1 Waking Up, Then Seeing a Baby And A Note From...Yourself?

Opening my eyes, I realized something - I didn't need to open my eyes. It was weird. Instead of making eyelids open, I simply switched on my ability to see. Like a camera being powered on. What I saw surprised me even more than my apparent lack of eyelids:

I was looking at a child. Or more specifically a child-to-be aka a fetus.

Looking around I realized I couldn't see my own body, nor could I see anything else to do with what I would class as 'myself'. I seemed to be a disembodied, floating...something.

Why am I not freaking out? I...don't know, honestly. Something tells me I already knew this was going to happen. That...I'd wanted this to happen. 'Closing' my 'eyes' again, I tried to think back. I remember the last time I had a body, then I remember...dying. Oh. Well, that's weird.

I was stabbed by some psycho who jumped out at me. A knife straight to the chest, and blam, I was out. Or rather, I went into shock and froze up, unable to do anything as the psycho hobo searched my body for any valuables before running off. Getting stabbed isn't like how it is in the media or in novels - it doesn't hurt (because of the shock) but you can't do anything either. There was no 'You bastard!' before I beat him up, called an ambulance and survived. I just froze up and died.

Then I don't remember anything. It was just a blank.

Tch. I really wanna kick something. This is annoying.

But just as I thought that, the child I was once again watching twitched, and it's foot kicked the wall of the womb we were in. If I had eyes, I'd have narrowed them as I thought really hard once again and the fetus kicked again. I did this a few more times, specifying the leg to make sure it wasn't a fluke and I finally came to a conclusion that I was in control of this fetus' motor skills.

And just as that ended, a translucent screen appeared in front of me. Was this a novel or something?

[Heyo! How you doing? Probably pretty confused, right? Well, all you need to know is that you're writing this message, so I'm you and you are me. Got it? I just had to wipe our memories of this so we wouldn't get in trouble. What trouble? Mind breaking stuff, really. Who knew Gods weren't all pretty or handsome, huh? Well, I just met with a pretty Eldritch-looking one, so I had to wipe our memory otherwise we'd have most likely gone insane.

Anyway, like you might have been thinking - this is like a novel! We died, sure, but we also got wishes afterward! Why? The guy(?) who gave them to us wouldn't say. Said something about incomprehensible to a mortal. Anyway, I picked out some pretty good stuff. A pretty good world as well.]

Reading the screen I felt at a loss for words, or thoughts, seeing as I couldn't speak.

So...I was the one writing this message...to my future self? And the reason I don't remember the wishes is because I had to wipe my mind of the images of the Eldritch horror who gave me the wishes?

...God, I suddenly feel like I wanna go to sleep so I can think about this another time.

But before I could, another screen popped up, keeping my attention.

[Okay, the Eldritch thing gave us a few wishes. Specifically three wishes. Why only three? I didn't wanna haggle with a fucking Old One, so give me a break, will ya?

Anyway, first wish; A Bloodborne-related System. Just minus the stats. We'll still get Blood Echoes from killing, but we'll just enhance our bodies as a whole when we use them. Pretty good short-cut, huh? No need to min-max - our physical abilities will rise as one! I also slipped in an addition of a Gacha aspect to the system. Nothing game breaking and only really applying to weapons and some bloodlines, and only of things from Bloodborne.

Second wish; to be put in a place of importance in a world of my choosing. I chose Highschool DxD because there's plenty of fighting opportunities and...well, loads of beautiful girls. We always thought about what it'd be like to have a harem, and now we can actually see what it's like. No doubt worth a lot of trouble, but it seems worth it, right? You could probably already see that I'm trying to cushion a little thing I may have had to concede to the Eldritch God...you may or may not be...Issei's little brother...I know! I should have specified a place of importance that wasn't THAT important but it's not too bad, is it? We'll be able to be the superior brother and all that. Maybe even cuck him a little. Who knows.

Third wish; To be given as much talent as possible when it comes to fighting and killing, while talent concerning the body will be increased just as much. This'll help us with fighting, obviously. But we both know we're not a fighter but we've always wanted to be. This wish will make sure we don't need to become a Devil just to improve our bodies as well. That, plus the Bloodborne System, will allow us to grow however we please.

You can access the system by simply saying 'Status' or 'System'. Either one works. I'd say you should open it now, I left a present for you, my future self.

Well, I guess this is the end of the message. So, see ya.]

Huh.

System.

[Name: N/A}

[Age: Not Born or Fully Developed Yet]

[Race: Human]

[Blood Echoes: 0]

[Powers: N/A]

[Skills: N/A]

[Inventory: 1 Item]

Pretty bland, huh? Well, I did say that there'd be no stats or levels. But seeing the inventory slot, I willed it to open and another screen, but one much shorter than the message written by me for me.

[Do you wish to open the Hunter Starter Pack? Y/N?]

Mentally pressing the 'Y', another screen appeared in front of me.

[Half-Beast (Bloodline), Unnamed Scythe, Scythe Mastery: Unnamed Style (Passive Skill Book), Art of Quickening (Active Skill Book)]

[The changes will be applied now]

I watched with rapt attention as a blob of black blood appeared in front of the fetus' chest before sinking into it. I watched as the flesh and bones and the partially formed organs morphed and twisted, growing and compressing.

Beasts. One of the major enemies for Hunters. Take the Scourge Beast for example aggressive, hard-hitting, relentless, and hardy. Scourge Beasts were once humans who, after being infected by the plague, transformed into these creatures. And that's what's happening to what I assume to be my new body - it's becoming infected with the Old Blood and it's changing. Though it's still human and wouldn't become a full Beast. That much is clear by the fact that the fetus wasn't sprouting out hair and turning into a werewolf-like creature.

If Hunters were known for their agility, dexterity, and reflexes, then Beasts were known for their brute force and explosive speed.

What my new body was becoming, could easily be seen as the perfect balance between the two - the technique of a Hunter and the power of a Beast.

I watched as the fetus grew bigger, yet still looked undeveloped. I took this as my overall size getting bigger now, so when I was fully grown I'd be even bigger. I heard rustling outside of the womb and guessed that my mom must be getting the pain of me growing at an alarming rate inside of her. But before it got dangerous, the fetus stopped growing. Looking over it's slightly translucent skin, I could see that my veins were filled with very, and I do mean very, dark red blood. It was almost black in color.

Though when my blood went to go back to my mom, the blood were clear up and become normal red blood again.

Interesting. I wonder if the system is doing this?

Seeing the changes slowing down, I looked over the fetus and took in it's new appearance.

The skin was maybe a little paler and the body was definitely bigger but other than that...it didn't look too much different. Though I would guess that the changes will begin to show fully when I'm growing up outside of the womb and have been birthed.

Closing my 'eyes' I thought about the other rewards I'd gained, and I couldn't help but sigh. A Scythe? That's the edgiest weapon there is...Why couldn't have been a normal sword? Or even an Axe? I don't know if I was super lucky or if it was a coincidence that [Scythe Mastery: Unnamed Style] came with it. If it hadn't, I'd have been up shit creek without a paddle. Aka I wouldn't have known how to use the only weapon I had access to. Do you know how hard it is to get weapons? I don't even know if it's easy to get weapons with the Gacha Aspect of the System.

But the real gem of what I got? [Art of Quickening]. Gerhman, the first hunter used this skill and it was pretty powerful. It's an arcane art (pretty much magic, in the Bloodborne Universe) and greatly increases one's speed to the point human eyes cannot follow, while shrouding their form in a fog whose color reflected one's arcane power. It makes the user (aka me) so incredibly quick that people don't even have a chance to react to you! And if they do have the chance? You're shrouded in fog so they can't see you or your weapon!

Haah~ What an OP power.

And that's how it is in Bloodborne. I wonder how far I can push it in the world of Highschool DxD?

Thinking about this and watching over the fetus that held the best of humanity's fighting talent and the physicality of a Beast, and how the two came together to make something entirely different yet perfect, I couldn't wait for the future.

...Yet I had to wait anyway. At least I found out that I could read the [Scythe Mastery: Unnamed Style] and [Art of Quickening] and get the theory down before practicing with my body.
