The Champions Selection

Half an hour!

That was how long it took the Beauxbatons students to calm down and stop trying to chase Soisen and Buckbeak around the castle grounds. The Hogwarts students had long since been drinking and eating popcorn by the windows (refreshments provided by the Weasley twins) and the Durmstrang students were staring dumbfounded, but secretly jealous, at the wizard who got all those pretty girls to chase him so passionately.

How did he do it, they want to know!

The teachers had to contain their laughter and even Dumbledore raised an amused eyebrow, as they never saw Soisen go through such a situation. It seems that genies are still human, after all.

And so, even before the newcomer schools entered the castle, the name Soisen was known to Durmstrang, reaching new heights of myth.

Even Karkaroff paid attention to this wizard with potential! He was only reassured to learn that he did not meet the age restriction and therefore, was not a threat to his school.

...A convenient time jump later....

After several days at Hogwarts, the heads of the Beauxbatons students cooled and Soisen agreed to show them around the castle in groups. It wasn't that there was a shortage of people volunteering, but none of the French students were willing to go with them when they had someone they knew to give them a tour.

This made the castle mates look at Soisen with burning envy, especially those weak-minded ones who saw the time Fleur spent at her side and were affected by her Veela side. All of Soisen's friends examined her reaction to Fleur's presence with a critical eye and were speechless as they saw with their own eyes how Soisen was immune to the Veela charm and acted as usual.

Silvia in particular was secretly immensely relieved.

Competing with a Veela charm?

Soisen for his part, could only accept the situation. Away from the strange thoughts of the people around her, from her point of view, she was just talking to the friends she made during her time at Beauxbatons and returning their kindness.

In fact, all of Beauxbatons chose to sit at the Galegold table for two reasons. First, his friend was the "founder" and a member of that house. Second, despite being the fourth year to receive members, there was still plenty of free space at the table and they were not as cramped as the other four houses.

Just look at the Slytherin table, where Durmstrang sat. The poor snakes had to share mealtime with rude wizards, who seemed incapable of changing the expression on their face to one that wasn't serious.

And speaking of Durmstrang, Soisen had received many dueling requests since his arrival and for the duration of the Goblet of Fire selection. He suspected they were trying to impress the Beauxbatons and Hogwarts students, but he wasn't sure, since to the complete frustration of the other party, they never managed to beat him even after using some minor allowed dark arts. Each duel didn't even last two minutes, not because Durmstrang's were incapable, on the contrary, they were much better than Hogwarts wizards at sparring.

It's just that they picked the wrong opponent and didn't bother to find out more details about him. Little illusions that altered their perception caused their spells to miss their target by half a meter constantly, and they racked their brains trying to figure out what kind of "shield enchantment" had that effect.

Today was the dinner where the chalice would select the champions of the three schools and everyone was excited. Soisen was curious if anyone else tampered with the goblet and Potter's name still appeared tonight.

-I think we have all enjoyed our dinner and with our stomachs full and happy, the time has come! -Dumbledore stood up and officially began the event as he approached the stone goblet where the blue flame burned, waved and spat out a piece of paper.

-The Hogwarts champion is... Cedric Diggory!

The Hufflepuff table erupted in cheers as the champion stood up to approach the Headmaster, secretly raising his thumb in Soisen's direction.

Another flutter of flames heralded the arrival of the next champion. Taking a burgundy blue circular piece of paper, everyone knew from which school would be chosen next.

-The Beauxbatons champion is... Fleur Delacour!

The now champion stood up with a smile and looked smugly at Soisen for a moment, before heading towards the same room where Cedric was waiting.

Soisen was speechless at the look on Fleur's face.

We're not even competing! Why are you looking at me like you've won!

As he shook his head in exasperation to the laughter of those around him, the last champion was chosen.

-The Durmstrang champion is... Victor Krum!

Applause and cheers came as Krum stood with a proud stride and a look full of determination to bring honor to the school.

-Now that we have our three champions, you should know that- -Dumbledore's speech was interrupted as teachers and other headmasters looked quizzically at the goblet, whose flames turned red and expelled something else that he managed to catch in mid-air.

-Harry Potter? -he read confusedly from the paper in his hand.

The gazes of the entire Great Dining Hall turned almost in unison to the "boy who survived" and both Maxime and Karkaroff frowned about to say something, until....

-Borch Svadika? -Dumbledore continued to read aloud from the paper in his hands -Glace Curie?

Everyone's expression changed again, some recognized that they were the names of other Beauxbatons and Durmstrang students.

Did the Goblet of Fire choose two champions from each school this year?

So will it become the Six Wizards Tournament?

Soisen, for his part, was as surprised as the rest. It seems that the goblet was indeed tampered with to include Potter, only at least whoever did it was smart enough to add additional champions to raise less suspicion.

As for who did it, I had absolutely no idea, as I wasn't going to be watching the Marauder's Map around the clock for the entire selection.

Svadika and Curie stood up in confusion while Potter had to get a smack on the back of the head from a classmate next to him to come to his senses and follow suit.

-Well, this just makes it more interesting," thought Soisen as he took a sip of red tea.

Both Svadika and Curie were the same age as Potter, but both looked much more capable and might bring some unexpected surprises during the competition.

Or at least that was what he thought until he heard Dumbledore's next words.

-Soisen Galegold Evans Valriss Aulus?
