A Child's Lie

'Something weird is going on...when I was walking through the light it did appear as the light was getting closer, but still, somehow I felt as if I wasn't making any progress at all...but now there isn't any sign of progress at all it's like I'm walking in place.'

"Hey, how long do you think this will take?"

the boy looks up at you and says.

(I have no idea of knowing but this area isn't that big so not that long.)

For the first time since you two met something catches your eye.

'Wait did he just talk without moving his lips...maybe it's just me I'll ask him a quick question.'

"Hey, was the last time you saw me?"

(hmmm, the last time I saw you were about six years ago, why are you asking so many questions.)

'So they don't, I guess that's just another question I gotta ask him.'

"I don't really remember any of this I'm sorry if this disappoints you."

The child takes a deep breath as a high - begins to emit from the crying child as fiery black tears begin to drip from his eyes.

You hold him close as you cradle him rocking him side to side.

"Hey please don't cry everything will be ok I promise."

(But...but what if you don't remember me yo-you won't visit meeeee!)

His cries grow louder as you wipe the tears from his eyes and placing him down in front of you.

"I will be sure to find out how to visit you so you don't have to worry."

He calms down and wipes his face on his shirt as he tightly holds on to your leg.

"Is that ok with you?"

(Yup!)

He says with a smile as you run your fingers through his hair.

(Mommy...I have something to tell you.)

"Yeah what is it?"

(I lied...I know how you can leave.)
