The rain drops keeps getting bigger and harsher as it reaches the ground. She was watching it like she was in a trance never even blinking her eyes. Sister Liz saw this and went up to her, speaking softly,

"You're up."

Sera blinked continuously realizing she has been staring out the glass door for too long.

"Ah, yes." she mumbled and looked at Sister Liz.

"I'm sorry I slept for too long." Sera replied. Sister Liz smiled,

"It's okay, little sister. You can sleep more if you want."

Sera smiled back and looked out at the glass door once more before moving to the sofa. Sister Liz stood up holding a folder and walked up to Sera. She sat down and gave the folder to the young girl. Sera looked at the folder then to Sister Liz then looked at the folder again before taking it.

"What's this?" she asked.

"I'm giving you away as promised." Sister Liz replied.

Sister Liz smiled and it was only then Sera realized and she smiled as well.

"I think I found a suitable family for you. Are you happy?" Sister Liz asked.

Sera nodded, her eyes sparkling in happiness but the smile slowly turned into confusion.

"What is it? I thought you're happy." Sister Liz asked again.

"Can't you come with me? I will be a very good sister."

Sister Liz smiled, thought of the words she's going to say and looked at her.

"This is my place. If I leave with you how about the other children staying here. You know very well what the children here are going through. As much as I want to continue protecting you I can't leave the other children under the care of the people here." She replied softly and carefully.

Sister Liz had thought about this as well but it was too much of a sacrifice. She couldn't bear to see these children being abused by those they should be leaning on to.

Sera looked at the beautiful and caring woman in front of her. She admired her for this. She was a righteous woman who fights for what she believes in.

'This is what I should become in the future' she said in her mind.

"Don't worry I will visit you often and if you have time as well you can always visit me here." Sister Liz said reassuringly. Sera nodded in response.

"Okay, go and call the other children to the dining hall it's nearly time for supper."

"Yes old sis." Sera stood and walked out the door.

tok. tok. tok. as soon as Sera went out a knock was heard.

"Who is it?" Sister Liz asked.

"Sister Liz, this is Sister Leia. I have something to report."

"Come in."

Sister Leai walked in and sat in front of Sister Liz.

"Is this about Sera's adoption?" Sister Liz asked

"I tried to investigate about the Stedore Family but they seem to be very discreet in keeping any loopholes." Sister Leia answered.

Sister Liz stayed silent thinking about it and why she felt off about this family.

Sensing her silence Sister Leia continued,

"I came to report another matter. I was on my way here and one of the nuns reported a matter she witnessed as she was doing here rounds this afternoon."

And sister Leia reported the matter about Father Sev and Sister Min's indecent act. Sister Liz sneered in disgust. She looked at Sister Leia,

"I'll be making some changes in our sect very soon. Make sure to do the preparations. Do it discreetly."

"Yes Sister Liz." Sister Leia understood.

"Let's go to the dining hall now." Both of them stood up and went to eat.
