95 Moving To The Future

Gordan who had spent the majority of the day tirelessly fixing up the village through various means, finnaly sat down to observe his work from the stairs with the cat creature curled up in his lap purring quietly.

"I wonder why you purr like that, I mean you aren't actually a cat or anything, so why the purring?"

He asked the question more to himself than anything, in response the cat creature looked up at him with big unblinking eyes and just stared at him for a minute.

"I'm part cat, thanks to the rather roaming nature of my father I don't really know anything more than that. It's one of the reasons that the guardians didn't retaliate and instead pulled back away from the populous. If I had been a pure blood then things would have been much different."

Gordon frowned slightly and suddenly rubbed the cat creatures head while watching his expression carefully.

In turn the cat creature looked into Gordon's eyes and could see a great sadness which had long been suppressed by the curse which he had now been freed from. The cat creature felt a flood of memories coming back into his head. He had lived long before the war had begun and delt with many situations to reach where he was now, but still he didn't resent any of the other guardians who had not lifted a finger to help him in his time of need. The lack of resentment was partially due to the fact that it had been an enraged Gordan who had done the deed, and if any of the guardians had tried to do anything they would have been brutally murdered, or seriously injured to the brink of death. The cat creature suddenly closed its eyes and stretched out its limbs before readjusting to a more comfortable position.

"Man I wish I had something to drink right about now, I mean with the moon out like this, it's the perfect night for it after all..."

The guardian lamented the lack of alcohol and slowly opened his eyes to look toward the bright moon which was shining down on them.

"I think that you might soon have your wish fulfilled."

The cat creature lifted up his head and turned it sharply around as he caught the sent of some rather high class alchohol which Gordan was holding in one of his hands. His ears instantly went up and a smile quickly formed on his feline face.

"When did you pick that up? No, more importantly, why did you not bring it out sooner, I haven't had alcohol in years."

The anger in Gordan's eyes slowly faded as he witnessed the former guardian's expression and he pulled put three bowls for the alchohol.

"I found them on one of the ships that we took out, and I waited to tell you because I was waiting for the last one to finnaly get here. After all isn't it best to drink when you are with more friends?"

The former guardian stood up and looked around for a second before catching the figure standing at the entrance of the village staring at them in shock.

"When did he show up? I guess I really am to weak, I should probably be more frustrated about that but to be honest all I really care about this minute is the alchohol. Hey kid, get over here so we can start drinking."

Bjorn looked up at the cat creature in shock but nevertheless began walking toward the two of them. He didn't really remember much of what happened that night but in the morning he had somehow ended up in a clean bed with a new change of clothing. When he finished collecting his thoughts he sat up and clutched his head which felt like it was being split open from the inside. The air still had the lingering scent of alchohol which made him feel rather sick, still he decided to move forward and try to find out where the other two had ended up.

Walking out of the house in which he had woken up, Bjorn looked around to find that he was at the base of the stairs leading up to the temple. He had the feeling that if the two of them were anywhere then that would be the place, since it was the guardian's residence. Looking down at the contract on his hand he began walking up the petal covered stairs while thinking about all of the things that he had seen in such a small amount of time. Reaching the top of the stairs he found the two of them still drinking like there was no tomorrow. The cat creature was half sitting in the guardians lap while draping his head down to the bowl with his share of alchohol, and the guardian was sitting cross legged on the ground taking sips from his own bowel while watching the leaves fall to the ground. At first Bjorn thought that they were out of it, but as he got closer to the two of them the guardian's eyes turned toward him filled with a strange calmness that spoke for the state of his mind.

"It would take a lot more alchohol than this to make me go tipsy. I tried it once you know, but unfortunately the bar ran out of alchohol leaving me with no choice but to go home and continue on with my day."

The guardian seemed to be talking to the cat creature but Bjorn had the feeling that he was just saying whatever was on his mind, to fill the silence.

"Well, I hope that one day you can experience the crushing defeat of getting drunk one day, but for now I think that we should probably take care of the kid don't you?"

Bjorn jerked back at this statement as if he had been woken from a type of trance. He watched as the guardian pulled a strange object out of thin air and tossed it in his direction.

"Place one end in the ground and light the other end with a bit of fire, after that all you have to do is sit back and breathe in some of the smoke, it should fix the headache issue. Come back and tell me if you need any more."

With that said the guardian went back to sipping on his alchohol while still keeping an eye on Bjorn to see that he followed the instructions with a slightly intrigued look in his eyes, as though he wasn't quite sure what it would do to Bjorn which made him a little nervous, but he still carefully did the things that he was instructed and within a minute his headache had completely disappeared leaving him with a very pleasant feeling which he had never experienced in the past.

"Wow, that was really convenient, my headache dissapeared instantly. What manner of object is this?"

The guardian rapped one of his clawed fingers against the ground and looked vacantly into the air infront of him for a moment without saying anything, as though he was trying to remember something. While he was doing so the cat creature in his lap walked over to the place where Bjorn had placed the object in the ground, it sniffed in the smoke and yawned.

"You're right, that does do the trick, but I can't help but feel that there has to be a better way to use them. Has the alchohol finnaly gotten to you?"

The cat creature spoke in a very relaxed manner as it walked back over to its seat and looked up at the guardian quizzically.

"Cinders, sorry I didn't respond earlier but watching others use it made me wonder about something."

The guardian pulled another cinder out and lit the end with a spell.

"I guess the real question is how to make it more portable."

The cinder, delicately held between the guardians claws almost seemed natural to Bjorn who took his out of the ground and imitated the posture. A strange idea came to him and he placed one end in his mouth after dusting it off. Oddly enough it felt quite natural and when he breathed he was able to directly inhale the smoke which made him feel like all of the mental fatigue he had felt within the past week had washed away. He had a satisfied expression on his face as he looked over at the two infront of him. He was shocked by their expressions which seemed to be questioning his train of thought, which made him laught out loud. If nothing else the next five years should be quite interesting.
