19 The Tree of Whispers 8.2

Sensing mana for the first time is hard. Being able to cast a spell, and understanding how the mana work in the process, is two completely different things.

I try to sense the mana around me several times. I feel that something surrounds me, but I couldn't grasp it, I couldn't see it. (Hm?) I open my eyes because I hear something strange. I turn around, to see that the saint had disappeared.

(Clever girl... Tsk.) I close my eyes again. It doesn't matter if she escapes, I will catch up with her later. The mana mist that remained where the saintess was give me a strange, but nostalgic feeling. (No way...) I get closer to the mist. 'How do you feel, my son?' A voice that I long wanted to hear, my mother's voice.

The image of her was in front of me. White skin, dark black hair with a ponytail, and the same eyes as me: A purple iris with stars on the pupil. She was wearing a beige color dress with a dark purple coat. I couldn't see her waist and below.

I smile and babble something unintelligible. ('This is the first time that I can see you with my own eyes. As for my wellbeing, I'm perfectly fine. It's just this body, which is a little... frail.')

'Good to know. As for your body, I can age you up if you want to.' ('Please do! How many years?') 'Up to seven years. If I use too much power, the others will know.' ('Then seven years it is.') We laugh together. She was seemingly happy.

She waves her hand and the room turn black. 'We're separated from the world. I'm sorry, it might hurt.' I sit on the ground. ('No problem. If pain means that I won't be a baby anymore, I'm fine with it.')

Her face twitched. 'You might be fine, but I'm not. I don't want you to suffer. Never... It really pains me that you can't live with me in the Realm... My only son, in a mortal world...' She is on the verge of crying. ('Don't worry, in no time we'll be together.') She forced a smile, trying to comfort herself, but her eyes...

'I can think of a way that you won't suffer, however, I will need to put you to sleep. When you wake up, I won't be here anymore. I'm sorry.' I laid my back on the floor, with my belly looking upwards. ('I don't like when you apologize. What needs to happen will happen, even gods can't change the course of life.')

She smiled and laughed. 'So young, but so wise...' She dries the tears in the corner of her eyes and straightens her back. 'I'm ready. Now it's up to you. If you want, we can chat more...' I made a serious face. ('You say that I'm young, but I'm older than this planet. I'm ready.') She nods and I pass out.

...

'Do you remember?' (I'm dreaming... Hehe it does feel strange.) 'Remember what they have done?' (No I don't. Who are you?) 'Remember the battlefield? The smell?' (No...?) 'Remember the pain, the hatred?' (Why should I?) 'You will remember Kali. The story is fated to repeat, over and over again.' (Kali? I'm Kall Sol, not Kali.) 'Remember the past... When you do, Kali, the sins committed by those that are above, will be known, and you will...' (I will...? Forget it. I'm not Kali. I'm Kall Sol!) 'You will remember, and the sins will be known... Never forget who you are, Kali.' (Are you stupid? I'm Kall Sol! K-a-l-l, no Kali!) 'Never forget...'

*SWOOSH*

The sound of the wind blowing wakes me up. I slowly open my eyes. (Ugh... Everything hurts.) I was in complete darkness. The sounds of leaves moving with the wind is what I hear. (I'm not inside the tree... One problem less.) I try to move, and I scream in pain. (I'll just... stay here for a while...)
