10 Chapter 10: Lucia's Power/Upward we go

Zonan woke up from his nap worried about Lucia. He felt Lucia head to see if it was feverish. "Crap. It looks like he has a slight fever. Other than that he looks ok."

(Inside Lucia's head.)

"Annabeth? Are you here?" I said. Then a familiar voice that wasn't her said, "I'm sorry. She isn't here. I am going to be the one to help you." Said a man. "Aiden? Is that you?" "Yes it is." "Come here Lucia. Come sit next to me." So I sat next to Aiden and wondered why he was helping me. "Hey Aiden? Why are you helping me? Why are you even in the palace? You said you weren't allowed to back 10 years ago. What about Ten Ten?" "Woah slow down Lucia. Once question at a time." I will answer the one for now about why I am here helping you and the palace. For now. I will answer the others after." "I am actually married to the mistress. We have two kids. She is out with them as of now. She told me how to help you. OK now. As I am sure she told your sister when you wake up you will have a power. As for the power, no one knows exactly. The powers are mostly elemental. Your cousin Zee had fire and your sister had lightning. You could also have a power that is not elemental as well. Don't be disappointed at what power you end up with. You always get a power that comes in handy on the Quest. As for your powers after the Quest, they will weaken since you won't really need to use them anymore but you will have them the rest of your life. Unless they are like your sisters when it did the opposite. We were really worried it would be bad. Good thing it didn't get any stronger than it did back then. That would be dangerous. Last thing. You need to be calm when you wake up. Maybe practice on times that you rest would be best." "Alright. Well ever since I got back, I pretty much have been excited about everything. I will try to be calm Aiden." "Good. As for your last Question. Ten Ten isn't here anymore. She died about two years ago." "No. What happened?" "Your sister was there when it happened I wasn't. (Outside of Lucia's head.)

Everyone was getting anxious about Lucia still being asleep. Smoker was about to get help when Lucia was starting to wake. "Hmm. Ha...Ha.." "Hey kid. You ok?" "Yeah I think so." I said in a weak tone just from getting up. "Hey is there an open field somewhere for a second before we go?" "Its not a field, but its an open space." Said Smoker. "OK lets go there for a second. I want to see what kid of power I ended up with."

The Open space wasn't far from the cave. The others kept a safe distance just in case. I took a deep breath and exhaled. I closed my eyes and focused on my hands. Then when I knew I was ready, I aimed at some boulders. I shot out Ice. 'Well it wasn't what I expected, but it will do. Its cool too I guess.' I said in my head. The others saw as well and Smoker said, "Pretty cool kid. Looks like you got some icy blue ice." "Yeah. OK we should start heading up now." I said. Everyone caught up to me and headed the way we came and started heading up the hill.

As we were heading up, I was worried about the sword and my dagger. I took the sword off my back and took it out of its sheath. I looked at the black blade with the blue writing and the blue hilt with the gem in it. I had to stop to do all this. The others noticed I stopped as well and saw what I was doing. "Hey Lucia. What are you doing?" said Zonan. "Sorry uncle. We have been walking awhile and I wanted to look at the sword." "OK we will stop here until Lucia is ready." Said Zonan. "Sorry guys." I said. Smoker saw Lucia in thought. "Hey kid. You thinking about what the writing says?" "Yeah I am. The elder who gave me this said I would know what it means when the time is right. I don't even know what language its in." "I don't speak it." Said Smoker. "But I can tell you what language its in." "Ok. What language is it? I have never seen this kind of writing before." "You wouldn't. Its a lost language. Very few can read or write it anymore. Its the language of the Xadian's" "Who are they?" "I'm sure the old man we see can tell you more. I don't know much about them." I put the sword back, and took out my dagger that Master had given me. Smoker saw Lucia truly still had the dagger he gave him. "Hey kid. I hope you didn't have to use that yet." "Well no actually. I may have if they didn't retreat. The ones who kidnapped me came back when I was at Keelo's. They wanted to fight me. Once I pulled out the dagger they said they would be back the same time next year and retreated. Just what is this dagger?" "That dagger is one of a kind. It can do quite a few things. I only know of 2. It can break certain curses and kill." "So that is why the woman was afraid of it." "The woman you speak of. I may know her. She was a childhood friend. When she was kidnapped, she came back after 1 year. We found out later, her body was cursed in many ways. Once I told her what the dagger could do, she ran away from home." "I don't think she means any harm for anyone. She only cursed your mom thinking it was you because she wasn't in her right mind. I think if you were able to help her, she would be her normal self." "Maybe on the way back home and we see her again. I can help her. Now that you said something, I have an idea if I see them again. You will find out later. We should head up now." I put the dagger back in my bag and we headed up the mountain some more."

We were headed up that mountain again. "Hey how long do we have until we get there anyway?" I asked. "Well without the dangers about a week. With dangers it will be more." said Smoker. "Man. This sucks." I said. "Well I guess I can't complain. My sisters Quest seemed like it was a little longer getting there. I am surprised we barely made it back in a year. It was about 2 months before the new year. So it almost took 2 years." "Dang. That long?" Said Archer. "Yeah. I remember it was a pain in the butt." " I may have been 5 or 6, but a quest like that no one forgets. I myself got hurt on the quest a couple times. None that would be life threatening though. The worst I got was a sprained arm because a freaking 2 headed lizard dropped me on the ground." "Haha. Are you serious kid?" "Yeah I am. The person who got the worst out of the injuries was my sister Neve. She came close to dying I lost count how many times. Aries did what he could. Aries is my sisters husband my brother in law. They have twins. Keno a girl and Zain a boy. They are 3 I think she said." "Well glad that your sister is alive and well." Said Smoker. "Yeah. Me too." It had been awhile walking so we decided to rest.

It was around noon when we rested to have something to eat. I looked in my bag to see what I had. Looks like some crackers protein bars and bread. I think I will just have the protein bar. Save the others for last. After I ate I told everyone I was going to practice my power. "Hey uncle. I'm going to practice my power somewhere." "Ok don't wander too far." "I won't." So I went far enough away I can still see them. I practiced shooting my ice powers at boulders. It had finally been an hour, so I headed back to the others.

"Hey everyone. I'm back. Come see what I did. I made something cool." As we were heading over, I felt a sharp pain in my right arm for a second. "Ah." I said it quiet enough so no one heard. Or so I thought. "You ok kid?" Said smoker. " I can hear the slightest sounds." "Yeah I will be. Don't worry about it." "Ok then. Lets go." "Here we are guys. See the cool thing I made?" I had made the symbol of the Mistress' kingdom. "Yeah that is pretty cool. What is it?" said Zonan. "Oh I don't know if you guys know about Mistress Annabeth, but this is the sign of the palace. I know I need some work, but its supposed to be a phoenix rising out of the ashes." "Did you just say Annabeth?" Said Smoker. "Yeah why?" "That's not possible. She died years ago. Or so I thought." "She was alive and well when Neve went over there 10 years ago." "So its true. She's alive." "Yeah. You know her?" "Know her? She is my sister. I ended up the way I did because I thought it was my fault she died. Where does she live now?" "Oh remember the quest my sister went on? Its passed the dragon cave and a little farther. She is married to my cousin Aiden and they have a couple of kids." "Oh really?" "Yeah. I found that out when I got my powers." "Maybe when we get back, you can head over there." "I will think about it. I may stay at an inn in your village for a few days." "That's fine."
