Go in Peace, Amen

Bells tolled as Sunday service ended. Reverend Everett was at the doors of his parish shaking hands. His wife stood beside him, smiling and shaking hands too. It was seemingly just another Sunday on the rule outskirts of Marawa.

Marawa was a massive corporation city. Formed from the ruins of two cities, this massive city was far too big for Reverend Everett's sermon to reach everyone. The Pisces Key Venture Corporation had been cranking out new VR chips. New ways to get lost, stray from the so called path of righteousness.

Reverend Everett made his way back to the pulpit, and took a deep breath. It is time for communion. Please make your way to a seat and kneel. An organ began to play the music loudly as congregation members took their seats. However, a large squealing of tires came from outside and in walked a mafia boss and his goons.

One goon opened fire at the ceiling. Greeting Father. Go ahead and pass the plate our way. We'd like to make a donation. Reverend Everett nodded and walked the collections plates to them. The Boss grinned and smirked, Nice doing business with ya.

The Goons opened fire into the congregation, kill everyone except Reverend Everett, who was left on his knees, in shock as his floors were stained crimson red.

As dusk fell, red and blue corporate police lights were around the church.

Sorry Father, the Melaney Gang isn't gonna be prosecuted. They own the courts. Your best bet, pack your things, move, and thank the lord you are still alive.

Reverend Everett looked at the ground and held the medical blanket around him. Everyone was dead... Everyone was gone and they would do nothing about it. After the police had left, Everett went inside and began ripping up the stained carpets. As he did, the mail slot opened and a single letter fell in. He stood up and unsealed the letter.

Sucks not being able to do anything.... Why do you do something?

The Reverend went to the basement and unlocked a big safe, revealing a dragons breath shotgun. As he made his way back up stairs, he kneeled before the alter and spoke.... Father in Heaven, forgive me... because of what I am about to do, was not ordained by the church nor by your word. He racked a slug into the chamber and slammed to doors to the church. He hopped into the church van and sped into the city.

As the street lights became brighter and brighter, the more it seemed the Gang would slip through his fingers. However, he arrived at a dingy old bar where one of the guards who'd participated in the execution, was smoking outside.

The Reverend exited the van and wrapped his stole around his hands and choked out their first guy. Once he was out, Everett made sure to snap his neck instantly. Entering the bar, he killed the power, making sure nobody would see him.

Nicky! The fuck is going on! If this is one of those pranks I'll kick your ass!

I'm afraid Nicky went home to meet the good lord.

What the fuck... Who is that?

For God has forgiven you of all your sins..... But I haven't.

Several loud blasts and screams were heard from the bar, then an eerie silence fell upon them. Sirens rang out in the distance as the Reverend shut the doors to the parish and turned out the lights.
