2 The New Girl

Samantha Samantha Sam...

"Luis!", mrs colback shouted plugging me back to reality.

"Yes ma'am", I replied.

"Would you mind telling the rest of the class what I just said", She asked tapping her feet on the floor with her arms folded.

"Uhh Electrical thermal underwear", I said trying to make sense out of the different words on the board while everyone laughed at me.

"That's very funny Luis, but you can't take advantage of your status in the school and mess around during classes", Ms colback said with a grin.

"I'm sorry ma'am", I replied gazing at the new girl beside me.

She was very quiet though and had a very mysterious aura and personality, maybe it's because it's her first day I think.

"Umm hey", I said to her with the warmest smile I could display (not much of a smiler though).

"Hi", she replied but didn't look at me.

"Ok hold up I know I am not the best at talking to people but I made an attempt for the first time in months to talk to someone I just met and this is what I get ,c'mon give me something to work with", I said in my mind.

"Ok so when did you move here, cause I'm guessing you've not been around here for long", I asked.

"Two weeks ago", she replied still not looking at me.

"Oh two weeks that's nice I'm also guessing you're not too familiar around here", I asked her back.

"Obviously", she said this time turning towards me... finally.

"Ok maybe I can show you around sometime" , I said smiling harder.

This time she turned looked me in the eyes and said, "What do YOU possibly want to show me that you think I haven't seen before."

Right there just right there I was officially stuck. There was a very long awkward silence between us and what made it even worse was the fact that she was still staring at me, glaring right into my eyes.

"Umm I can show you the new power core station they just built, I bet you've never seen that", I said trying to smirk but my face was already aching.

"I guess I haven't seen that, besides that's one of the attractive features in this place... but then again how could you possibly take me to the power core station", she said looking away finally.

"Well it seems you don't know who I am", I said releasing my killer smirk.

"Oh who could you be please, some gangster kid, besides that place is loaded with intense security", she said writing down some things from the board.

"Gangster kid! I'm no gangster kid I am the son of the very person who built the core station", I replied trying to jot down a few things as well.

"Oh yeah you are", she said rolling her eyes. "Look I'll prove it to you, meet me at the core station tonight if you're up for a bet",I told her daringly.

"I'm always up for a bet but tonight doesn't seem convenient for me, because you know it's night", she said still writing.

"Oh so you're scared",I said trying to play the psychology trick a little, "I didn't know someone with a brave mouth as yours could be so scared of a little night time awwn".

"Uhh fine but if you lose the bet we are not talking again cause I'm seeing by you are trying very hard to talk to me", She said dropping her pen and looking at me again.

"And if I win then we get to be friends and talk to each other... deal", I said bringing out my hand.

"Deal!", she said shaking mine as the bell rang.

I turned and I spotted Stephen glaring at me and Samantha. "What?", I asked him. "I've never been so proud In my life", he said tearing up."Ok?", I said looking at him puzzled.

Now that school is closed I have to find the access codes to the power core station at home.I took the fastest bus home and there was no traffic at all unlike this morning.

I walked into the house and headed straight for my dad's room. I looked for the tablet that my dad said had the access codes to everything in case there's an emergency. I found the tablet and luckily he had already installed the access codes in there.

Now all I had to do was to pair my facial recognition with the codes.

"Luis, are you home",my mum called, "Get downstairs your food is getting cold."

I ignored but made a loud humming sound that meant I'd be down soon, I couldn't make any mistakes while pairing my facial scan.

Immediately I finished I hurried downstairs to eat my lunch before it was cold. Then I started having a rethink about the very immature thing I was thinking of doing in the night.

It's night it is going to be very dark by then and anything could happen but what am I saying I was the one calling her a scaredy cat about two hours ago and now I am the one acting scared but what if dad finds out, he won't be happy at all, that reminds me I have to call Dad. I called my dad over and over again but he didn't pick.

"Maybe he is in a meeting", I thought to myself, "I'd call him tomorrow."

"Luis!!!!", a very familiar but annoying voice screamed.

"What is it", I replied.

"You are supposed to be getting ready for the 'Cup n shoe' concert tonight", she screamed back.

"Look Brittany I am very tired I'm not sure I can go for your cup and whatever concert", I lied.

I needed to get her of my back if I wanted to see Samantha tonight. She called me a gangster kid and I can never take that.

"But mum said you're going with me and I can't go without an elderly supervision or someone above the age of 15", she insisted.

"Aren't you listening Brit, I am tired I don't feel so good", I blurted back.

"Awwn, are you not feeling too well my boy", my mum said being all lovey as usual.

"Yes mum", I said with a babyish voice.

"Ok go to your room and get some rest and Brittany you can't go to the cup and spoon concert tonight cause your brother isn't feeling well and I can't go myself", mum said.

"But mum..."Brittany tried to speak but was interrupted by mum.

"No buts, you aren't going anywhere", mum said back.

"Ok mum", she shrugged.

Like music to my ears , I felt bad for her but there's no other way it's either. Go to cup n shoe or see the mysterious Samantha tonight.
