Chapter Five

The moment Literature class ended, I scurried out. My idea was to leave Lit class and head straight to Physics. I said a hasty good bye to Hermione and Dustin.

Just as I was about to run for my life, I was stopped by someone. A black someone.

"Hey Tracy." he called. I closed my eyes then opened it to look at him.

"Yes Meyer?"

"The name is Fred. Meyer makes me look like my dad." he said.

"Fine, Fred. Is there anything I can do for you?" I asked turning away and already walking to my next class. Before I knew it, Fred was right behind me.

"Yeah. You see, since I'm new in this class and all, I was wondering if you could tutor me. Give me pointers and all that." he said.

"Why can't someone else help? Or even better, the teacher?"

"They are boring."

"And I'm interesting?"

"Don't know. I wanted to test you first."

"And you can't test the other people?"

"Look Tracy, if you don't want to tutor me, just say so."

I turned and looked him straight into his brown eyes.

"I don't want to tutor you."

He looked at me like I just said I was the first woman who walked on the moon.

"Great. So I'll see you after school."

Wait....!!!

What????

When did I agree to tutor him?

Oh yeah, I never did.

I got to my next class, Chemistry, just in time. You know, I blame Fred.

After he told me we would meet after school, I stood in the hallway like I was Iron Man. I was just staring at his stupid black back (still not racist), and conjuring up ways to murder him with just my eyes.

I didn't even know when 4 minutes passed. After I realized myself, I hurried to my locker to grab my textbook and ran straight to the Chemistry lab.

"Good morning class." Our teacher, Mr Davis, said the moment the bell rang.

"Good morning Mr Davis." We greeted.

"Last year, I remember I allowed you all to sit in any chair of your choice and pick your partner for that year. Am I correct?"

"Yes sir."

"Good. So this year, we are changing it. I am going to be one to pick your seats and give you all your partner"

With that, the entire class groaned. Including me.

"I know, I know. You love to pick your partner but I decided to pick for you when I found out Shawn Michaels and Juliana Beeta were having a more me time than chem time."

The entire male population in the class hooted at Shawn.

"So I am picking for you. Infact, I have already arranged your partners," he said opening his bag and bringing out a foolscalp sheet.

"Guliana Kimber and Taylor Fester"

The two girl stood up from their different seats and went to pick a table but Mr Davis stopped them just in time. "No. You seat on the first seat. Left, right, middle, your choice."

They groaned and went to the left front seat.

"Thank you. Now will Hannah Joyce and Shawn Michaels go to the middle front seat?"

Hannah, a small girl with glasses with lens so thick, a chain saw can't cut it and the popular Shawn moved to the front seat.

"That way, I can watch you with my eagle eyes." Mr Davis said earning stifled laughs from the students. "Declan Gune and Rayold Matthews"

In the end, the class were paired with their partners, except me.

"Excuse me sir." I called.

The entire class turned their backs to look at me, including Mr Davis.

Great. What a way to start first Chem class.

"Yes Tracy?"

"I don't have a seat partner."

"You don't?"

"Yes sir. I don't."

"That is not right. I could have sworn I-" then he stopped as he checked the attendance where he wrote our names and partners. "Oh, I paired you with a new student."

"Which new student Mr Davis?" Guliana asked with interest, that the entire class, in her voice.

"Clark Colin."

As if on cue, the door opened and in entered a brown haired boy. The girls melted at their tables and the boys adjusted their clothes and puffed their chests.

I just stared. He's not that cute. Or hot.

He looked at a girl and winked making the girl melt. Literally.

Okay, maybe he is.

"Good morning Mr Clark." The teacher said. Clark faced him and gave him a mocking bow.

"Good morning Uncle Steve. Sorry I kept you waiting at home. It won't happen again. Not that I promise, but it won't." he said.

Mr Davis rolled his eyes and pointed at my seat.

He turned back and looked at where Mr Davis pointed at. Which is me.

"Thanks uncle." he said winking at Mr Davis and walking to my table.

"It's Mr Davis here."

I can already see the popularity of Mr Davis increase. Not that he needs any.

Clark gave him the 'whatever' hand before sitting on the chair beside me.

"Great. We all have partners. Shall we start?"

We all nodded and Mr Davis faced the board and wrote 'IUPAC and their Nomenclature for Organic Compounds' on the board.

He was telling us and writing on the board the Alk- family when I felt a nudge beside me.

"Hey." I heard a whisper.

I didn't answer. I did not want to miss the calculations for the Alk- family.

He stopped the nudging but minutes after I thought he was listening to his uncle, he nudged me again. Only this time, it was harder than the other.

I gave a huge sigh and looked at him then plastered a smile on my face.

"Okay, that smile is as fake as Allison's face," he said. "Give me a real one."

I just stared at him still giving him my plastered smile.

"Okay, the smile is giving me the creeps. I'm guessing you hate Allison?"

"Maybe." I muttered.

"She speaks!" he exclaimed raising his hands up to the sky causing the entire class to look at him.

Mr Davis dropped the chalk he was holding and looked at our table.

"Who speaks Mr Colin?"

"Uh, my talking Angela." he quickly said.

The entire class, we, looked at him with a raised eyebrow. Except maybe me and some guys that just looked at him. Well, I raised my two eyebrows because I can't raise an eyebrow.

"Your talking Angela?" Declan asked.

"Yes whatever your name is."

"It's Declan Gune." Declan said.

"Okay Geclan Dune." Clark said.

"And what did your talking Angela say that you gave that exclamation?"

"Uh, she said that I have a cute butt?" Clark said making it sound more like a question than a statement.

Mr Davis rolled his eyes and pointed his chalk at Clark.

"Whatever. But if I hear one more exclamation from you again, it is detention here and at home."

"Yeah sure. Totally."

"And please don't disturb Miss Bouts." The teacher added before facing the board again.

While I can see the popularity status of Mr Davis shooting to the sky, I can see mine plummeting to the ground.

With that already in my head, I banged my forehead, softly, on the table.
