1 The Night it Began

He had warned her about the book. Now it was too late. The matte green vines slithered

out of the book just like a snake hunting its prey. The vine stretched one of its arms to wrap around the girl's hand. Little did the vine know, she was a light sleeper. Her eyes fluttered open and she looked at her hand for a solid minute. She was in shock, nothing like this has happened in her perfectly normal life. If only she hadn't stolen that book. In the minute that she was trying to understand the situation, the arms of the vines continued to wrap around her arm. She snapped out of her one-minute trance and sat up slowly, unsure if the vines were hostile or not. The girl swung her legs over to the left side of the bed (where the stolen book was) and stood up cautiously, not daring to look away from the open book. She took a step backwards towards the door and stopped. The door creaked open. "Should I look?" she thought. She bit her bottom lip and turned her body to face the intruder. The beast was inhumanly grotesque. The girl

covered her mouth with her free hand and stood there trembling like a leaf in the wind. The beastly creature growled and started to lunge towards her. The creature extended its right hand and clawed the girl's right eye. She let out a blood curdling scream. The book illuminated a light lavender color. The vines wrapped around her legs and disappeared into the book, along with the injured girl.
